I work in a restaurant and it's really hard to wear the masks when you're running around a hot kitchen. It's hard to understand people so communication is hard and it's really hard to breath when you're literally running to try and keep up. They're important, yeah, but my first day having to wear the mask we had sales numbers that reached if not topped our opening day numbers and we were working at a fourth of the staff. I nearly passed out because I couldn't breath and I had to step outside for air. where there was a line of angry customers eyeing me for standing outside rather than working. Up until that day I had been working as an essential employee and it broke me. I've not gone back to work since. Everyone was so much more stressed and trying to shout over our masks to be understood that I nearly cut my fingers on a chef's knife from the environment alone. I can't imagine what those employees at Red Lobster had to deal with because I know my workplace is very employee positive in their approach compared to places like that.

I worked at a popular Italian restaurant chain last Sunday. It was the worst day I ve ever worked in my entire restaurant career. I had managers nearly in tears from being yelled at, orders backed up over an hour at times, cars wrapped around our restaurant the one next door and into the highway. I personally had to be pulled away because I was close to having a panic attack from all the stress. It s not even a problem that we were understaffed. We had a lot of people working. It was just more people than we could handle. We were quoting hour or more for their food and they d come in 15 minutes later expecting their food and get mad when it takes an hour for it. We stopped taking orders about 2 hours before we closed because we simply couldn t keep up. We were running out of dressing packets for salads and had to make them by hand as quickly as possible. I could go on and on about this but it was rough. End of story.

It is not grooming to treat a teenager with all the dignity and respect you would accord an adult. My closest and dearest friend has been my friend since she was 14 and I was 42. We have helped each other through multiple bad breakups and a couple of suicidal depressions. We have different perspectives, and just like the perspective of a man in his forties can help a teenage girl, the perspective of a teenage girl can help a man in his forties. She's in her twenties now. I'm in my fifties. We don't help each other as much, but we still talk. And we still listen to each other. In my own teen years, nobody listened to me and nobody cared what I had to say. I swore I would never be like that, and I meant it. I will absolutely never stop listening to teenagers and taking them seriously, and I will always believe that the rest of the world needs to start.

My husband works in a restaurant and mother's day was a shit show, 170+ orders and hour, management refusing to limit orders so they could actually get them out to people, 2-3hr wait times for food, people who've never worked in a restaurant throwing all kinds of tantrums and cussing (even though the people making their food are at risk of getting sick but are still there working and making them food. By the end of the night there was 1, 000 worth of food not picked up thru togo. Thankfully the restaurant works with a shelter that receives any of the food they don't use throughout the day or week but still, yeesh. I get waiting sucks but it's not the employee's fault shit's so backed up it's managements for not limiting the amount of orders per hour. Still nothing gives your the right to lay hands on or cuss at someone.

Red Lobster: 2020 did not start off on a good note for me. I had to make the difficult decision to leave my job as a pizza delivery driver in early February. There was just too many problems at the place I worked, and I drew a line, that line was crossed, so I left. After that, the plague started hitting the fast lane and, in retrospect, it's probably great that I left that place when I did. I've been told by a few people still working there that they've been getting almost no tips and there's no way in hell anyone working in the service industry is getting any kind of hazard pay. 2-3 hours IS a ridiculously long time to wait for an order. It's okay to cancel your order and go elsewhere. But treat the people who are still and have been working in food service and other essential job with some god damn respect!

As a shift manager at a fast food restaurant I can say that we have not slowed down one bit, in fact sales are actually up. Every day is the exact same, constantly having people in our drive through and it never really stops. It s just a constant flow of people. We then get moments where the drive through gets backed up to the roads. Even though our drive through times aren t bad there is just so many people coming at once. If one thing goes wrong it pushes those longer drive through times. On top of this we extremely short staffed. I can t imagine being an actual sit-in restaurant with no drive through. One thing I ll say though is that when a restaurant gets more business than they were expecting and aren t staffed for it, then guess what, there s gonna be longer wait times.

On Colleen Ballinger: It seems Adam is particularly lucky that he had his parents to look out for him, and that Ballinger seems to understand why her actions crossed a line. But not every online kid has that support. I get worried that these situations seems to train people to believe any relationship between a minor and an unrelated adult as always bad. There are always going to be kids who reach out to adults online, and I don't think the solution is for adults to ignore interactions with kids. Some kids are going to look online for support or validation, and adults can acknowledge that without needing to get personal. I think how adults manage and judge these situations is a teachable skill.

I had commented on this on the Colleen's video and I think it needs to be said again. I think a crux of the issue that is going on now is due to poor boundaries between Colleen and her fans. Wanting to be connected to fans is a great thing but there is such a thing as getting too personal and I think while well intended Colleen has not done a good job maintaining clear boundaries with fans and for many people this can be confusing especially minors. I do also think she is impulsive and needs to practice stepping back and critically thinking for 2 seconds because she seems to get carried away quickly with ideas. Creatively this can be helpful but sometimes that can shoot a person in the foot.

As someone who has watched collen for years, something is evident: she wore the facade of the cute and perfect american girl for so long, that she became terrified of leting anyone see her flaws. Shes human, she does shitty things at times, it doesnt make her worthless. When her divorce came she even deleted footage of her vlogs that showed her (married at the time) on a Hawaii trip with her current spouse cause there were rumors (solid ones) of her cheating. She's always pressed about things going against the marketed image she puts out and thats why i dont follow her anymore, its artificial. But she did a good job adressing this situation though
