Scotty, years ago I heard to drain a dirty cooling system completely then filling it with water Put some automatic dish washing detergent in and run it for a few miles (15 minutes. Then totally flushing the system and put in the new coolant. Be mindful that this detergent is harmful to cast iron and aluminum with long term use. What is an opinion from you or anyone? After a really crud filled system that caused overheating and a simple flush took out a water pump with remnants of crud I tried this and cleaned it up pretty good.

Thank goodness for the pumps with weep holes. If your engine is running and you see a stream like I had, it's repair time. A few years ago, I think it was in Syracuse NY, a garage mechanic got into legal troubles because he had conned folks into pump replacements that he either never replaced, replaced with a reman and changed for a new pump, or replaced with a pump from another customer that he had cleaned up. Turned out he was doing that with other things, but this pump vid reminded me of it.

I was just a firestone a month ago to have them replace a wheel bearing. After paying nearly 900 for that they also informed me that my water pump gasket was leaking. My temperature gauge hasnt gone up. Coolant levels fine. But they recommenced I replace all that because it was leaking. After watching your video Im convinced it was just the weep hole and they were trying to rip me off. Thanks for the video Scotty. Saved me 500 bucks on a job I didnt actually need

I believe the pressure in your coolant system only affects the boiling point in the fluid. Higher pressure does not correlate to increased cooling efficiency. Believe it or not neither does increasing the pump speed ( how fast the fluid moves through the system ). The main contributor to increased cooling is radiator area and fin density. The main reason for a higher pressure is to prevent losing coolant due to it boiling.

Hey Scotty stay cool an don't get heat exhaustion. I got it yesterday for working on a 1997 Ford Taurus station wagon car the other day to put on new brake lines and all that good stuff I have to do with it. Drink plenty of water and manly Gatorade to restore your electrolytes that you sweated out.

Scotty, I used to work on industrial electric lift trucks and used to find that the industrial battery was bad, made the battery people mad. Would replace battery from another unit and the problem would move to the other unit, ha ha found the problem. Electronics are sensitive to voltage problems.

Didn't mention about the plastic radiator coming un-glued leaking between plastic end caps and the aluminum. Some manufacturer's offer aluminum radiator. This is highly suggestible with turbo cars. Specially if the turbo uses coolant, adding more pressure compared to natural aspirated engines.

Damn, the Toyota dealership got me on this just 2 months ago on my wife's Prius. Water pump is leaking coolant, so you should replace it. The dealership was fixing a toyota specific part anyways so I said ok. Either way, I won't be using that dealership ever again for various reasons.
