What Really Happened In Beirut Explosion: Attack or Gross Negligence? Horrific Before & After. punkybrewstar83: Video changes everything. I get upset and things by horrible global events. I am 37. I have lived through 9/11 in the USA and a major series of earthquakes in our own capital city. However, this is the disaster, watching that footage, that I am crying like a family member died. I am just so so so sorry for what happened, and for the people of Beruit (who were already struggling. All we can do now internationally is donate, fundraise, support. However, I wish so so bad that some how I could undo it. They all just had no idea it was coming, and it was just so quick. I just can't imagine.

I don't see how the government is announcing they'll hold people responsible.
It was the government themselves which authorized the holding of this material.
They seized the Moldovan ship (the Rhosus) in 2013, they arrested and detained the crew for months, boarded the cargo areas, cataloged and removed the cargo which they clearly identified (repeatedly) as ammonium nitrate.
They authorized it be stored at the port years ago.
There's nobody to blame but themselves. This was the fault of the police, the army, the legal system, the government at all levels, the port authorities and administrators.

In all fairness I can't blame Trump for saying it was a terrible attack because from all that we had seen something of that massive everybody was thinking it was an attack. And even if it wasn't an attack actively planned even if all of that had just been sitting there for 6 years and finally blew up it's an attack on the people from the ruling politicians who have done nothing about that problem for 6 years. Just like all the politicians responsible for the Flint Water Crisis should all be held criminally responsible for not doing anything about it and allowing it to build up

There's a picture on Reddit displaying an open door peaking inside the building containing the fireworks. It displayed large sacks of fireworks stacked on top of each other, right next to each other in several instances, in addition to more nightmare fuel for OSHA. I'd recommend it for a good perspective of just how this was an issue waiting to happen.

It was gross negligence no matter what started it. Anyway, beware of fraudulent fund raisers who take advantage of these situations to scam people. You can be sure the scammers are out there. Vet whoever you choose to donate to very carefully and DON'T give money to people at your door or in public places. These are almost always scams.

I am equal parts impressed, horrified, and awed by the size of that explosion. It s fascinating and incredible but that awe is tempered by the fact that so many peoples lives are now damaged and cut short.
My thoughts, prayers and money, what little I can give rn, are with you Lebanon. Your nation has been through enough.

I feel like it is going to be determined to be just pure negligence on the port personnel. Probably someone working in the port throwing out a lit cigarette that set the nearby warehouse on fire and it just spread. The difficult part of the investigation is going to be finding any of the evidence of what actually happened.

This is an incredible loss, and frankly. I expect these accidents to happen in the U. S. anyday now. Remember that school and stores destroyed in Texas from a nearby chemical plant. Unfortunately nobody's got time to fix any of it. Thanks Phil, going in on these topics shed light on how real it all really is. Cheers!

i'd love for you to highlight some of volunteer work being done by the people, people who are struggling financially are donating food, water, offering homes, helping clean to those who lost everything. i will personally be heading down tomorrow morning (after abt 10-11 hrs from now) and will be volunteering myself

And the government will never be held accountable. The country is starving because they have stolen ALL of the money. The monetary aid sent to the country will be stolen too, mark my words. People cannot even withdraw dollars from their banks because of the economic crisis. And then this happens.
