I wanted to share some thoughts on the Kardashian Controversy, Just got out of an Eating Disorder Treatment Rehab a couple weeks ago. When the other patients and I would discuss the triggers of social media, Kim Kardashian without fail would be brought up by one or more patients, haha. A few things mentioned were her constant talk of losing and gaining weight, lavish use of cosmetic surgery, unrealistic body proportions, etc. , sadly we all, in a way, idolized her and others like her for the way they looked. Most found it comforting to remind themselves that her photos are photoshopped. Even knowing that to be mainly true, I still can't help to believe that if I look like her, natural or photoshopped, my life would be more valuable and people would care about me. I know, quite irrational lol, but even after treatment, those thoughts will never fully disappear. Kim K is a constant reinforcer of that way of thinking, even if she is managing to be healthy about it. Accepting multiple compliments that seem to approve of anorexia and starving is pretty insensitive to say the least. ON THE OTHER HAND, I know as a recovering Anorexic/Bulimic that many people close to me would comment on my weight in a way that sounded like compliments but were actually a way for them to express concern about how thin I was getting. Honestly, I loved it when people would comment on how thin I was, I even liked hearing that I looked anorexic. I never saw myself as I truely was. So, I dont think I can blame her if she is sick tbh. Whelp, I just wanted to vent, thanks Phil.

I'd say it's a huge problem she's promoting unhealthy weight loss methods and them using anorexia as a compliment. Eating disorders and body issues is a huge problem in the female community, already as a child you're exposed to this. It's a constant fight to stay sane and it doesn't matter where on you place on the scale, people judge your body whether you're overweight, underweight or have the perfect BMI. What changes is what they tell you. If you're slightly on the chubbier side you're told that to be beautiful you must lose weight. To find love you must lose weight. To be accepted you must lose weight. If you're slightly below average weight people tell you you're too skinny. They tell you to have another cookie, another piece of cake, another bowl of ice cream. Always complaining about your weight and saying you need to eat more fat and gain weight. They assume you're anorexic, that there's something wrong with you - because how could a person naturally be skinny? However if you been on the larger side and worked your way down people compliment you, which makes sense, but then you see people keep losing weight and continue way past what's healthy and all along people keep complimenting them and encourage them to keep going and lose more weight. They're never pleased and they convince you that this is right, they convince not to be pleased with your body. And the media, whether it's the fashion industry or celebrities, backs them up. The world is constantly telling women that there is something wrong with their bodies, and it needs to stop.

I assume New York Times are free to choose their own path in choosing to employ people who will get them ever-growing customer base. And it boggles my mind that they would willingly choose to cooperate with people who demonstrate their lack of sufficient communication skills and/or strong level of self control in public eye; this means that either: 1. they are acting rationally and they for some reason believe that there's profit to be made by associating with such risk-prone figures, 2. they're acting irrationally. if we look into 1, few possible reasons come to mind: 1. a: They're assuming the overlap between people aware of (and unwilling to forgive for) racist tweets of particular member of NYT editorial staff and NYT customers is fairly low. 1. b: They're off-the-record fond of such tweets, but they assume their customers are gullible enough to accept their statement shortened here to that's all in the past, surely she's grown1. c: They're publicly signaling Disney hey, you can rehire Gunn despite his tweets, we did it1. d: She has truly grown as a person and her editorial skills would create so much value for NYT, they're willing to risk itbear with me, the list of possibilities and reasoning is endless and I don't think I've covered most of them, however I wish to believe it's something along 1. d. You can decide which out of those options sounds plausible to you, however, I just think it'd be 2.

As someone who is trying to recover from an eating disorder, hearing the Kardashian/Jenners talking about how small she is and how she likes to look like she isn't eating, it's scary and makes me uncomfortable and brings bad thoughts of a terrible time in my life. Im worried for all the people that follow her and watch her video who are having trouble with an eating disorder or might be developing an eating disorder because seeing something like this where she is being complemented on being thin and looking like she isn't eating can make people feel like thats what they need to do to look good. And to all those trying to recover it can be very hard to not fall off the wagon and seeing this is a major trigger. Talking about losing weight and being thin is fine but to encourage someone you know by saying they look like they haven't eaten and that they look anorexic is horrible even if its joking in private but they saw her recording, they knew this would be posted, she planned on postung this and these comments were still made knowing that others would see it. Either they don't care if they promote anorexic ideas or they put zero thought into what they post. Both are scary thoughts about people with so much influance and especially over young people.

so to the kim kardashian story its not society being over dramatic no its a real thing i suffered with being really skinny growing up i ate good everything hardly gained weight sometimes even lost it and that was from my fast metabolism but once i was around 15/16 the way i felt about my body made me feel gross i wanted to be like all the girls around me all the girls on social media like kims ass or any of the kardashians or huge breast ya know the whole nine yards so i thought in order to gain weight and be like them i needed to shove food down my throat to the point where id wake up in the middle of the night puking cause of how much i ate and the cause of that now resulted in my now 18 year old self having a belly and a double chin the belly making people think im pregnant, and having family members literally make fun of me, and having ugly stretch marks i didnt have to worry so much before but i still did due to guys and girls expecting more from skinny girls but now losing weight is all i wanna do and i cant seem to do it and now these ads keep popping up on my phone from celebrities about the skinny tea shit and the lollipops and that shit to help you lose weight and it just sucks a lot (i know i suck at writing dont judge me )

I'm a little late viewing this video, but the fortnite coaching thing is amazing to me. As someone who's been a viewer of pro gaming since the birth of MLG, pro gaming is growing and coaches need to be there to train the next wave of pro gamers. As gaming became more mainstream, the average skill level of players statistically drops. It becomes harder and harder to effectively scout the top players. Gaming is generally a hub for us with mental illness, high levels of stress etc as well, and when people get depressed, they rather just play games instead of actually working towards getting help (I know from experience with bipolar disorder. Pro gaming has given us hope over the years, that we can turn what we love into a career instead of society telling us we're wasting time. A good example of what pro gaming can become is South Korea. Pro's are treated like superstars, but over here there's still a large population that thinks of us as basement dwelling virgins. I don't expect people to read this long ass comment, but I just don't want people writing off games as a waste of time. I'm sure I'm not alone here, but when I've been in really dark places, I can honestly say that gaming saved my life.

It's sad that people's first reactions to the Kardashian video is to hate on these women, when clearly they are just a product of their environment. I don't think they are purposefully promoting eating disorders because they want their fans to be unhealthy, they are products of the ignorance that can come with extreme wealth. And while I'm not giving them a pass for not thinking about their platform as influencers a little more carefully, I do think that we should be more empathetic towards another human being. They are under unimaginable pressure to maintain what they think is the perfect body, and that has to come with underlying body image issues, so instead of hating on them and bashing them, why not understand that they may have a different sense of beauty standards that they feel they need to live up to? We should take it as an opportunity to educate people on the dangers of eating disorders and the importance of healthy body images, not put down these women further. I understand they contribute to this superficial portrayal of what beauty is, but they're victims to their own vicious cycle as well.

I have never watched KUWTK so maybe I am out of the loop (not bashing, I watch tons of make up gurus on youtube so it's not like I'm trying to act better than anyone) but honestly when I first started watching the KK video, I thought she was expressing concern for Kim's weight loss. But when Kim started laughing and said awww thank you and then everyone started giggling and congratulating Kim on looking so tiny and anorexic, I was disgusted. That is absolutely not okay. It's one thing to praise someone for their weight loss, especially if you know they have been working hard for it. And it's not like it's just sisterly jabbing, if it was supposed to be an intimate moment then it shouldn't have been posted to social media. The fact that any Kardashian would say that it's just an intimate moment when they have built their livelihood on being watched by millions, says that it was not just a moment between sistersI haven't dealt with eating disorder issues but I have friends who have and this kind of behavior is so sick and disgusting, it absolutely breaks my heart.
