How did the Ottomans overcome a Civil War? History of the Ottoman Empire (1400 - 1500) The 4 most important factors in the rapid expansion of the Ottoman Empire:
1. The Ottomans employed steppe war tactics that Europeans were not familiar with. And the Ottomans made good use of gunpowder, cannons and hand cannons that the Mongols learned from China and brought to the Middle East. A century later, Europe developed the arquebus and the Ottomans adapted this new technology to their armies and developed this type of weapon further.
2. Because the war with Christians was religiously appreciated by the Turkish people in Anatolia, the Turkish people migrated from other Beyliks in Anatolia and joined the Ottoman army.
3. The Ottomans were in a region far from Mongol oppression. For this reason, Turkish tribes migrated to the Ottoman lands. Thus, the Ottoman Empire could settle this Turkish population in the new lands it conquered.
4. The Ottoman tolerance of the Christian civilian population and did not press for forced conversion, which protected the Ottomans from great Christian revolts even during the Ottoman weakness, such as the struggle for the throne\r\n

None of the Greek Ionian Islands were taken by the Ottomans. Corfu remained with Venice for the entire 300 years. Only for 21 years was Kefalonia occupied by the Turks. Venice captured St George, and Kefalonia, occupying the island for 300 years. The most southern tip of the Peloponnese was never taken by the Turks either. Mani always was and will always be Greece.

Vlad was monster. He was gay and perverse. Killed many innocent people from in and out of his ruled territory by means of oily stakes. As Mehmet saw this scenary of km of people dead by stakes along side the road. He chose to left him in his misery.

The real question here is why was the Byzantine Empire to direct descendants of the Roman Empire unable to defend the Balkans from the Ottoman Turks? What happened to the traditions of warfare of the Roman Emperors and of Alexander the Great?
reply

Fun fact: Bayezid and Timur send letter to each other in which they roasted one another. Timur compared Bayezid to and ant, while Bayezid wrote his name in big golden letters, while he wrote Timur's name in small black ones

14: 26 What a Sultan. Rare to see anyone treating someone of different religion equally and especially threatening with the punishment of death, especially when it comes to Jews back then

Dracula was defeated by his brother Radu. Mehmed II also tried to conquer Roma so he sent his troops to control Otranto. One year After he conquered Otranto, he was sick and died.

14: 40 Then, Judea betrayed Ottoman Empire by allying with British Empire in order to claim Palestine during WWI. A remarkable stab in the back that nobody talks about.

Great video, but like every other empire before or since the Ottoman one ended in tears after the First World War; and they didn't do too well in Armenia in 1915, did they?
reply

Ottomans should have been more like Bayezid, less concerned with -glorious- (often costly) conquests and more concerned with the health and prosperity of the empire.

So Mehmed 2 didn't wanna fight Vlad. But Dracula untold and other Western BS said Vlad fight fiercely? JK, this is good cause I learned something new now. ThX

reply

Seeing this makes me realize eu4 was inaccurate. They have karaman independent in 1444 and that Albania was in revolt. could be that or this misses details
reply

Bayezid was the peaceful ruler in a line of conquerors
For the longest time I believed he was never distinguished, until I read that sentence again-

Another mistake, Skanderberg was a Serbian nobel who rule over territory of Albania and have mixed army with both Serbian, Albanians, Greeks.
reply

Timur was wise enough to confirm Mehmed Celebi as the new sultan when all brothers were alive. In the end, he got the power anyways. Interesting!

Pls can you make a video about Skenderebeg (Albanian resistence) and another one about Muhammed Ali the Albanian who founded Modern egypt?
reply

Real name Janosh (not John) Hunyadi, Djuradj Kastrioti (6 May 1405 - 17 January 1468, known as Skanderbeg was Serbian not Albanian
reply

Skanderberg of Albania is hardly mentioned while defeating the Otomans for 25 years straight, only falling to a desease. Lame!
reply

Rest of video is accurate. Only one fact is changed. Meh med killed Vlad Dracula and brought his head back to Constantinople
reply

Fun fact: Mehmet the first was only 15 when the conflict between brothers started. And this conflict ended after 11 years.

Murad II didn't die in Adrianopol, he was killed by an assassin in Kosovo Field Battle. And his -tekke- is still in Kosovo.
