This video is nonsense and couldn't be less professional. It has no historical correctness and it describes the Bulgarians as if they were greedy. On the contrary, all these lands were densely populated mainly with Bulgarian people and were considered the mother land for them, while everybody being scared that the Bulgarians were quite a lot, didn't want a strong and united Bulgaria.
And Bulgaria didn't want to get more land than it was previously negotiated between the allies during and after the Balkan war. Bulgaria was cheated by Serbia and Greece, who wrongfully invaded the freed territories without having the right to do so, while Bulgaria carried the entire war against the Ottomans alone and was the reason to defeat the Ottomans.

Hungarians ask: is that much?
Hungary's Prime Minister voted against declaring war on Serbia, but as part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Kingdom of Hungary became a belligerent in World War I.
No countries lost so much territory as Hungary did after WW I: more than 2/3 of its territory, and millions of Hungarians became part of another country.
And the most shameful thing: even the war starting Austria got territories from Hungary.
Nonetheless, we feel with you, Bulgarians.
Cheers!

If we are talking about losing much land and basically starting in one place on the planet and completely moving some 200 km westwards in the end, why don't you take a grander look att Lithuania. And the fact it became non existent for the latter decade of the 18th century and the entire 19th century only to pop back into existence after WWI. Only to disappear after WWII and popping back into existence when the Soviet union collapsed.

Little corrections: the province that existed between 1878 and 1885 was called Eastern Rumelia, not just Rumelia. Also, in 1885 Bulgaria had to fight a war with Serbia, who got upset over the new borders with the unification, which was won by Bulgaria. In 1908, when Bulgaria proclaimed its independence from the Ottoman Empire, it became a Tsardom, not a Kingdom, with Ferdinand I becoming the new Tsar.

Always looking forward to a simple history video. Some other topics I'd love to see.
Why did the Colonials dress up as Native Americans during the Boston Tea Party?
Why did Alexander the Great not conquer Sparta?
What happened to the 2 Bill/50 cent coin?
Why were the Dutch allowed to trade with the Tokugawa Shogunate?

After the first Balkan war Serbia kept Ohrid, which was part of the Bulgarias sphere of influence, as part of the agreement before invading the Ottomans.
Serbia kept the region so Bulgaria invaded. The invasion was not justified, lacking a proper declaration of war. After the loss Bulgaria lost all of the Macedonia region.

It isn t fair that you did not comment on the ethnic composition of the territories The Balkans do not fit into typical imperialistic / colonial ideas. Bulgarians were trying to protect their people outside of their borders, who were repressed. The Great powers just did what was in their interest and ruined the lives of locals.

Well, at least our country now has the shape of a lion, similar to our national currency lev, which also means lion. Thank you for the great video and yes we indeed made lots of mistakes in the past and continue making them. Macedonia is our ill subject as we call it in Bulgaria, they perfectly know why.

The Second Balkan War was also pretty much a direct precursor of WW1, since the instability of the region was one reason why Franz Ferdinand was visiting Serbia and why militant nationalists like the Black Hand were prominent enough to plan the assassination of major world leaders.

The territories Bulgaria wanted were populated by majority Bulgarians. This wasn't just some mindless land grab spree. Also, most of the neighbours mistreated the Bulgarian civilians living in these territories, and Bulgaria was responsible to fight for them - at all costs.

History Matters and Oversimplied alone taught us more about history than our schools ever did. In fact, they should show these videos in schools, so it not only gets the kid's attention, but also gives them the gist of it and then they can go into more detail later on.

But Macedonia needed to be partitioned with Bulgaris, Greece, Albania & Serbia. Coz frankly their is no Slavic Macedonian notion in history.
Plus they shud've let to keep the coastal Thrace as a seaport in the Aegean.
This bit is unjust for them

It's not that Bulgaria decided it hadn't been given enough in the recent war, it was that Serbia was occupying lands (Macedonia) that were promised to Bulgaria following the First Balkan War and Serbia wasn't willing to give them up peacefully.

Fun Fact: Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria and Archduke Franz Ferdinand absolutely hated each other, to the point that when travelling on the same train the Tsar wouldn't let the Archduke go through his carriage to get to the dining car

1: 12 just proves how much of a joke it is to celebrate the 3rd of March (the peace treaty in San Stefano) as THE national holiday of Bulgaria. 1: 23 or 1: 28 are much more suitable events for celebration.

This definitely reminds me of Bolivia losing a lot of its own territory during several years of its own existence. I would love to see a video on why that country lost most of its territory.
