You might think it's all about weight, but actually it's about friction. Two kinds of friction! In today's episode of Crash Course Physics, Shini Somara tells us about Static and Kinetic friction; how they work and how they're different

i have a question.
if we apply force to a static object and it doesn't move that means the force we applied to it is equal to its static fraction but why don't we assume that it might be less than its static fraction?
i mean it won't move in both cases

About crash course: Their edit cuts pauses after completing a sentence and it might be too fast for assimilation sometimes. Instead of watching twice to really understand I found effective to set the reproduction speed at 0. 75x for their videos

Can someone please explain me why static friction is not related to Newton's third law? Because these are quite similar concepts and I can't really grasp the difference. Thanks
And, by the way, is someone also watching in 0. 75 speed? :)

You are speaking too fast. Some of your words are not easy to grasp while watching I need to stop it first and replay it. But you have the mastery of the topic and I don't ahahahahaha

hate to be that person but her hair is really distracting. why is it so messy? (I'm not trying to dig on her looks)
otherwise great presentation and delivery. thanks: )

so im here because i dont feel like doing my homework and im studying friction in physics so im -watching this video for physics- eheheh and my dad is like oki

Your accent is really amazing and really rhymed with the way you talked it made it even more fun to watch! Thank you helped a lot you-re nice keep going

Wrt to me pushing the shelf from the left, can the frictional force acting on the the opposing side be considered as normal force?
reply

Alright, very-well, only thing I find hard to digest: How can I beleive these abstractions are going to correspond to reality?
