Hi Scootty. I have a 97 EK Civic manual with a stock D16Y engine its done 130000 miles & it suddenly stopped shifting gears & the clutch peddle is kinda limp with no pressure so its like its pushed in & almost sitting on the floor. This is the 2nd EK Ive owned & my other one had 150000 miles on it when I got it & had a stuffed clutch that would whine whenever it revved over 3500RPM I never serviced it & the gearbox went in that at 190000miles but it still shifted into 3rd & reverse. This one I looked after serviced it every 2000miles & it showed no signs of problems untill one day it was hard to get into 1st & was difficult to shift & 20 miles after that it wouldnt go into gear at all. What could it be? Hello from Gold Coast Australia My flatmate & I love your vids & he is not a car person at all, were here Id be considered a hoon. So itd seem your vids are enjoyed by a large demographic. Much appreciated mate. Cheers

Scotty I doubt you will ever see this but I was wondering what you think about rolling the dice and trying to find a bargain through copart? I am fairly young and have bad credit so finding a decent vehicle from this decade is almost unattainable for me in the near future and my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo is aging quickly Ive had transmissions and engines bench built and put them into an old for Bronco and Ive kept my Isuzu running so Im confident I can figure it out but I have no experience with body work and am terrified of getting sucked in to a deal that has a bent or crinkled frame. Thank you for all your knowledge I enjoy your channel

I disagree with his comments about keeping the engine and engine bay clean. You can use even the engine de-greaser at your coin operated care wash with a spray can of engine de-greaser to clean the engine and engine bay. The method to use is during the rinse phase of removing the dirt, oil, and engine de-grease. You dont point the high pressure gun directly at the engine. You stand back about 5 ft. from the car. In that way you are not applying high pressure water to electrical connections. And you are being gentle to this part of the car. Also it is much more enjoyable to work on a clean engine and engine bay, then a filthy one

Watch a ton of your episodes. I own a 96 Buick Roadmaster with low miles for its age and I change the oil like a maniac every 3k. I use the Valvoline high mileage 5w30. Are these LT-1 Motors known to be the good and have longevity like a late 90s Chevy Silverado 5. 7 vortec motors? I had one that I took great care of and got 319k miles out of it and sold it still running good with no blow by or issues. Just curious if this LT-1 will go that same distance as the 5. 7 vortex? Just replaced the optispark on it last week.

I have a different opinion on cleaning an engine If its got oil residue/or oil-dirt buld upit can start on fire Had it happen to an older car I had. Heat cant dissipate as well with a dirty engine even though they are mostly water/air cooled I pressure wash all my engines these days but wrap all electronics that I can. Have never had a problem after cleaning Also more pain in the dick to work on dirty vehicles

I have a 2006 Audi A4 Quattro 2. 0T with 240k and still runs great and have not had any issues with the car and owned for 7 years. My Audi before that was a 2000 Audi Avant A4 Quattro 1. 8t that had 315k when I sold it and and I owned that car for 3 years with no issues with the car. Audi and VW are very solid reliable cars with not many issues and definitely not money pits

I got a kick out of you. I recently looked up a video on the Mustang Fox body. Which you dont seem to like very much. But a video on that 5. 0 liter engine, or just positives on the Foxbody would be welcomed. I actually came across a stock convertible in very good shape for a pretty good price. Couldnt help but buy it. Well see how it goes
