Actually, Canada has a more interesting history. The British originally called it the Commonwealth Northern Dominions, a real mouthful, so of course they formed a royal commission to study the matter. Royal commissioners were selected, a meeting hall was arranged, and they argued into the night. Sir Burger Land was rejected and other similar personal names. Coldavia was suggested and rejected. Tempers were getting short. Finally the janitor blew his top. He wanted to get home to his family, it was snowing outside. Why don't you just abbreviate the damned thing! They looked around, startled at being so rudely interrupted. What What are you talking about, little man That was it, his temper blew up. Commonwelath Northern Dominions, yee blesssed fools! C, eh! N, eh! D, eh! and he stomped off home.

I like how factually clear and unbiased this is. He didn't claim that the natives were all peace loving tree huggers and the settlers were all evil and genocidal. He didn't talk about the slave trade and immediately condemn the Europeans. This is how history should be taught. Did Europeans do bad things Yeah but so did everyone else. The difference is the Europeans had a wealth a technological advantage which allowed them to defeat their enemies (making them into martyrs or victims) and the advantage allowed them do commit these atrocities on a much larger scale.

The colonization of America involved European powers establishing settlements and gaining control over vast territories in North and South America, driven by economic, political, and religious motivations. This process spanned centuries, from the late 15th century until the 18th century, with the Spanish, English, French, and Dutch playing significant roles.

How the Natives have or mine gold if not have any knowledge of metallurgy prior to Euro arrival Can you mine for metals with wooden and stone tools But if they smelting the gold into ingots surely, they must have realized they can do that with stones, and break up and discover different elements like copper, tin, iron, etc etc and develop metallurgy.

Good video. people need to understand, you can’t change what happened-this is history. When people get upset and get anxious about happened in the past-they need to realize if it didn’t happen they would be here today to complain about the past

Funny the map of Ireland is the most annoying, you have Ulster covered in red in 1585, Ulster didn't come into control of England until 1607. Also great Britain didn't exist then either, which only came into being in 1701 with the act of union.

I am surprised that no Native American leaders ever prohibited the consumption of alcohol for real at all. And by that, I mean they actually enforced the probihition, of course.
P. S: Do you guys think Thanos believed in mercantalism

Great video! Really got me thinking about colonization in a geo-political lens. I had no idea that the East Coast Native Americans had such extensive societies that trading outposts were viable creations for the European powers.

How can they trade, marry, and work together when coming into contact, or being near or sharing germs is totally fatal to Natives Surely they must have connected the dots from their sudden epidemics to the White Man.

Over 50% of the world’s borders today were drawn as a result of British and French imperialism, it’s crazy how the Anglo-French rivalry shaped the whole world

Important to note that at the time, Portugal only had a population of over 1 million. Such a small number but able to control so much territory
