As far as coordinated fake news spreading, I think the only way is for people to register their accounts. Like having one main account like an email that their identity is associated with. Or like Twitter verified and being able to hold people accountable for purposely misinforming others. Also applies to accounts that sell stolen artwork on Facebook. You can delete the account but it doesn't stop them making another. You should be able to block that specific person or business from making multiple accounts and just being permanently banned from the site. There's no consequences so nothing changes. We need online teams and cyber police. We are never going to go back to the pioneer days where people were a community because they had to be and chose to be. If someone is ostracized from one community they can easily find another or make another. I dont care so much about the obvious piracy shit. It's the small artists that need the protection because they cant protect themselves like the larger companies with art to defend can.

On Idris Elba: theres a reason why there are so many different words for beauty in the English language (the only language Ive properly studied) and I think its high time we start using them with the understanding of their equality to each other. On BTS: this I cant comprehend, as I find them utterly bland, in that shimmering, breathtaking way that only K-Pop can do. When one strives too deeply for perfection, one can lose sight of the whole, and if I may circle back to my initial remark, I find real beauty is always greater than the sum of its parts. In the case of Mr Elba, theres something rich and compelling about his nature that comes through in his gaze. Hes been there, done that, and yet his smile is broad and welcoming, and his manner lacks cynicism. This is someone that gives the impression he will LISTEN, and more importantly, understandEDIT: SHREK? Is Hollywood trolling us?

As a gymnastics coach, I understand that the higher ups failed our gymnasts TREMENDOUSLY. But what people don't understand is that, while this doesn't effect Simone Biles and elite athletes, it changes EVERYTHING for the Junior Olympic program. USAG creates the rules, guidelines, sanctions for all our JO athletes. If it's dismantled, we then have no one to regulate competitions. From people who are from the outside looking in you're like YES. GREAT. GET RID OF THOSE MONSTERS but for us: the coaches, athletes, and judges, you're getting rid of a program that is well organized in terms of progression and levels. This move hurts the little people. They said in their statement they sent to us that they do not know what this means for us. There will be no elite athletes without JO first. This will throw everything into chaos.

You want fake news to be curtailed on Facebook? How about people take on the responsibility of researching something on a Social Networking Platform before taking it as truth? Just because something has been shared a few million times does not make it fact. As long as individuals are content with keeping their head shoved in the sand, fake news will still rear its ugly head. Oh and until there is some sort of deterrent for journalist that intentionally misrepresent facts for clicks, better ratings, political agendas, etc, there still will be fake news. Huh. Sounds like a bit of personal accountability could go a long way to solve this particular problem.

I do think USOC is doing the right thing. USA gymnastics needs to be build again, a change needs to be done. As you said, I'm afraid USOC is only doing a rebranding, but I do have hope that thing will change. As Aly said, I do believe what is needed is more representation of athletes that really know what the sport is really about, the struggles and weaknesses of the entire situation that lead to Nassar's scandal. This young athletes need someone to support them and help them to help them with everything they have to deal with, not only physically but mentally, and for people and coaches to stop seeing them as medal winning machines.

The election was disappointing Phil. Some states which have been screwed over so hard you'd literally have to stick your head in the ground humming for 8+ years to not notice still voted red. A great example of this is Fallin in OK. She didn't just put nails in the coffin but pushed it into the ocean but they still elected someone that followed her policies around like a lost puppy. Not the only state to do so either. It is beyond pathetic. The first two years of this administration have done long term extreme damage to America but they still didn't want balance to offset it. America has cancer but refuses to see a doctor for it.

Real fake news will not go away. Just look at email and SPAM. The SPAM problem is a lot easier to solve and it is still a big problem. SPAM is a very difficult problem, because 1 lost not SPAM email it too much. News is even more subjective, it requires reasoning and ability to check other sources to try to figure out if it is fake, or not. I also agree, to Facebook, Myanmar hasn't been a big enough problem for them to prioritize it until now. No matter how many employees you have, there is a limit to the number of things you can work on, and for companies money will usually dictate that.

I just don't understand all this voting crap. you're all embroiled in a toggle for power routing for people who definitely don't care about you. We all remember the bush administration, trumps is very similar with military funding but democrats including obamas admin spoke how important keeping illegal immigrants out yet they are now appealing to you to help them? Don't you guys see it? If dems do eventually win the presidency the same thing happening now to illegals will still happen under their power. The dems are manipulating you as trump did the racists. it's really not hard to think

Facebook - My account has been inactive for years, which it shall remain indefinitely, if not outright deleted and it's not because of _fake-news_ or _trolls. _ Facebook is utter garbage. If anything, the increasing censorship is driving me away from the site. I don't want governments and corporations deciding what is and isn't appropriate for me to see or share, it simply defeats the point of social media; which was originally about individuals and driven by user content. As soon as a viable alternative becomes popular and is very active, I'll delete my account and move permanently.
