Why Not to Buy a Ford Focus Melvin Shelton: As my very, very, goood friend Scotty says (Free Translation from Texan): .aaahhh, those Maseratis are way overpriced, AND, they are deplorable piles of high class crapola. You have to remember, these are ITALIAN. And they are SPORTS CARS, if you have the centavos. He did not have to work hard to convince me. They can, undeniably and elegantly, get out of their own way. They can do so while leaving vapor trails, and with Golddiggers riding shotgun(s, even if asked rudely, and without notice. But right after they do that, they fall directly to piece. As usual, he was at high decibels, and talking too fast, but he was only occasionally unintelligible after two or three takes. These are expected, and always worth waiting for. And the part about falling to piece? Listen carefully, children: He was referring to the Maseratis. He was not referring to the Golddigger. They never die. They jut dont catch ride. Please expect Scotty to deny all knowledge of having spoken, heard of, or fantasized the above thoughts. Especially if they are true.

The biggest problem with older Jaguars is that you have to be the right kind of driver/buyer for that kind of car. If you buy a 1955 Chevy, you can drive it day in, day out and if you dont maintain it right, it will eventually fail. But if you buy a 1988 Jaguar, you have to listen to it and when it makes any different noise, you have to figure out why and attend to it. I have known people who loved to work on their cars and they were made for Jaguars. they took things apart every weekend and fine tuned them and lovingly reassembled them. They could easily get 3-400, 000 miles out of an XJ6. But if you want to drive it and maintain it like a Buick, good luck It is a different animal.

Dont have to tell me twice. Drove a few rentals a few hundred miles and they were almost all horrible. The Focus is the most jerky and rough POS ive ever driven. I am in the process of buying a CPO car and I did not step one foot into a Ford dealership (im in the midsize car market anyway and have very specific needs so the focus wouldnt have fit. Im buying a Kia instead because of the massive leg room, smoothness, warranty, features, 40 mpg turbo engine, etc. it was the whole package. My family has never had an issue with any of the Hyundai Kia products and have put tons of miles on them in the past with little to no issues so I felt more than comfortable getting one.

Scotty didnt do his research on the Focus. Prior to 2012, Consumer Reports rated top pick on overall reliability in all categories. They were using conventional automatics, 5speed manual, and port-injected understressed 2. 0L (2. 3L optional) 4-poppers. Basically Ford just refreshed the sheet metal here and there and kept improving the hardware little by little. 2012 is where Ford went with the so-called world car with the new DIG VVT 2. 0L, and the horrible dual-clutch autos. The 5 speed manual continues to be optional until about 2017 (relegated to bare-bones trim. 2019-2020 redesign is Europe only, including the even better Fiesta.

Your information seems you hate any car other than relic toyotas. My weekend car is a old volvo covertable but dailies have been 2 focus 200+k miles and 160+k. We now have your favourite brand a BMW f31 320d with 80k and all been absolutely trouble free other than service tyres etc. Ive owned old older toyotas and hondas back when they were fairly new and cant say they where brilliant. British weather killed the bodies anyway. Could you do videos on how to do jobs, fix etc rather than just hating everything please. Show your proper mechanical knowledge.

Agree: My 2012 Ford Focus Transmission gave up at 67. 000 Miles and some month later the clutch caused vibrations and was replaced at around 75. 000 miles. Total costs of 4. 500. Fortunatly the selling dealer provided a million miles warranty when purchasing the car on the power train which covered the costs. Ford Dealer says its a common problem with these cars. I will not buy a Ford again or recommend. Also Ford did not pay anything and had terrible customer service. Pretty disappointing experience.

Hey scotty, I am having an issue with my 2005 Corolla XRS 2ZZ-GE motor where when ever i enter the higher cam my car starts to run extremely rich until I come to a complete stop and then the car starts to operate normal again. I have checked the lift bolts, changed the ignition coils and even the Crankcase Ventilation valve. Should I take it into a dealership to be looked at or have some one with a Scan tool to read all the voltages for each sensor to find out what is wrong?

Hi Scotty, I have a Ford S Max bought last year. So far good and I make sure its serviced regularly and I take good care of it. What advise can you give if you have any experience and or knowledge about the Ford S Max model. Mine is a 2011 2. 0 tdci 163hp titanium model. I bought it at 148000 miles with full Ford dealer history. Many thanks and I appreciate if get time to respond otherwise its ok if you dont. I understand time is an essence and you may not have time to reply.

Scotty, my wife owns a 2014 four-door hatchback titanium edition Ford Focus. It is about to hit 100, 000 miles and I was thinking about taking it to the Ford dealer to have them do the 100, 000 mile service. After picking myself up off the floor when the lady told me it would cost 900 I decided to send you a text on your video and ask you if this is a good idea to do this 100K service? The car has been a good vehicle with no major problems.
