Just looking at the map in the opening of the video, it does look like Rome was located in a fertile part of Italy in the Tiber River Valley. Also I think the Tiber was navigable and Rome was built at an important ancient ford, so Rome was at a trade nexus.
So maybe better croplands and strong economy = more resources & a larger manpower base?
The Po River basin in North Italy would have been my first choice for the birth place of an imperial power. But I recall reading the Po was marshy and heavily forested in ancient times, so not ideal for agriculture.\r\n

What this video doesn't mention is that-around this time-the Romans constructed the -aqueducts- carrying clean water into the city from very high altitudes 50 miles away.
This, along with the -Cloaca Maxima-, as well as public latrines, more than 800 public bathhouses, and more than 1200 fountains, greatly improved health and sanitation for the republic.
Thus, the Roman men became far stronger and healthier than their neighbors, and the birthrate skyrocketed.

As much as I can appreciate the elaboration of this story, and the articulate way of putting it together, you might need to check the facts about Pyhrrus (the real name is Pirroja i Epirit, King of the southern Illyric tribes, who are not Greeks but Illyrians - modern day Albanians; with all respect to Greeks and their history, at least the establishment of these facts deserves a more accurate research.

to give an example: Did Washington conquer the southern states during the American Civil War? no, she united them to the northern states! . perhaps with this example the author of this video is also able to understand the history of Rome

I got this before I even watch. Having played -History of the World- board game many times. The Etruscans get totally ripped off as in the very next epic Rome is awarded TWENTY armies! That's like, the height of Rome's power! But nooooo, why wait? Just GIVE the Roman's twenty armies to start with! It isn't even close Rome always gets all of Italy and much more.

What BS! More like serious blunder of a war launched by entrenched Southern politicians who thought they - unlike the Northern states - had nothing to lose.
Unfortunately for the North, the Royal Navy got to engage in a lot of target practice against their ports and shipping.

There is no additional reason for the fact that Germania is mostly vast and cold forests hard to live in for the Romans that would have to keep them? I knew this was the case. If it was a beautiful land they would have conquered it. After all, it didn't worth. Those stubborn tribes would have bothered the Empire ad infinitum.

Romans had serous problems even in 100 BC, when Gauls regularly raided Roman territory. Roman Empire had global supremacy from 50 AD to 200 AD. After that, civil wars started and incursions of Barbarians. . So much about eternal and invisible Roman Empire myth, that many like to advertise.

I-m sorry but Pyrrus was not greek. He was from Epirus and the tribe of Molosians. When he was about 5 years old he was saved by the Illyrian king of the Taulanti tribe, Glauk. Greek writers of the time wrote that Epirotes were barbarians (meaning not greek). They were Illyrian.

Correct me of I'm wrong. the Romans would have still been fighting in phalanx formations at this point in time. However here they are depicted as stereotypical legions with advanced armour and weapons that they would not have had at this point in time!

what the hell you mean? how the romans conqued italy? the romans were italic people. regardless who they beat in italy. the first romans were italic's or ancient italians, they werent german or anything other than that.

How big were these early armies of that era. I guess somewhere around 10-15K average and 20K maximum if 6K alone were causalities.
