Here\'s Why You Need to Buy a Toyota 4Runner Michael Davis: I bought a 2018 4Runner TRD Off Road (before I heard about Scotty) and it drives like it was a pickup truck. Still getting used to it coming from a Honda Accord EX with 31 mpg, but after listening/watching Scotty's videos and how he backs Toyota vehicles, all the perceived and real drawbacks become somewhat incidental. Can't wait to put a better roof top rack and get a good roof top tent, a Dometic freezer/fridge, shelving, jerry cans, with a roll-out counter-top to prepare food on and heat my coffee in the morning for years to come.

I'm the original owner of a 1995 4WD Suburban with only 148k miles, still runs fantastic but the soft parts are beginning to deteriorate thanks to the Texas heat. Used primarily for photography outings (if I don't feel like setting up a tent camp, I can stretch out in the back with 8 feet of room. Was looking at the 4Runners, but just can't bring myself to spend 40k. I like the style, the ground clearance, and the reliability but the price tag is what's holding me back. I may consider a pre-owned model (must be 4WD. is there a preferred model year for a pre-owned 4Runner? Which ones to look at, which ones to avoid?

I'm with you Scotty, I too, can speak for Toyota quality. I'm driving a 98' (3rd gen) 4Runner Limited with 166K, the 3. 4L V6 runs perfect and I do nothing but change the oil once a year. The only problem is with the gel-coat paint on the hood and a little bit on the roof. The interior materials have held up well and except for the clock, everything works as it should. Though, I don't off-road much, the 4wh drive is very capable (great) in the snow. Thx, Moses.

My dad bought a 06 4runner brand new. he got a V8 with 4wd. He drive that for almost 12 years and 272k miles. we still have it but since Jan 2018 it has had to have a new engine and all new caltalatic converters. and it isn't in great cosmetic shape because it has sat. Outside in the socal sun. the paint has wore off it needs new tires, windshield, and a new back panel because it has a big gouge in it. that was patched with glass window black glue.

I've owned four 4runners I LOVED EVERY SINGLE ONE WITH MY WHOLE HEART The one I'm driving right now is an 08 Limited. Not one except for my newest one had under 300, 000 my third gen had 450000 rust killed one of the old ones the other one I sold and the third gen got repossessed by the title loan company for a 250 loan they wanted 3900 after they took it, on a loan I made 5 50 payments on so technically 250. but the interest was 799%.

I have to say though Scotty you are insane telling people to buy a 2 wheel drive 4Runner why even get a 4Runner if it's 2 wheel drive? And the V8s are outstanding I've personally seen them with 500, 000 of course the fuel mileage on a V8 is insanely bad so I got the V6. and he's wrong about the gas mileage I get about 23 with the four-wheel drive about 500 miles per tank.

My 03 V8 4runner is the best vehicle I've ever owned. I love it. My dad bought it brand new and I now own it. During that time not one thing has ever broken and nothing rattles. It's a tank BTW the first few years of the V8 (like mine) weren't interference engines. The later vvti V8s were interference engines. You can't go wrong with a 4runner regardless if it's a V8 or V6.

Hi I have a question sometimes when I get out of parking and press slightly the brake pedal the the car stops as if I pushed the brake pedal all the way to the floor, very abraptly or the first 5 minutes stopping at red lights but then it breaks smoothly and soft again Is it something wrong and needs to be fixed or normal after it was parked for a while? Thanks

Bought one a little over a year ago with 103, 000 miles. Paid 11, 200, value was over 14, 000. I went one size up on the tires. Tires are snow rated all terrains, also installed a leveling kit for the front, with Bilstein shocks all around. It goes through anything, and never gives me any problems. My next one will probably be a TRD Pro.
