I have a 2003 Xterra, bought it new, still have it and my son drives it now. I've towed with it, gone off road etc. Have to say the only thing I can complain about is the headliner went bad twice. About 6 months ago I put another one in. The Xterra wasn't expensive to buy and just keeps cruising along. Think I paid 19K and have run it for 17 years now with 140, 000 miles on it. Hopefully son won't destroy it, daughter is probably going to be driving it for her first vehicle. What I can blame Nissan for is bad valve cover gaskets. I knew they were leaking a little which in time took out the starter. So new starter and I decided to put the work in changing the gaskets out. Plastic top on the radiator got a crack in it so I had to put in a new radiator. Steering pump hose went bad, replaced for 5. A/C hose went bad, changed that out, recharged working well ever since. 6 CD changer went bad but now we just use a Bluetooth device any ways. I do my own work on my cars unless it's new enough for warranty work. That's it. Tires, oil, brake pads etc. and things i have done that were my fault. New windshield at one point not Nissan's fault. Taillight, had to have an under body piece welded back together, not Nissan's fault. All in all I would recommend a 2003 Xterra if you could go buy one new. Neighbor after seeing mine bought the 2004 model, his son has been driving it through college. His is still going no major problems.

Dont know where to ask car advice, so I'll just plop this here. I financed a certified used car some months ago. Due to some unfortunate miscommunications, my insurance policy didnt get moved to the new car. Cut to last Thursday. Got into an accident. Collision shop says its gonna be 8 to 12k to fix it. Insurance denied my claim because my old car is the one that is on the policy. Cant tell the financer about it because then they know I didnt get my insurance updated. So my question is, do I take out a loan to get the car fixed? Or cut my losses, spend the next five years paying off the car to just junk it out in the end and buy a cheap used car? I'm at my wits end and could really use some input. Thanks to anyone who read this.

My wife has a 2014 Sentra and the air compressor wasn't working correctly after 2 years and that was over a thousand dollars to fix. The MAF sensor kept making the engine light come on and off so when the air got fixed he sprayed cleaner in that and it turned that light off. Now Tires Plus wanted 335 to replace the MAF sensor (again our mechanic sprayed cleaner in it and that fixed it for free) and the air they wanted 2700 to fix. Our mechanic got OEM parts and Tires Plus was not going to use them. The moral of this is don't but a Nissan and then don't go to Tires Plus to fix it.

Nah, Scotty. Its actually easy to understand the Chinese government system. Easy. Its as the CCP needs it to be. They are judicial, executive and legislative in one and they couldnt care ANY LESS what happens to the people. They are by far the worst regime to have EVER walked on the face of earth and are a real threat to the rest of the worldYou mean that they stole the technology for the battery.

Is it me or Scotty got it backwards? The 1zz has oil burning problems because of oil ring failure, it's well known. The 2zzge engine does not have this problems and it's a much better engine. His customers who are in their third 2zz as he often says must be idiots because that is a much better engine than the 1zz. The 1zz has design failures admitted by Toyota.

Nissan cars with CVT needs to driven gently and they will last. It's just common sense. Steel belt is just not as strong as steel gear. But if you want to drive like a racing driver, please drive a manual or ant electric car. CVT is for efficiency and can last longer than automatic because it's way simpler mechanically than an automatic, but you need to be gentle.

Owned a 03 Altima 3. 5 automatic and that car was a beast. Drove it like I stole it fill 180k miles went 1st gear finally went out. Now own 2005 xterra with 145k and is built proof, only minor standard repairs needed. Just did full suspension replacement and feels like a sports car again even though it's an suv. Amazing car

Hello Scotty I currently drive a 2013 Nissan Rogue with 95, 000 miles. I Still have 2 n half years of payments. No major problems just normal wear n tear. Should I trade it in before it dose? Would like a V6 suv. Was thinking a Nissan Murano (19) or a highlander or a Rav 4. Need all wheel drive live up North in Pa

Speaking of brakes no lasting, when I was in trade school we still had a theory class on relining shoes. We didn't actually do it because by that time it was too expensive but we did rebuild wheel cylinders. Kits were still offered but rebuilding the cylinders was long gone by then unless you had some weird rarity.
