Howdy fellas, Today we are taking a look at Central Union Railroad service! Last time I was on this train it ended up pretty badly. ! - TRIP INFORMATION - RECORDED IN JUNE 1907 Railroad company: Central Union Railroad Train type: 4-6-0 From: Valentine to Wallace station Time: Around 10 hours Price: 10$
Date: 2024-01-09

Comments and reviews: 34

I personally prefer to travel with the Cornwall Southern and Eastern Railways (I recommend their relatively comfy Second Sleeper class cars) starting in Rhodes, but Wallace station is a beautifully decorated station with a great opportunity to shop.
Its location is just perfect, with the Wallace lookout and the spectacular Cumberland Falls nearby. If you go westward, you can go hunting in the woods or see the beautiful fields and a creek close to a ranch called Hanging Dog Ranch (just don't go to a shack nearby called Vetter's Echo.
Strawberry isn't that far either and by coach you can even travel to Blackwater with relative ease.

I've watched almost all of your trip reports by now, just a couple or so missing, but this was the best. Better landscapes than the Alaska trip, ruder staff than on the Moroccan train - even though they allowed you to film in this one - and a worse customer service than on your former Yugoslavian journeys - what's not to like? This is a proper train adventure. Merci beaucoup, Thiebault.

There's a tourist train called -Cumbres and Toltec- that uses the former D&RGW narrow gauge route between Antonito, Colorado & Chama, New Mexico. Kind of similar to what's shown in your video. Another portion of the same D&RGW route is the -Durango and Silverton- narrow gauge tourist train in western Colorado.

There's a WW2 reenactment train ride in Titusville Pennsylvania that you may enjoy. I did it before the pandemic and it was pretty impressive. I know you do mostly travel across the country but it may be something you want to check out.

Well, while the video itself is lovely, I missed a more detailed information about the top speed on this line, the price and of course the wifi connection on the train as well as the availability of power sockets and/or USB ports.

Happy Spring Day!
This is so clever. I visited a marvelous train museum in Campo, California on the border. The collection of vintage trains is outstanding.
Some sleeper compartments had full size bathtubs.

Red Dead Redemption II Love it! Have you done a review of the Grand Canyon RR? I heard they are bringing back steam- Also, there are several steam excursions. One here in Oregon. You should do a review!

The -pot- is a spittoon - men used it by spitting their chewing tobacco out of their mouths - yes gross looking & smelling.
The people seemed like holograms or virtual beings, really strange.

I remember last year we got a plane review for April fools, I was wondering what he-d give us this year. -
But I didn-t expect a video game train

Awesome ride into yesteryear! I would also choose first class. Those hard wooden benches look very uncomfortable.
Thank you Thibault----

APRIL FOOLS FELLAS!
More seriously, the game Red Dead was a good opportunity to see what was like a train travel back in 1907!

I wonder how he was able to do the video? Late 19 century, no phones, gopros, internet. Did you borrow the Delorean?
reply

Wonder how he was able to record in such high resolution back then. Thanks for more than a century of uploads!

Great trip report, John Marston! Sorry to hear about your friend Arthur; he saved your life not so long ago.

I actually thought it was real at first, but that was a great video! Think I will check out the game now.

Very good-. I thought this episode's instalment of Toilets Time was particularly thorough.
