You absolutely can criticize someone for their personal beliefs. Firstly, religious freedom is about discrimination based on a persons religious belief. Criticism is not discrimination. It might lead to discrimination but it is not discrimination. Religious belief is a choice and if you put those beliefs out into the public sphere, it is fair game. If you are a Hindu, Christian, Mormon, and you do not put your beliefs out into the world, it would be impolite for me to criticize your beliefs but it would not be wrong to criticize your beliefs. Just like it wouldn't be wrong to criticize someone for believing that alien bodies are stored at Area 51, or that crystals have magical powers, but if the person you are criticizing never brought it up, it is sort of a dick move. If you are a person who is proselytizing or making public religious based statements and especially if you are a person that holds public office or has power over other people, then it is neither wrong nor impolite to criticize them for their beliefs. Not only have they put their beliefs out there, but we are not born with religious beliefs. We choose our religious beliefs. It would be more wrong to criticize someone for their natural hair color then it would to criticize them for their religious belief.

Lowkey i think everyone should just stay quiet when it comes to who they are voting unless they are in the pollical scene, even more so when you are celebrity because like or not you are technically manipulating people into voting for who you are voting for. Now i say knowing thats not true for everyone but there are people who will literally read or hear what you want and just do that just because you are celebrity and i dont think thats really right but the blame is also on those people for not being able to think for themselves. Honestly i think The Rock should just said hey listen you should go register to vote and go vote this election and thats it. I think thats sufficient.
Personally being neutral in almost everything is the way to go. You cater to everyone and no one hates you (obviously there will be salty people for not saying VOTE THIS PERSON but w. e)

I never understood the whole stay out of politics line to celebrities, and a lot of the time it's when a celebrity believes or endorses a candidate that doesn't align with the commenters (I've seen it happen more with Republicans commenters than Democrats but I don't doubt it happens. Like when Laura Ingraham told LeBron to shut up and dribble, however, if it was celebrities like James Wood, Tim Allen and Clint Eastwood who are all known republicans, they would be fine about them talking about politics. While I am not a republican myself and don't agree with their viewpoints, they're all (I'm assuming) people who vote, so why should they not speak freely about their opinions and views, regardless of what side of the aisle they're in.

if a public figure wants to talk about their political leanings, go for it. I'm not so delicate that it hurts me that somebody has an opinion on things. I'm also not so scared of opinions that might be different then opinions I may have, that I would feel the need to silence another person. And to go even further I'm not deluded enough to imagine any opinion I have on a thing makes me an expert or authority and that should be applied to any celebrity or public figure expressing an opinions. Basically, I respect anyones right to express their opinions, and I have some standards that have to be met to consider anyone an authority or expert.

I completely support celebrities and athletes' right to use their platforms to advocate for one position or another -- despite the fact that they're mostly unqualified and their takes are inane. But a lot of us tune in to sports and entertainment to specifically to get away from the news and the last thing we want is it blasted back in our face. So it makes some of us less likely to watch. Because of that, I also support team owners and studios who want their employees to run a low profile to avoid detracting from the product.

Can we, as humans who exist in this country, seperate ourselves at all from politics this year? I've held varied opinions in the past, but now I think that if you have a public platform of any sort, and you don't discuss how current events need to be addressed, your head is in the sand. Basic human decency, as well as our democracy, hang in the balance this year. Who can blithely ignore that?

I want to like the video but the sadness I feel about the political stuff I don't feel right doing it. I am preparing to leave this country because of the actual threat to my life at this time. Miss days when news was more fun and when voting either side didn't mean danger for the average minority or citizen. Love your work, DeFranco. Keep spread the news.

I don't understand the argument telling celebs to stay out of politics. Should a mechanic stay out of politics and only talk about cars? They're people who provide a service, produce a product, then continue being people. Politics effect them too and even if the rich do play by different/ basically no rules, they're still affected by the other players.
