Doing This Will Fix Any Car Engine Jason Cardoza: When you are burping the coolant system, leaving the blower motor on the lowest setting will speed up the time to bring the car to normal operation temperature. Before someone says Im wrong just think about it. Turning the the selector to heat, opens the valve to the heater core thus causing flow throughout the entire system. Turning on the fan delays warm up time because its basically a radiator and fan with a one function. Pulling heat from the coolant. Ive never understood why it has become common practice. A WW2 veteran taught me that when I acquired his 1941 Chevy k51 panel he drove in the service. Also cold starts in below freezing its best NOT to turn the heat all of the way up. Lowest setting until operating temperature has been reached. This allows the engine to properly warm up quickly because of lubrication reason. People forget that oil gets thicker when its cold.

Here's a money saving tip: if the heater core or anything else under the dash starts leaking, just bypass the whole heater setup and hook the hoses together. Costs nothing, saves you a ton of money and trouble. Of course, now you got no heater. Another tip: Car overheating? Can't afford a new radiator? Get a heater core at a junkyard. mount it in front of the radiator (or somewhere else where it gets some air. Now run your heater hoses to it. It'll give you about 20% more cooling capacity. Or, if your car tends to overheat in hot weather, turn the heater on and put the fan on high -- that'll pull a lot of heat out of the engine coolant. You'll bake yourself in the car but you may prevent a blown head gasket.

Hey Scotty, I have a friend who has a 2002 Ford escape 3. 0, car randomly started hesitating. Her step dad looking into it and replaced the radiator, thermostat, upper hose, and radiator cap. Car runs but now the upper hose swells up. He's saying it's the catalytic converter. I think he's wrong, any suggestions on the swelling? Car turns on, and the only symptom is now the hose. Doesn't overheat. Doesn't turn off. Still some hesitation.

I drove 2 crown vic's over 300, 000 each and one was a retired police car The other one was wore out too the same way The police car is sitting beside my house for cheap security and I drove it home for its final voyage The other one I drove to the junk yard and they were both used up but they both still had cold ac I was impressed by how cheap and easy the repairs were along the way Awesome bullet proof cars

Unrelated question: What say you on replacing the metal oil drain plug gasket (on the drain plug) when the oil is changed? I really don't see the point and have never done it on my 12 Honda Fit nor have I on our '07 Odyssey. I never find them warped or in need of replacing and it feels like another needless expense. I don't over torque the plug when I put it back on either. Thanks in advance.

The computer will turn the AC off? You're nuts, Scotty. The AC being ON will keep the electric fans running, and turning OFF the AC shuts them off, possibly burning the engine up in the process. It's cornpone logic like yours that ruins the reputation of real mechanics. Get your facts straight before you pop off on your diatribes. oops, did I use too big of a word there for you?

spin the compressor pulley by hand. If its locked up ok too much money but if you can turn it by hand it has a leak. Put some cheap hr134a with leak detecting dye then make a conclusion. If the compressor is almost worn out it will still cool the car, it may have an o-ring leak or a normal over time leak through the hoses. But you have to spin the pulley with the engine off.

Scotty can you please do a video about battery recommendation for car audio, as per subwoofer speaker systems, amplifiers, alternators, and also if i need one or two battery installations for my car. But to be specific 1200 watts rms. I'm sure many of us would appreciate the advice and knowledge Also I'm not one of those jerks who plays their radio loud in the neighborhood

I fixed the coolant in my car and it still doesn't work. I don't understand, all that was wrong with it was that all 6 piston rods were broken, two holes were in the cylinder walls, the crackshaft was broken in half, the oil pan and all the oil was missing, and it had a dead battery, I thought you said that FIXING MY COOLANT WOULD FIX ANY CAR ENGINE
