Doing This Will Make Your Engine Run Better #3 Rebecca: The smoke machine was pushing against a closed system, so it's assumed the smoke was barely able to penetrate the first muffler/silencer and nothing more. So the resulting test saw AIR escaping thru the leak and not smoke which did not even reach the area. The only way for that test to work was to push the smoke either from the front of the engine thru the EGR or from a cylinder with the exhaust valve in the open position or to remove the exhaust manifold and do it again from the tips of the exhaust, and close it when the system was full. A visual inspection is the best way to find the leak: you can clearly see the clamps on the exhaust pipe going into a muffler/silencer to be corroded/dirty with a type of carbon deposits. No need to start the engine or use the smoke machine. It pays to be an engineer before being a mechanic, more to know physics even before. The smoke machine however would be ideal for the intake circuit, more for turbocharged SC ones than atmospheric which also hate a leak (vacuum instead of pressured) as the MAF sensor would be giving erroneous information. And again one needs to fill the entire circuit with smoke before letting the tiny pressure from the machine blow it out from the leaks.

Honda dealer tried to rip me off. Inspection found exhaust leak. They told me I needed a new entire exhaust system 900. I said show me the leak and they said we can't, it's off the lift. I said put it back up and show me. With my Element back on the lift with engine running the mechanic said hmm, I thought there was a leak up front but the only leak was from a rusted connector from muffler to tailpipe. I took it to a shop that welded tailpipe back onto muffler for less than 100. Two years later similar thing happened at same dealer. Failed inspection due to exhaust leak. Said needed new exhaust system. I took it home and found the leak was a rusted connector behind cat converter. Bought a new spring bolt and clamp and fixed for 45 at home. I don't trust the dealer at all. I go there only because I bought my Element there and inspections are discounted. Dealer has also tried to sell me new brake rotors I didn't need. And tried to sell me new caliper but caliper was fine, only the slider pin was rusted which I fixed myself. This dealer has thousands of customers and surely has made millions upselling needless parts to clueless customers.

LOL stick to a name brand well hate to tell but they mess up as well. There was a Chevron next to my apartment which did the same exact thing the delivery guy accidentally put the diesel in the wrong tank and several cars filled up. I actually go to that station sometimes but luckily that day me and the wife did not have to fill up. I believe chevron paid for all the repairs with the cars involved but they also had to clean out the big tank in the ground as well so half the station was closed for a few days while they did the clean up. I would have hate to have been that delivery guy as I'm sure he probably lost his job. ( I don't think they noticed until he was done with the entire diesel delivery on that day so not telling how many gallons went into he underground tank)

Having a damaged engine sucks, but killing two people is worse. When I was flying an air ambulance in 1994, we lost a crew and airplane after it was incorrectly fueled. The Cessna 421c had taken on 60 gallons of fuel in San Antoino. The correct fuel for the plane was high octane gasoline (100 octane low lead); however, it was fueled with jet fuel (Jet A) which is similar to diesel fuel. Like your customer's car, the engines started and ran until the gasoline in the fuel lines was exhausted (1-2 minutes after take off. With no available thrust, the plane descended and crashed killing the two pilots on board.

Very nice only charging the customer 1 for finding the leak and tightening down the clamp. Normally, a repair shop would at least charge an hour repair fee with the going average hourly rate for an automotive mechanic ranges from 80 to 100 an hour. For minimum repairs like this, some shops will just charge pocket change (20) or nothing in order to build a good rapport with the customer in order to show your hospitality and good faith and hopefully the customer will return with any other repairs and maintenance in the future.

I know this is a newer car in the video but my dad's 2005 Lincoln Towncar looks just like that underneath, clean and new. You can always tell a car from the south. He lives not too far from you Scotty in Austin, well at least in Texas standardsI have a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis and I live in Iowa. But mechanics tell me I keep it pretty clean underneath there, it's tough to do though, especially with salt on the roads in the winter. Fortunately we have car washes with excellent undercarriage sprays.

Even sometimes th ABS will turn off by itself and speedometer works again i took it to a mechanic and he told me it could be the ABS computer he took a look at the ABS speed sensor and told me they looked good.

Loose clamp, time to get rid of it Not because of the leak, though, it's a Mini Endless money pit Manual transmission and stainless exhaust will be around forever, though (after the motor goes. Scotty likes a challenge, though, and will do his best to help his customer wring every last mile out of that baby for ScottyKIA transmission code: POS-#2 Just not Toyota quality, I guess.

Hey Scotty. I'm a older teenager getting into mechanics. I love to watch your video and learn. I'm thinking of buying a car in the near future. I like the chevy Cruze and in my research have found the early models(2011) have problems up the wassu. They fixed them in later models(2013+) I found a 2014 chevy cruze for 8900 with 162000 kms mostly highway. Is it worth the buy
