Over the last 20 years, their funding has averaged $18 billion dollars. That sounds like a lot, and it definitely is. But its pennies compared to the amount spent on the US military, or social security and healthcare. Dont get me wrong, both are more important to immediately have. But would it hurt too many projects for social security and the military to re-direct another $20 billion annually? I mean, it cant be too much of a stretch, considering the potential valuable technology and materials that space exploration could yield. If deposits of precious metals like gold and palladium can be recovered from Mars or large asteroids, the potential gain is incalculable.
But, perhaps 400 new ICBMs and the largest air force is more actually more important. (Dont get me wrong, I love military tech, I just think sometimes we go a little far with our goals, only for them to be a large monetary catastrophe. Zumwalt destroyers, F-111 ardvark, and peacekeeper ICBM just to name a few.

The question isn-t whether we should solve problems on earth first and then do space exploration. It an - and also- not an -either or-.
In the US our budget for 2019 is over $ 4 T and yet NASA-s is only $20B. If we can-t be more disciplined in solving mankind-s problems with the $4T then another $0. 02T is irrelevant. Under the present way of being, space exploration would always wait, and the technology benefits of its investment to our nation would never be realized. Full stop.

So basically contrary to popular belief, our technological advancement didn't change direction from exploring space to better phones. Same technology just happened to have other practical uses for vast majority of Earth's population that have nothing to do with space exploration. Improvement of cameras and other every day technology isn't mutually exclusive with investing time into researching ways to colonize other planets, it's byproduct of that. Knowing this restores some pf my faith into humanity.

It's a bit weird how people argue against space exploration by pointing out problems here on Earth, like somehow exploring space means ignoring problems here. It doesn't and it shouldn't. We can focus on problems within our planet while also dedicating time to space. There's plenty of people here, plenty of people who can work on different things. So just because one person is going to space, it doesn't cancel out another person trying to provide food to those who need it. And vise versa.

Dark matter arises from a discrepancy between the motion of stars in a galaxy due to gravity and the mass we observe. Dark energy meanwhile is related to the expansion of the universe. The vast majority of the matter in the universe is suspected to be dark energy (thanks to E=mc-2, not dark matter.

The problems we have down here are controlled by the mentality of the society, I personally believe these problems are a mile ahead to be fixed, everyone doesn-t want to make a change, sadly this stops us from venturing out.
Personally I believe these problems are always going to be an issue, till the point the sufferer make a change or the people around him/her make a change.

10: 30 yep! A lot of great stuff came out of NASA. But Space X and Blue Origin are NOT NASA. If they developed something revolutionary that could improve countless lives, they would not let the public have that tech info for free. HELL NO! They would package and sell that shit super fast.
