Heres Why I Wont Buy a New Car Cord Cantrell: One reason he is a multi millionaire is because he doesnt go buy new cars every year. For the young kids that watch this trust me when I say that the rich people you see such as movie stars or athletes, etc that drive around in million dollar cars and live in giant mansions make up less than 5% of the rich in this country, the other 95% keep it low key and understand that flaunting your money not only is ignorant but also not beneficial to their lives. Not saying they dont own nice things and splurge on things but expensive cars are normally not on the list. They rather spend a hundred thousand on a trip around the world for a year than spend the same on a car that immediately looses value after they purchase it and then costs them money via registration, insurance, etc every year and at the end of it all it still gets them from point A to B just like a 20, 000 dollar car.

Scotty: Thank you for todays video. It resonates with me because after hearing todays advice it gives me more faith in myself when it comes to vehicles. Growing up I saw the pains my dad jumping from one car to another in various jobs which involved heavy mileage. Hes retired now from managing the family business but still he has three cars to drive between my mom and her. Dad was never the kind of person to sit down with me or my older siblings to talk about the dos and do nots of vehicle management. What differs from me is that I try to be open-minded and listen to good people such as yourself. You remind me of a mechanic friend who I used to know where you understand balance in life. You appreciate automotive yet you have some appreciation of the newer technology and you can crap on them too. Have a great day sir

Scotty you wont believe it but my 2008 BMW 116i E81 just made 160000 km (wich is 100000 miles. There was no problem first engine first 6 gear manual gearbox. I only had to change wearing parts like brake disks. Maybe i am alien or something, but the car was made in bavaria by bavarians and i switched off that engine start stop nonsense as soon as i started the engine. Of course that small engine is too weak for a real BMW but if you rev it, it goes quiet well. The VW BUS T3 and the Landrover Discovery V8i i had before made much more problems.

You say its dumb to waste money. hmmm Its also dumb to have a fat bank account when you die. I understand that you have to be careful with what you buy when you saved only a100K (a car, payment on the house, clean garage and put in a car lift or new furniture maybe) but when you own millions you can do it all and still have more than you could ever spend. How dumb is it to save money for the sake of saving it? You only live once. spend it now while you still can enjoy it, theres nothing wrong with that.

As long as youve got enough set aside for your future, I dont see anything wrong with buying a new car. Yes, theyre a lot of money and youll never see it again, BUT if youve got the extra money to spend and you enjoy cars, why not? Its no different than buying furniture for your home or any other commodity really. I understand being frugal because I am too, but theres a fine line between being frugal and being cheap. Enjoy the fruits of your labor, Scotty.

Scotty makes a good point. Why spend money buying a brand new car if you have a good old car that is in good shape and running well. Sure if may not have the latest safety and tech features, but old Toyotas and Lexuss like Scotty are still good cars. If I hadnt totalled my 2003 Camry, Id probably still be driving it today. It was very reliable and in good shape. It didnt have a big ugly grill like the new model has. I miss that car.

I wouldnt buy any modern car. They are stuffed with computer chips and modules that are critical to the cars/trucks functioning. A criminal working at a mechanic shop can plug a virus into some high end cars and brick them as a set up for extortion. Or, if Kim from Korea lobs a EMP, or their is a big solar flare your cars is a forever driveway ornament. Id rather spend the big bucks refurbishing a pre - 1988 car.

I have a 97 Plymouth Voyager I bought in 2010 and I still love everything but my sliding door which comes off its trackIve always kept up on Maintainance and only paid 500. for it so I more than have my monies worth. Any way to fix the door at a reasonable cost? The car drives straight doesnt drink oil or smoke and starts 1st time every time

Some people with money cant wait to buy the newest whatever. Apparently, Scotty was raised by people who lived the waste not, want not philosophy; . evidenced by his garage filled with stuff. I knew a person who was happy living like a pauper and when he died, he had over 500, 000 in assets. Good for Scotty, hes happy being himself.

Hi Scotty, love the advice on your channel. I just graduated from college in Los Angeles and I need to buy a car here. I dont any savings right now. Would you suggest to buy a used car from a dealer on monthly installments, if I get a cosigner? Also, any reliable mechanics youd suggest in LA? Thank you and keep up the great work.
