D-DAY IN THE PACIFIC (Part 2): Americans Hunt Down The Imperial Fleet - Battle 360 - History Dana: June 19, 1944, the submarine USS Carvalla, (SS-244) sinks the IJN Shokaku, after reporting the location of Ozawa's fleet. The Albacore SS-218 had previously sunk the supercarrier Taiho. Without the reports from the Silent Service, the Enterprise would not have known where to sent their planes.
Contrary to your presentations, and giving the pilots and crew of the Enterprise their due, the defeat if the Imperial Japanese Navy was due to a combined effort of Naval personnel in a multitude of roles. Shame.

I still do not understand why japan started unlikely battle with u. s. In viewing all respects of both scope and capability, japan was not competitve at all. This battle can be compared enough to fight of baby and adult.

Is that the Douglas SBD Dauntless?
If so, those planes would have been successful bombing the enemy fleet.
Remember the battle of midway?

0: 25 We had a totally different Navy in 1944 than January 42. I just cannot get enough of looking at that image of all those fighter planes.
