Its important to remember Blizzard didnt ban Chung for free speech, but for breaking a rule. That said, im disappointed in Blizzards handling of the situation, the punishment, disabling comments on the statement, removing the VoD, and this will hurt them, but I won't boycott them since I'll be giving up things I love playing, something that has been a massive part of my life. I stand with Hong Kong protesters, and I value Free Speech. But that doesn't mean you should get excluded from punishment when you are breaking a rule. Free Speech means Freedom of Speech & Expression, but not Freedom from Consequences. I understand people are outraged and boycotting Blizzard. And I know people will misunderstand or disregard sections of this comment, just like people completely disregards the rules and law. But let me make it clear, I dont agree with the punishment, but a punishment is needed to those breaking rules. Chung knew full well he would get punished. Also, the caster did do something, they knew what was going to happen and they let it happen because they most likely stand with Hong Kong, them being fired for letting it happen I cant agree with at all. But they would fall under same ruling, they let something happen against the rules. Also people using a character solely because shes chinese. Its kinda silly, but I understand why. You have every right to disagree with me. Every voice matters. And as a final note, I'm sure blizzard listens. But the damage is done, and no matter what they'll do people will hate them for it, either they are bending the knee to one of their largest investors, or they bend the knee and disregards their own rules for the public, either way they'll lose face from its consumers and investors. (im positive, china's gov. loves them for this)#LiberateHongKong

I'm from Ecuador and I live in Quito. I know that is really hard to understand our situation if you just watch certain news. But what is really happening is that the demonstrations started when Moreno decided to work with the IMF because as is really well known this always leads to misery and increasing levels of poverty. So, various groups of citizens went to the streets and not only indigenous but also students and public and private workers because salaries are going to be reduced, prices of food and public transportation are going to increase among other specific things that will affect the most vulnerable part of society. Well, the thing is that police and the military forces are killing and violently acting against everyone even against groups that were just there raising their hands up in the air to show the police that they are there defending their rights in a peaceful way. And with that, some peace and humanitarian zones were attacked by the police hurting not only indigenous but also med doctors including volunteers that were taking care of those who were hurt by the police. We as ecuadorians don't support the decisions of the government and we defend our people Today is the 11th day of protests and approximately 8 people have died ( including a indigenous leader brutally killed, a baby and some children, there are hundreds of injured people and these numbers are just going high because the government has ordered the police to use all kinds of forces to silence the people out there fighting for everyone's wellness. Sorry if I make some grammatical mistake but my first language is Spanish.

We live in Ecuador. Tried to go into town today to fetch our paychecks and get some groceries but the highways were closed, with cars even driving back in oncoming traffic because they couldnt turn around properly. That being said, the protesters at the blockade were nonviolent and just stood in the way of vehicles. Nobody was trying to hurt anyone. Ive spoken to locals and seen in several news outlets here that its not just about the fuel subsidy. The fuel subsidy was the straw that broke the camels back. Many reports say that the economy is way worse off and deeper in debt after Moreno cane into power. Many also say that Correa is just as bad for the country for different reasons. I had also heard that Moreno was petitioning a while ago to try and make it possible to extend the maximum time a president is allowed to be in office from one term to indefinitely. I think people are just generally not too keen on him. On Wednesday the protest also got really weird because the military sided with protesters in Quito and Cuenca against the police forces. Im not sure how I feel about either president yet though. I know Morenos approval rating is in the toilet though but I also know that Correa was corrupt when he served in office. Many Ecuadorians think the IMF loan wasnt necessary, or wouldnt have been necessary if it werent for Moreno. Just thought I could share what Ive heard from some of the locals Ive spoken to online and in person.

Coming from Ecuador I can say this. The reaction of the citizens was expected but in reality unprecedented in terms of length and chaos. You could hear a strike coming from a week before because of the leaks about this gas subsidy being taken away. A lot of groups have taken on the chance to go out on a strike, rob, hurt and even kill others. Now is just a violent protest lead by violent people, where only a fraction of those groups want to talk and work things out, even though the government stated they're not reversing this decision. Therefore situation in ecuador is nothing but sad. People are not looking at all the things the government is trying to do as an attempt to better the financial situation of the country they received after the last election (a lot of debt. On the other hand, the social group reacting is one that's easily susceptible and you can hear it on the streets that the last government is behind it. This doesn't mean I'm totally in favour of the choices and measures the government's taken but such violence shouldn't have happened. People is afraid to go to work because of the danger it presents, or because they're on strike, and therefore companies are losing money big time, which only makes things worse.

Like I been telling people. There's a lot of moving parts right now. I'm still waiting to see if when England finally finishes with the Britexit bit, that Scotland in throws down for independence from the UK. England will likely come up with a reason why that can't happen, cold war ensues, Northern Ireland likely steps in given their push of freedom past, and like it or not that means the NRA is going to throw in. Long chain of events, and not entirely related here, but I've seen quite a bit of national splits brewing, some of which orchestrated to unify in new directions future. At least they hope for such. The proxy wars have already begun. Right now the situations between Mainland China and Hong Kong are hot. I'll have to see further how this one develops as well as there may indeed be a surge that presses to take down a leader seen as being a puppet to wills other than his people.

I was waiting for you to cover the Ecuador situation (I know you cover the political situation of several countries usually not covered by mainstream media. I'm from Ecuador and I liked your breakdown of the situation. I do however think you need to make an update of this soon. Here are some issues I think are important for you to mention: Maybe expand on all the proposals made by the president on his decree so that people can decide if they're sensible or not. 1. Limited press coverage and aggression towards the press. 2. Violence against the indigenous communities. 3. Demands from the indigenous communities. 4. Government offerings as compensation to indigenous communities. 5. Foreign people's involvement in the attacks. 6. Include Correa's declaration of running again for president. 7. Human rights violations. 8. I'm forgetting stuff. might edit later.

I agree with Scorcese, but I think there's a better way to say it. The majority of the MCU movies are absolutely not good, not by any true standards of what makes a good film, but they are still films. Who's to say they don't deserve to share the same theatre as truly good films? When judging whether or not something is true cinema, you have to know what true cinema is, and to know that you have to have studied film extensively and be able to have some amount of objectivity. You have to be able to say objectively that this film is good within the context of the time and with consideration of films that have come before and after. In my experience, the kind of person who loves MCU and defends all of the films against statements like the aforementioned one, has neither studied film at any length, nor acquired any amount of objectivity.

As someone living in Guayaquil, I have to comment that the situation is escalating because the government says they are open to dialogue, but aren't willing to compromise. People are asking for simple things: 1. Partially restore the gasoline subsidy. 2. Reduce the salary to the ministers instead of the public workers, as well as restore the 30 days of paid vacations (which were reduced to 15. 3. Seize assets to all politicians tried for crimes against the country (something that has not been done despite having the former vice president already in jail. 4. Reduction of the interest rate in the banking sector. And 5. Recognize the autonomy of indigenous nations, as well as provide all rights as citizens of the country (the vast majority live in extreme poverty and many do not have access to basic services)

I was born in Ecuador until I moved to the US at 15, 15 years ago. the situation that is going on in my country is so sad and angering, many people are frustrated with how the government has been run and are taking it out on the chance that was opened through the protests and the vandalism. people are taking justice on their hands, there have been more fatalities (not only from police to civilians, but amongst vandals. People are spreading the word that Correa May try for a re-election. also his hearing will be next week too. there are many things that are being especularse upon and causing more chaos. Im super worried since my parents are planning on going there next week for my cousins wedding. the state of my country is very terrifying as of right now. I fear for things to get worse.
