Adolescent brains don't fully develop until the age of 16; so before that age, what happens when they do play violent video games? When they're playing games that reward violent behavior (the more you kill or destroy, the greater the rewards, they become desensitized to the things they're seeing.

Now, what if the game is sadistic? Guess what, they'll associate sadistic actions as a positive stimulus. That is what's called Classical and Operant Conditioning. When you condition someone (or thing, i. e. Pavlov's dog) to react a certain way by rewarding them, then they will act on it, because it is associated with a good thing. They will want more of it, as a result.

Now violent video games in itself will not turn anyone into robots, but it will likely desensitize them to the suffering of others. It will be associated with a good thing to adolescents. This is especially true with TROUBLED YOUTHS. who does not have a strong moral compass, nor do they have a father and mother figure. Where do they go for guidance which includes ways of coping with their problems? From their environment. That can range from their fellow students who are also troubled to cults and street gangs which is why so many inner-city kids gravitate to them because they don't have a family.

And when they go to them, are they going to learn healthy coping methods when they're bullied or frequently mistreated by their peers? Of course not, and all the while, they're playing VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES. guess what they wished to do with their bullies, the popular, and stuck-up fellow students? They'll probably want to be the AVENGING HERO who takes vengeance against the world that hates them.

Far from being horrified by the pain and suffering they've inflicted upon them, they'll relish it because they're living out their fantasies. Dennis and Harris Klebolt who murdered their fellow students and teachers, did they feel any compunction over their deeds? You can argue that case but the fact is that they did not stop murdering until they killed themselves when the police approached.

Hmmmm. I'd have to say no, they don't cause aggression and/or anger. Because while we do pick up things from the media we consume, we aren't always directly affected by it. Most of the articles that I've read about people attacking others and/or killing others because of films/games/etc. were people who weren't quite stable from the beginning.
In fact, violent videogames help us reduce and express our anger and anxieties in ways we couldn't do in real life. I remember playing GTAV and being very angry about something before I started playing. I went on a killing spree, laughed at silly deaths and my anger was forgotten. It helps a lot for people who are introverts actually, as introverts tend to bubble up their emotions and not show them to anyone. Seeing how most gamers are introverts or at least ambiverts.
Violent videogames affect people in different ways because we are all different and don't have the same responses as others. So, while I believe they do not cause aggression, there are aspects that say otherwise. It's kind of hard to completely analyse.

When we read a book. Our brain lights up the regions that are identical to doing physical exercise. So video games. I guess must do something similar. I once played a game called ' Fall out 3' for 2 week solid and made decision in the the game that throygh my choices would influence howmy journey would be and how others would interact with me within the game. . So I guess this can educate the gamer and teach certain moral and consequential decision making with this form of technology and interaction. P. S I believe I made some good choices and thoughrally enjoyed this title as on completing this epic first person. The graphics and ending is awesome.

They cause aggression the same way things like football, hockey, and every other sport out there. They all have one thing in common, and that is the fact they're all competitions with the participants competing against one another to achieve victory.
In anything where there is competition and participants are competing against one another, they're going to get competitive and are going to get aggressive.
This is nothing unique to video games, where there is competition there is going to be aggression and yet we don't see people starting witch hunts over something like football sparking aggression now do we?

It really depends on what the game makes you feel after. If you play a game that leaves you all frustrated, then you're bound to find other ways to release it like aggression. And since you would have learnt the combat techniques of the game you are more likely to mirror them irl. But if you play easy game which is not frustrating you much you probably wouldn't have any potential anger issues. When I played dark souls I felt so frustrated that I felt a rage that would make me break everything around me. But since I stopped it I actually have reduced levels of anger, anxiety, frustration and I'm much happier: .

Tell tale Games like the life is strange series or are actually a type of game genre that should calm down the player.
Games Like Garry's Mod or Gang Beasts are mostly fun to play, Specially with friends.
Competitive Games Like CS GO, Rocket League or my Favorit Game Left 4 Dead 2 (yes it have a competitive mode named Versus) are these type of games where you can be really Aggressive.

I am totally on the boat that it doesn't increase violence. In me it decreases violence as I can take it out on fictional, non-living character that know not the pain I am about to put them through. Of course, some people that watch me play might think I am criminally insane because of the horrible shit I do to the characters on screen. I'd have to say that 99% of my kills on DOOM 2016 are brutal kills.

The reason violent video games make people violent in the short term is because the brain needs to act that way to function properly in those games (duh. Now a study i wanna see is the short term effects of playing a game that causes players to feel intense emotions, via character deaths or actions. Test this in the short term and long term, and compare those results to people who don't play those games.

My parents say video games make me more violent, but they make me get off in the middle of a competitive match of overwatch or csgo, its like. you guys know you'd be pissed off too, they just catch me at the wrong times, if im not in a match, its whatever, if its casual, whatever, if its comp, im actually trying and if i lose a lot of rank+penalty cause parents make me get off.

I don't think kids become more violent, but they were already violent and were attracted to the game. Also is just me but news always say kids are spending too much time on games and say the game is addictive. Well this may be true but 1 be a parent and say hey maby my kid spending 20 hours a day is bad 2 why won't they say this about anything else for example phones.

I am twenty and seventeen of them were spent playing Legend of Zelda, American Macgee's Alice, Super Mario, GTA, Fallout, Alan Wake, Uncharted, Borderlands, NieR series. _slowly drifts into a long list of every Zelda title_ I have no kind of aggression. I get mad when I play games. I get it from my Dad my mom said my dad used to play video games when he was young. He broke a controller and threw his game thing he was playing on. He doesnt play games anymore because. of that. I never get that mad to break something, but thats where I get from.

I always play Samurai warriors 4 or Orochi Warriors 3 Ultimate whenever I'm sad, angry or just want to sleep but can't. It really helps to calm me down. I don't think Video games cause aggression BUT it can cause it when its played at the wrong age.

My biggest issue with the whole video games cause violence claim is that if someone really is letting a work of pure fiction influence their actions in the real world, then chances are they were already mentally unbalanced to begin with.

Well, NO! That's only becuase of somebody's personality. As a kid if I lost a video game about 1392 times I wouldn't be that mad. But now I would kinda quit playing the game. (I play games that are really HARD)
