This is the dumbest argument I have ever heard.
the fear of God has never prevented men from defending their nations, their interests and their LIFE, their WATER.
The only solution to decrease the pressure on the resource and not to provoke war is to decrease the birth rate.

If family planning is not managed to decrease the population, then the population will regulate itself through war. It's up to you to choose how you want to reduce the pressure on the available resource.

Per capita share in Egypt and Sudan-
The agricultural area in Ethiopia will double the agricultural area in Egypt and Sudan-
And you say that the dam will generate 6000 megawatts, and this is not correct. Watch the size of the small turbines and you know that there are 6 turbines-
Because 6000 MW does not need to store 73 billion meters of water-
In the simplicity of 20 million meters and a large turbine, this number could be produced-
And you forgot that it is an international river, and no country has the right to establish dams to prevent the flow of water to other countries-
Without an agreement, this is what Sudan and Egypt want

Egypt/Sudan had dams built for their benefit why not Ethiopia, where the blue Nile actually originate? Ethiopia need the dam for both electricity, flood/farming management and control. Don't forget the fact that Sudan can easily benefit from cheap electricity and avoidance of regular floods occurring in their land. just this year a number of towns including farm lands experienced floods in Sudan.
The three countries can work it out, if they put politics aside.
Hopefully the agreement will pave way to avoid similar confrontations when other upstream Nile countries (South Sudan, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania etc) decide/embark on similar projects in the future.

All the African Nile countries should cooperate in order to not hurt the river, Nile. The Nile was the location of 20, 000 years of African civilization. The Nile Water agreement was so unequal were 66% of the water go to Egypt and 16% to Sudan and the African countries who were sources of the Nile were ignored. The Egyptian government is wasting the Nile water by building artificial canals and lakes. The Nile originated in inner Africa as the Black Ancient Egyptians originated in inner Africa.

If Egypt try to attack Ethiopia, Egypt will be permanently died. Because Ethiopia have the key to control Nile not by war but by simple means. Ethiopia have to dig a small water catchment or water collecting pool in each village that all the water from mountain is captured for irrigation purpose. No more Ethiopian hunger to be heard. with little cost with no war. But Ethiopia thinks a fare share of the water if Egypt is willing to accept equitable use of water for the Nile region.

Ethiopia has what 12 to 9 other rivers use those rivers and build a dam on it. But they chose the Nile like why? plus it would drastically change the climate in the region if the water levels was affected. just were are the brains, people are selfish and everyone want to do anything for there own benefit. There are many solutions but we humanity are blind and wanna do what ever helps but may haram many

During normal operation of the Grand Ethiopian Dam in future, Egypt will surely get more water during dry season, and less flood during flood season. So Egypt will benefit a lot from the Ethiopian investment on the head reservoir, in which Egypt should support by providing at least 30% of the cost of project to Ethiopian government.

That 66/22 that you mentioned relates to the run off water that naturally flows into the territory of Sudan and then Egypt. So essentially that 1959 agreement between Sudan and Egypt was to divvy up the leftover between the two nations. That-s why Ethiopia and other Nile basin countries were note part of that agreement.

Thanks for sharing. Ethiopia should use this. Why is this a problem that Ethiopia is going to get electricity for a change & why wasn-t a problem when Egypt was building a dam. Look the English came and made sign. Africa should wake up. Unity only the way we change dependency of western world.

65% of Ethiopians doesn't use electricity, which means they deforest plants to cook food, to get light, which also lead desiccation in the area. so finishing the Ethiopian renaissance Dam quickly as much as possible is a solution to prevent Egypt from water scarcity.

The river should flow naturally, both Egypt and Ethiopia are wrong, the make the water to get lost by evaporation. Soon East Africa where the source of Nile start will block any more waste of water, we are monitoring any changes in the the great water bodies of East Africa.

I think the Dam in the long run benefits all where it retaining large amount of water upstream, when it eventually full will be release off to downstream. this help irrigate more lands in the future and provide more sustainable environment overall.

Most of the upstream nations are less developed than Egypt is. There is a compromise to be had here but insisting on sticking to a water share agreement drawn up by colonialists that excluded the countries supplying the river makes no logical sense.

Ethiopia generating over 85% of the water, and it has not used up a single drop yet, and a downstream nation with no common borders is threatening war. I guess we are living in a new world order, or else Egypt is deluded.

couldn't Egypt use desalination plants to help offset the loss of water from Ethiopia, also also if seawater does rise couldn't egypt build man made dams like the Netherlands to mitigate the loss of land to the sea
