Doing This Will Save You Thousands in Scam Car Repairs lawnmowermanTX: Scotty Kilmer The 1990 Buick LeSabre, 3800 V6, my half brother got me, back in 2015, had most of its components replaced. Fuel Filter, Fuel Pressure Regulator, Temp Sensor, Thermostat, top hose, radiator cap, radiator, belt tensioner, and belt replaced, and still SHUTS DOWN because of an Overheated Transaxel-Transmission. I hear a loud roar, and sensations of it jerking, cutting out the cruise control, and when I checked the transmission fluid it was darker and it had bubbles with wisps of smoke from the transmission tube. Im looking at a 1, 800 overhaul, with 100 dollar tow to shop, and the Interstate Battery is well over 5 years old. It is an OBD-I computer system. My Dads Buick Century Special is a 1994 sedan, with a defective computer. Sad that Buick did NOT put Gauges on the later 1980s, 1990s or any model of Buick LeSabre, Century. A daubers nest had fouled the cooling fan, shroud, and on my way back from a Doctors appointment, I blew the head gasket. Dads 1994 Buick Century was an OBD-I computer as well, and the engine was a 3100 engine. My 1990 Buick LeSabre has a stronger safety computer as it detected an overheated trans-axle code, and shut the car down. I really wish, I could put gauges on my 1990 Buick LeSabre. As I dont have the expertise or money to purchase tools to do it myself. I think. 1996-97 was the year everything went OBD-II? Good thing, I am not married. I feel these vehicles are like bad women, with greed in her heart and issues out the tuchus. lol

I know alot of people say that GM makes terrible quality cars. I May have just been lucky because i had 96 Bonneville with the 3200 Series 2 engine, i bought the car with 77k miles for 5900 bucks. I had this car for over ten years with almost no problems. Aside from batteries brakes and brake lines which cant really be counted because thats basic maintenance I think the only thing I replaced in that vehicle was a blower motor for the Heat and a radiator I now have a 2009 Chevy Impala LT that i bought with 46k miles and i havent had any problems with it other than basic maintenance? I know absolutely nothing about cars and how to fix them so only thing I can do is top off the fluids and change a tire lol. somebody please tell me if these GM cars were made of better than most other GM products or have I just gotten extremely lucky?

I bought a brand new Ford 150 truck. In short, POS. I have had nothing but trouble with it. After the warranty ran out, I got a check engine light. Took it to the dealer and they quoted me 500 to replace the turbo inlet pressure sensor. Rather than pay them I took it to a mechanic friend of mine. He printed a picture of where the sensor was located which is right in front of the engine bay on top of an inlet hose. I bought a sensor for 63. From the time I opened the hood until I closed it after the sensor was changed was less than 10 minutes. 500, kiss my rear end Ford. Thanks for your information. Lets keep the auto dealer crooks in check, especially Ford. Never again Ford, you lost me selling me crap.

around here a DIY oil change is illegal so i had to take the car to a shop for it. when they lifted the car they took a look to see if anything else was wrong with it and told me it had leaky suspension, a leaky gasket, and the brakes needed to be changed. i did nothing of these. about 2 weeks later i took the car for the obligatory technical inspection that is done every 2 years. they found the engine, the suspension and the brakes to be in excellent condition and the only thing the car needs is alignment and new tires. and i used to trust that shop.

Hello Scotty, I love your videos I had a 1989 celia hatchback i sold it couple years ago to my mechanic back then it only had 140k miles but needed a new gas tank. I was wondering if you could do a video on what to look for when buying used car. Two girls trying to find a decent used car after my niece was hit by red light driver. She would love a good reliable suv her little cube was a great little suv and liked how reliable it was. but if you can tell us how to know if we getting a lemon that wold help. anyway to check transmission and engine?

Scotty, last week my ex-husband got ready to work on his truck, got distracted, and forgot to stabilize the truck so it would not roll. His head was a split second away from being crushed, but the truck rolled over his shoulder and arm and luckily didnt pin him, otherwise he would have been pinned alive for weeks without rescue as he lives alone in a remote area. 40 x-rays later, doctors were amazed that nothing was broken. Please dont forget to tell the do-it-yourselfers to make sure their vehicle cannot roll and crush them.

My cars transmission burned up, I had no mechanical skills, I ended up watching how to replace automatic transmissions on YouTube for my car which was a 2001 Honda civic, bought the tools slowly and than the remanufactured transmission which was 1000 on eBay. I managed to get someone to help me drop the older one and put the new on in place, I spent around 1500 on everything while the mechanic wanted 3600 to do what I did. That motivated me so much, that I stopped paying people to fix my car.

Break jobs are easy. .Unless someone insane tightened up the wheel nuts so tight, that I need a giant breaker bar with a pipe extension. Another sign of a lazy mechanic is overtightening the nuts with the impact tool. Every. single. car. I get from family members and friends to change the breakpads, previously serviced by dealerships or shady mechanics, the wheel nuts so tight, I feel like just to go in to these places and toss my torque wrench at someone

My former son n law did his 1st break job one day while I was at work. He was all happy and proud of his work. I took a quick look to make sure everything was correct and safe to drive. He did have everything put back properly but. He used brake n caliper grease all right. Coated the entire surface of the pads/disc and calipers with the stuff. Guess he didnt read the directions on the can or watch a YouTube video about what NOT to grease on the brake system. Lol.

Hey scotty, it almost seems as if though every time I go to big O tires to get a rotation there is something that is recommended changing. The car is a 2015 Nissan Versa with 86K miles, but the engine has honestly never had an issue with standard trans, i guess that helps. Anyway they wanted to change the rear shocks and I told them Ill think about it. but I havent noticed any issues.
