The clearcoat on my 2019 Nissan 370Z sport coupe with the Magnetic Black paint is the same as what Nissan puts on their Infinity line and is called the Nissan Scratch Shield. This is a very thick(150 microns or 6 mil) clearcoat but is soft and scratches easily. I found out that Nissan designed this to be a sort of self-healing clearcoat that would soften even more under the heat of the sun and would flow as a viscous fluid to fill in shallow scratches over time. I had a double-layer silicon carbide ceramic coating applied recently that has made the surface of the clearcoat significantly harder and more resistant to scratches. It seems like a shame that we have to go to the expense to correct these bone-headed decisions made by car company execs.

Scotty, leave the climate to meteorologists, physicists and environmental scientists. Wether or not we come out of an ice age is completely irrelevant. We are speaking about time periods of decades and ages as far as climate change is concerned, not millions of years like with ice ages. The situation is so desperate, that for the last 10 years environmental science does not teach anymore how to prevent disastrous climate change, but only how to mitigate the worst disasters maybe. That is how desperate it has become. I live in the country below sea level. The Netherlands will be largely gone in 200- 400 years time. It is not geological time scales

One way of looking at rich people without rose-colored glasses on is that most of the buyers of high-end luxury cars, including 1M Porsches, are looking to resell them for profit, and refuse to put significant mileage on them. Sorry, but youre not very rich if you save proof of every oil change on your Ferrari. Rich is when you chuck the owners manual of your supercar in a drawer and forget where it is. Rich is having 50, 000 miles on your 2-year old Koenigsegg and not giving a damn about resale value. There are not very many of those people.

The EPA requires water born paint on the color coats in many localities across America. It's the law. I'm not sure about factory paint jobs but the body shops use it. The clear coat is not water born paint however and obviously covers the color coat. If anyone reading this knows more detail, please feel free to correct me or chime in. I've been a PDR tech for 14 years and I assist body shops with hail damaged cars. All the shops I work with use the water born paint process and the paint is just as durable as the conventional paint is.

I bought a Civic LX 2019, while I was changing lines almost all the signs including (Power steering, breaks, traction control, air bag, and other) flashed and I couldn't control the car. I couldn't stop the car, as nothing was responding, in the end my car hit another car, my car stopped. I stopped the engine and started it after 20 min till the police finished the job, all the signs disappeared except for the air bag. I took the car to the dealer they said there wasn't any problem. Anyone had the problem with a 10th gen civic?

Also, to the guy who asked about the CR-V and RAV4: For the CR-V, avoid the recent ones with the 1. 5 L turbo, as they often have the oil dilution problem. Honda's 2. 4 L I4 would be the far better choice (available up to around 2016. For the RAV4, I'd avoid the 2. 4 L I4, made up to around 2010 as many of them had oil consumption problems. Go with either the newer 2. 5 L I4 or the 3. 5 L V6 ( if you want more power. But, the V6 was only available up to about 2013, otherwise you'd have to get a 4Runner or Highlander.

Other thing I'd like to know. My Honda has a CVT and it uses a weird transmission fluid that needs to be flushed every 30000 km (about 18000 miles)Do you think it's a good thing, compared to 'lifetime' fluids in CVTs?

This reminds me of the Nissan Altima dash boards that literally melt in the sun. I mean come on. Its a dash board that will be in the sun all the time. Mine is an 09 with this issue. I will say that I have been fortunate as I have over 200k miles on it without one lick of trouble out of the CVT. Ive changed the fluid with Nissan NS2 fluid twice and serviced the car religiously in general though.

I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE for 4-1/2 years old now with 16, 000miles mileage instead of a minimum of 18MPG as advertised. The gas mileage now sucks 12MPGWhat is the real reason for this? 1, Age? 2, inadequate oil change schedule? 3, worn out tires? Note: I noticed this poor gas mileage when I change the bank2 catalyst sensor2. No check engine light on on the dashboard
