Serial killers. Nations become glued to their televisions or news feeds when just the suspicion of a serial killer roams in their midst. The term serial killer has only been used since the late 1800s, and the term was used to describe the infamous and still unknown Jack the Ripper of Victorian England. Imagine a time when none of that existed, and where the upper class did not only live better, more luxurious lives, in many places, and at many times, they could kill with impunity. The ancient serial killers we have more knowledge about are those in the very upper and/or ruling classes. Today in this video we shall uncover some of the most notorious serial killers of the medieval age, people like Liu Pengli, Gilles de Rais, Vlad the Impaler, etc

Id say Vlad isnt a serial killer. I wouldnt even put the label killer on him, which is just my opinion. I would say he is more of a strategist working with the shitty hand he was dealt. He learned at a pretty young age that his country is just a playball for 2 neighbouring empires. His father gave him away to one of em as a bargain token. Then he came to power but struggled to keep it, even lost it at times just to regain. He hadnt had the manpower to do anything really, just was lend an army to play ball.
So what was he to do with his limited options and bigger powers knocking on the door? What would stop armies in thier track?
A display of terror.
And thats why I think he wasnt in it for personal pleassure. He propped them up for the enemies to see and endure or hopefully turn tail
Thats atleast one way to put manpower to use

I think that we know enough about modern serial killer. I was a bit disappointed in the time spent on that. The information on the ancients was very interesting. Thank you for all you research.

Ive always sort of wondered how serial killing played out in feudalist societies, in particular, people who were among the lower classes who were caught or suspected of these types of crimes.

State there is a werewolf in a school yard and noone believes you, but state there is a serial killer and everyone panics? what could be a reasonable explaination for this? I wonder.

You missed Elisabeth Bathory. But I'm sure you'll get around to her eventually. Also the Sawney Bean family in Scotland. oh wait, that's more 18th century.

OH I thought this would be either a hypothetical or a story about some deathbed confession. I already knew most of this stuff.

Most serial killers are not schizophrenic. Many may have some form of aspd or sociopathy/psychopathy but not schizophrenia.

Good video, however Vlad ruled Wallachia not Transilvania, he is a respected leader even to this day here.

Schizophrenics should be forced to take medication or locked up.
I'm bipolar and I take my meds every day.
