An Apology, MSM Targets PewDiePie Again & Is Jacob Anderson The New Brock Turner? Jordan Rideout: While it appears to be true, I also think it's kind of unjust to simply say Pewdiepie didn't know e; r had some questionable nazi references. I feel like everyone who is legitimately concerned over e; r being racist or antisemitic is really failing to understand and contextualize his humor, and that the controversy itself stems from SJW's not liking their SJW media being poignantly criticized, which is what he does. He doesn't go out and criticize media that endorses or is created by Jewish people, he talks about media with a specific feminist agenda, and then adds in edgy jokes to upset the people who would get upset by those kinds of jokes; namely, people who are incapable of even recognizing what a joke is if it's offensive. And everyone seems to ignore that these controversial comments are all non-sequiturs. Let's look at what the actual controversy stems from; it's an out of place audio recording of Hitler overlaid over Steven's face from Steven Universe. Does anyone seriously think that this is meant to be some form of biting anti-semitic commentary? Of course not, but they can pretend they do, and that's all that matters. Also, when e; r says pretend to joke about it until the punchline /really/ lands. Yes, that's also a joke. How do you know it's a joke? Look, I don't know how to help people understand what humor is, but you don't look at Felix' cuts to the Soviet flag with the Russian National Anthem playing and seriously wonder if he's a communist, right?

I used to be a Roar danner. I was addicted to the humor that was slightly offensive, and every day there was something new. I thought it was regie, and there was no other source like it--Reddit was unfunny. But you can't go a day there without seeing the standard word of hate for african-americans dropped at least once, and on most the sections of the site, you can't go a day there without seeing it hundreds of times, and that's the least of the bigotry and hatred that is chanted there, every day. There is even a section of the site that is devoted to hatespeech--it has been referred to as a containment board--although the moderators and site's admin do not see it that way--the former admin, grooht, once stated that he is nothing like the users of his site. I tried to distance myself from the hatred, the racism, the bigotry there, and tell myself that's not me, but I found I couldn't keep it out of my head. I had to leave, so I did. I have seen things there that are essentially depictions of the goings-on in the underworld. It is disgusting. I do think that free speech should be upheld, but it is the job of people with values and brains to teach others not to believe everything they read. I had caught wind about certain organizations, similar to the one Phil mentions, whose MO is to propagate nontruths. Don't believe everything you read. In the end, we need to keep in mind that someone is making a buck off of. everything and anything.

About the BU story (and yes, I'm hella late to the conversation here. I don't know why everyone always claims rape cases are so hard to prove. I myself am a rape survivor and I remember that the police told my mom (as I was in high school at the time) that there wasn't even a point attempting to take it to trial because it was an I said, he said incident. They could prove he'd attacked me, I went into the hospital bleeding and had to have a rape kit done; but all it took was him claiming it was consensual for them to just shrug their shoulders and claim they couldn't prove a crime was committed. Although, in my case, the dude still is sitting in prison for the rest of his life, so I don't have to fear him or fear him hurting someone else. To explain, when he was called in by the local police department, he believed that confessing to a crime you were not called in about was not punishable, so he admitted that he'd been raping his two younger sisters for the past 7 years then claimed he hadn't raped me (thinking, I guess, that this would prove he was telling the truth because look how honest he was being about this other thing. Point of the matter is, no matter how much evidence you have, no matter how much proof you have that a rape occurred, all it seems to take is for your attacker to say no I didn't and suddenly everyone just gives up on trying to get any justice. It sucks, but it's true.

I GUARANTEE you the deal had something to do with the college pulling strings to get the case out of the spotlight as much as possible. They knew if it went to trial their name will get smeared as much as possible in the headlines. Im sure if you look deep enough there is a connection between the DA office and the universityAs for the DA, this is NOT punishment. Not only that but they should have to ask the victim if they wanted to go to trial or not. Or if they are ok accepting the deal. All those involved in the case in the DA office as well as the judge should be RECALLED right now and a gofundme opened so that no matter where the RAPIST moves to, a billboard can be used to post a huge image of his face with the word RAPIST next to it This way no matter where he runs everyone will know what kind of monster he is

There are a number of reasons why criminals are punished, and one of those reasons is to prevent feuds, and revenge attacks, because victims can see justice done. However if this Anderson guy has people on the far side of the world so angry they want to break his legs, and worse, because of this plea deal, then the sentence clearly does not fulfil that particular criterion of criminal law. I suppose the law is about practicalities though, and it may be that people wanting to launch revenge attacks, is not considered an issue, while actual revenge attacks might be all they are concerned with preventing. It is always my fear in cases like this, that the victim, of the victim's family members, will be the ones to face criminal prosecution, if they have to take the law into their own hands.

About the PewDiePie thing: I'm a mod for a large online LGBTQ+ community, so ofc we get troll attacks daily. The edgy humor thing is absolutely a tactic used to radicalize people into actual bigotry- we see it all the time. Browse Reddit for 5 minutes and you'll see what I'm talking about. I'll always remember one troll whose Twitter contained a tweet that said he had a friend he thought just had an edgy sense of humor, but it turned out the friend was an actual Neo-Nazi. That's not to say edgy humor is always awful and should be avoided, etc etc, I'm just saying that when someone online is using it, it's pretty impossible to tell whether they actually believe it or not, and whether they're actually trying to red pill others.

Joking and otherwise normalizing neonazi and white nationalist ideas is literally how neo nazis and white nationalists operate. That is how they work, that is how they strategize. That power level part is actually a dog whistle for white nationalists and neo nazi beliefs. I've seen enough of this to know what to look for. Make no mistake, they know their ideas are too radical for most, so their goal is to shift the overton window until they can actually start to speak out loud. this is how fascism takes hold. it's not a sudden and abrasive snap, it's a slow, manipulative creep until it's too latewhile we shouldn't label everybody who does edgy memes as a racist, it's important to know that these are their tactics

I was raped last year a month after I lost my child from a miscarriage, I was drunk and he took advantage, he had the whole thing planned. I was not close to a hospital and he made sure I didn't go get checked, a month later I tried to charge him, but because I couldn't get checked there wasn't a lot of evidence. I was always taught in school if you are drunk you are not able to give consent. I had witnesses confirm I was drunk and I had said no. In the end the case was closed and I was not even granted a no contact order/ restraining order. Personally that was the worst thing any human could have ever done to a woman in that position. I think any human who thinks that's okay is garbage

I think these situations tend to be seen differently by the legal community and society at large. Legal personnel see where a case may have convinced them that an accused is guilty but also not have enough evidence to pass the shadow of a doubt legal necessity. In those cases, getting a person some kind of punishment and making it well known that they are guilty is more important because an acquittal tells society This accused did not do this crime. Leaving there to be a strong chance that the prosecutor will see another case with this accused. Better to warn society and get some punishment than to lose the case altogether and see another victim down the line.

Dude, people love complaining. Just look at what I'm doing right now. It's just innate to us all it seems. That being said, I do believe it has reached a new peak in the recent years. Grasping at straws with but one intent; pointing the finger at someone else oh look at what they did. It's like we forgot that eventually we grow up. Pewds is too big and too powerful for the likes of those who love to control and dominate, masters of the puppet show and so he will continuaslly be under fire for the most ridiculous things possible. Top that up with those trying to capitalise from drama involving his name. Tsk Tsk. Sad, ridiculous, disappointing.
