I have very sad tale to tell about this vehicle. My sweet brother in law died in one soon after it came on the market. To keep the cost down, there is no steel in it, just an amazing engine. He was a brilliant engineer and car nut. He slipped off the asphalt on a country road, with about a 4 inch drop. A component of the front end SNAPPED and from there he was a dead man. The Honda family was very upset, as they respect learning and engineering and he was a family man. But they sent 4 corporate lawyers to battle it out and then settled for a large sum. It is a compete scandal that no one is ever allowed to even talk about it, or they come back for the money. The details I learned were appalling and it is a very dangerous car if something goes wrong. RIP Bilko.

I seriously considered getting an S-2000 a number of years ago as a really well-made classic roadster. It was kind of along the lines of the old Austin-Healey and MGB that I had many years ago but a much better car. The only thing I didnt like about the car was the fact that because of the small displacement(2 liters in the early version and 2. 3 liters later on, the engine would have to rev to insanely high levels to generate power and the power was obtained through having the engine highly tuned. Driving a car like that requires one to be cognizant of the engines torque characteristics in order to ensure that the engine is operated within its powerband.

So Toyota has done a similar thing in reverse as FIAT has done with its NEW 124 Spider, i. e. use an existing car (the excellent Mazda MX5) put a retro nose on the car and some FIAT badges and sell it at a more expensive price, I guess at least it should be more reliable. But Toyota getting into bed with BMW I didnt see that coming, it does look quite attractive but its not a real Toyota. It uses BMW Z4 bits and peaces. I know the early Volvo P1800 and Sunbeam Alpines were built by Jensen in England but they did use Volvo and Rootes Group running gear. So I wonder if the BMW bits will start to fail more quickly compared to Toyota parts.

Scotty, without Supra I wouldnt be master driverThey only share the same platform with a BMW (engine and drivetrain, Toyota did all the tuning, body, and suspension work. Furthermore, the engine is supposed to be built to Toyota Standards (they tore it down and shipped parts to Japan for study. I think everyone should give the 2020 Supra a chance, and be happy that someone made an inline six rear-wheel drive Coupe Sports Car. I plan on dropping in a 2JZ and a six speed manual when I get mine in August. I will send you the video when it is running. Love your work

Ohh Scotty, please dont get me started on S2000, it is one of the best sport car that was ever made. People who are not drivers say it doesnt have torque, downshift and rev it up to 6500rpm then sit tight and see for yourself how fast it gets Listen to that sound of the engine, feel that manual transmission (the best in my opinion, attack that sharp corner with confidence, you just dont feel that connection with the road, the control and the joy of driving in modern cars

How come my 1980 5 speed Datsun/Nissan 210 got 40mpg and with all the new technology cars today only get 30mpg? That Datsun was quick easy to work on parts were cheap and so as the car. Todays cars are high tech junk you cant work on yourself. It seems like for just an everyday driver todays cars are overpriced crap compared with cars 40 years ago. Seems to me all this technology is a scam.

If you guys think you know more about cars, go ahead buy your muscles. Its your money, your choice, and its you who have to live with it. Too many sarcastic dumb comments ruining the channel. Haters must have nothing else to do but bash and bash. Have some balls to have your own channel then and see how many will be on roflmao.

many people commenting here obviously havent driven an s2000 because Im certain if they had there would have been comments about the total lack of bottom to mid range power yes theyre brilliant cars but dissapointing as an all rounder because this car engine is tuned for top end power only & very ordinary/impractical as a daily.
