Doing This Will Make Diesel Engines Last Forever Joshua Morgan: Hey scotty this is done really good info to have I has no idea of the changes in the fuel itself im sure everyone who had that big diesel they only pull out for the occasion would especially find this useful. Your the man But id like to talk a little about my truck. I have the 2. 8l duramax Colorado 4x4 and I stand by this minimax to the end. I drive only a 10 mile commute to work daily and a little here and there on the side and fill it less than once a month. Costs a lot to fill it paying for diesel but I'm only paying slightly more in fuel a month than my wife in her Ford focus SE. Although I have felt the GM transmission shutter of the new vehicles on rare occasions it does rattle my nerves. But so far I've only heard of the duramax injector failure epidemic that supposedly they changed and fixed. Also the radio and bluetooth can also be a real big pain. I can't speak much about the reliability of the truck because I've only done 30, 000 problem free miles but if she lasts and the injectors and transmission hold up I think it's damn close to the perfect little truck.

I gotta be honest here, USA's diesel seems to be of really bad quality compared to the one sold here in Europe, maybe because over here it's much more popular than gasoline, but we simply do not have these issues because there is always at least a bit of aditive in the fuel AND you can buy premium diesel with even more and better additives, they make a difference. Even when people describe USA's diesel as being really smelly and viscous, maybe it's my nose, but I don't hear people here complaining about its smell and it's pretty easy to wash off. Granted it's also much more expensive, so maybe that's USA companies cost-cutting in fuel quality over quantity.

I had a diesel car for about 9 years and I will never have another one. It cost 2000 dollars just to have the fuel injectors serviced. The fuel smelled horrible it had glow plugs and if air got into the fuel lines it cost a lot to have the air expelled again. The car had no real power and I had to fill it up where the diesel trucks got there fuel from and there was always a mess on the concrete from spilled fuel that I had to walk through. Some times there was a line of trucks waiting to fill up and I just had to wait my turn, which could be over half an hour. Diesel is for dickheads.

GM Used to make decent Diesel Engines, Read A Article and Some Reviews where the REAR MAIN SEAL IN THE MOTOR kept leaking and had to be replaced because once it started it only got worse Then there is this list for GM diesels Fuel Starvation and/or Air in the Fuel Lines. The Duramax diesel is susceptible to fuel starvation and getting air in the fuel lines. .Water Pump Failure. .Overheating. .Injector Failure. .Injector Harness Chafing. .Glow Plug Failure/Concerns. .Aluminum Cylinder Heads. .PCV Design - Turbocharger Oil Ingestion.

It's not the diesel fuel, if it was pure without biodiesel mix (junk) there would be no issues. TDI's are bullet proof. Just do a regular maintenance. Replace fuel filter every 20k by the book and you should be fine. Use the diesel stations that have the most traffic and make sure that biodiesel percentage is as low as possible. VW recommends up to 5% biodiesel mix and I know that QT sells up to 5%. I know a guy who has 2015 golf tdi Sportwagen with 450k and a guy that has 1998 Jetta tdi with 800k+ ( wore out the axles) (:

Sorry Scotty, gonna have to disagree with you. More than half the world uses diesel powered vehicles and they work pretty damn good. Drove one myself for a week in Asia and loved it, sipped fuel. So what if there's maintenance, there's maintenance with everything. Some of your titles are starting to become clickbaitish. Goes against your mantra of being straight and telling the truth. just sayin

No more diesel cars for me. Here, in Bulgaria, the diesel is horrible. I've heard people started having problems with their new diesel cars on the second year of ownership(some even first. PDF, turbos, injectors, expensive glow plugs, etc. For example, a guy bought a 1-year-old VW Passat, started overtaking and the engine died. It was a miracle no one got hurt. Clogged injectors.

I remember when the Low Sulfer came in, some of the older trucks started to have big problems. one Cat engine had the top of a piston come off and it really ruined my day. it was years later that mechanics were catching on to the tricks to keep them running right. when the additives started to come out that really worked such as the product you held up things got so much better.

I had a diesel car that is still going, 15 years and 180, 000 miles. This must be an American thing? I thought that water in diesel caused problems immediately? Trucks run for 100, 000s miles, perhaps they do treat for bugs. As a doctor of chemistry I have never heard of this. Theoretically bugs could use diesel or gas as food, as long as if was wet.
