Did I Just Buy a 100 Subaru Canadian in the UK: I know some folks that bought a used Subura I told them not too, well did they listen no, all the things listed Scotty tranny gasket happen, I always believed having simple car easy to fix it more important that anything else, but I do have a question I am from Canada but live in the UK I drive a 2008 Ford Focus Automatic, why is the quality of Fords here in Europe seem to be superior to that here in North America, now eventually I will return to Canada and call me crazy but I love my Ford and would love to bring it here, what things would need to sort once it arrives, I am pretty sure US and Canada regulations are pretty much the same, I am just curious,

My parents have owned two Outbacks, one 2003 with the H6 and a 2005 with the 4 cylinder. Both went about 330, 000 km. The H6 never had a head gasket issue. The other one they bought when it had high mileage and it's possible the previous owner had to do a head gasket repair but we're not sure. The H6 had some weird transmission things going on when they got rid of it, but they also did some towing with that one and I wouldn't be too surprised if that messed it up in the long run. The 4 cylinder developed a problem with the rear differential that was too expensive to bother fixing. But both were all in all very reliable. I have a 2010 Legacy I've owned for three years. Haven't had any problems but Scotty's videos have me paranoid

How can someone who admits that he doesn't work on that many Subaru's give an honest opinion about them. They had a batch of back head gaskets over 10 years ago and now every flat head engine is a piece of junk. Half the comments on here are of people who have high mileage subarus with no major issues. I was a master Subaru mechanic and that's what I have my wife in (Forester. Over 100k now and all I've done is services and brakes. I've seen tons with over 200k. Only dealer repair being a brake switch that was recalled.

2010 WRX stage 2 here, with 158k miles. Only quality parts and a tune for stage 2. A/C running ice cold, and a few repairs over the years like water pump, a wheel bearing, valve cover gaskets. Changed timing belts spark plugs, and pullies. No head gaskets problems so far, but i am waiting for it to happen. It is prob too late to sell it now, but it has been a good fast car, and i hope it makes it to 250K or even 300k. I guess time will tell. I drive it normally for the most part, and I keep fluids in check all the time.

My dad always told me in looking for a car, talk to mechanic's and parts store clerks and ask them what they see the most often. My wife and step son work at NAPA in a mountain town in Colorado. They see lots of Dodge, Chevy, Volvo, BMW and Subaru owners in the store needing to get parts all the time. They tell me that Subaru owners are constantly in the store getting light bulbs. Headlights, driving lights, tail lights, marker lights, etc are always failing. Why do you think that is?

He's right when he says the 2. 5 can't get out of its own way. I have a 2015 Outback and merging into traffic is scary. I always feel like I'm dragging a grand piano behind me. It's not a bad car otherwise, but no better than any other Japanese car - definitely overrated. The power train really holds this car back. Luckily it's my understanding that both the CVTs and engines are more reliable after about 2012 or so. That said, I'll never buy another Subaru.

Hi Scotty what a fantastic show I really enjoy it and have learned a lot since I started watching you. I'm also writing to ask your advice, l live in New Zealand and I'm thinking of buying a late model Honda Jazz which are sold as the Honda Fit in the USA. The car is popular in NZ and from what l can tell its a fairly reliable vehicle. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Keep up the great work, just love your show. Regards Emmanuel

Im trying to buy my first car but I dont know much about them. Currently, Im looking at a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata with 56k miles for 10k from a private seller. Im almost ready to purchase the car. I already test drove it and taking it to the mechanic for further inspection. What should I have the mechanic check? Also is a 2016 Hyundai Sonata w/ 56k miles for 10k a good purchase? Please help me. I appreciate all the help.

I love my '09 Forester. Got around 150, 000 miles on it and I still get 26mpg in mixed driving. One of the most reliable vehicles I have owned. with a automatic trans. Very good AWD system which is really needed in Michigan's bad winters. I have seen some really old ones on the road so I don't see why Scotty hates them so much. Funny I don't see many old Toyota trucks or SUV's out there. Hmmm. Maybe he is being paid by Toyota.

I've got a 08 Impreza/Outback Sport, 150k miles. I bought it from an independent Subaru mechanic who had replaced the head gaskets, water pump, and timing belt. Definitely need to get to know your Subaru; Do preventive maintenance, don't wait for things to break. Be mindful of your tires, you can ruin your transmission with bad alignment etc. Baby the transmission, change your oil, use the right gear oil.
