I was gonna chuck some of these guys in my aquarium, but only living a month and then having to sift their eggs out of the substrate to dry them so they will hatch when put back in is just too much of a hassle

Fun fact: Tadpole shrimp actually help enhance the rice fields, since the healthy plants are too tough to be eaten, so the tadpole shrimp are like an artificial-natural selection. Plus they eat weeds.

I'm from east central Arkansas. Largest rice producer in US. Seen rice planted ALL my life. Never seen it planted AFTER field is flooded. Here farmers plant BEFORE they flood their fields.

Perhaps it farmers flooded fields and waited a month before planting all the tadpole shrimp would have completed their lifecycle before the seeds are sown.
