This is my story with school in a nutshell and facts about homeschooling that improved my mental health. Be patient, this is long.
I'm saying this now so it may make more sense, but I have Aspergers syndrome, and I won't say what school I went to, because I don't want people making trouble there. But even at pre-school, I was treated like an animal because I was 'just another I. U. ' kid.
In elementary school, All but one teacher verbally hurt me, and there was a lot of physical violence in one of the classes. This is when I started feeling scared around adults and other kids, and had suicidal thoughts at the age of 6 or 7.
My mom thankfully pulled me out of that school as soon as she could, which was about 3rd grade, and ever since then I've been homeschooled. I go to c-ops, theater groups, and even got a job just recently at a haunted house attraction.
Another reason I believed I was struggling socially and educationally in public school was because my mind was refusing to follow their rules like a puppet, and I'm now successfully driving down my dream career of being a cartoonist, which is what that school despised.
Sorry for the long rant, I just. Wanted to put it out there in case anyone gets bored in the comment section!

School in itself has some benefits, sure but it's definitely not for everybody. I was always taught the illusion of collage = money. Money = better life and all the things you could want if you follow such formula. In reality, a lot of my deep rooted issue's including the emotional, mental stress and level of anxiety stemmed from and started in the school environment and it's hindered my learning in ways i never knew until i was away from it to reflect and tell the difference. Now that i'm away from school, i'm able to concentrate, learn in an anxiety-free pace, find myself, and take time to heal and progress most importantly. I'm still learning thanks to resources like the Internet. They didn't have online classes when i was in school so, it felt like there was only one way to learn essentially and for the longest time, the education system seems to be falling behind. Schools need a revamp all around curriculum wise. Most schools are even built like prisons (at least where i'm from. No windows in some rooms, the cafeteria, locker rooms, etc. Kind of ironic isn't it. XD Not here to paint schools in a bad light but school should be fitted to properly educate the youth for the future, not the other way around.

To be honest I probably dropped out of vocation School when I was like maybe 25 or 26 at the time I started to realize that it wasn't for me because basically I'm very passionate about art and I'm thinking maybe it would be time just to quit school and just get my ticketed of compression to be honest I only quit school because my grandma got sick then my grandpa got sick and I was worried about them everyday till they both be gone to be honest I'm starting to believe school might not be the best thing for me as I got up hang out with friends chatting with people online for a project we come together as friends and allies to achieve I still really want to learn about art how I get better at it and I think that's the only thing on my mind right now is to follow my passion and not what other see what I can and cannot do the world is changing and I should basically play part of that world as well don't you guys agree?

For me as a college student, I can say that school has definitely left me feeling like I'm standing on my last two support beams. I've been told since I graduated high school that it's preferred that attending college would help with retaining what routine I had in school, but a routine for me didn't exist. I'm way more stressed out than I've been before and also had second thoughts on dropping all of my classes, even though I won't get a refund for any of the classes. Now I'm just looking to make some more money and possibly find my own way of doing what I'm interested in and doing what I love to do. To me, school feels like a hindrance on what I look forward to doing and what I hope to do, even if it takes me a little longer than I expected. I don't look forward to continuing my education, but it ultimately feels like something I am forced to do, just to get it over with.

I've stopped school at a young age (14) due to being anti social, 27 now and Im still the same way sometimes, really depends on the person and places I'm at, only downfall is that I don't work currently, been fortunate enough to get by all this time (mom) but on the road to start my own small business hope luck is on my side here!
Also I wouldn't advise kids to stop school at such a young age due to any reason, unless you know you have something to fall back on as time goes on, Luckily for many in this time 2020 we have now moved to online schooling, it's something I was dreaming of in 2006-2008, I definitely know I wouldve been able to successfully finish if that was around then

I think school might be more enjoyable if we just learned like the basics of everything (Ex: numbers, addition, subtraction, letters, making sentences that make sense, some places in the world) in elementary/primary school and middle to high school we choose what we want to do with life and learn the basics (only if what youre doing branches off into different categories (like art) then after we learn the basics, we see what we want to do (like i want to do digital art and stuff) and learn more about it. Then we learn about things like how to pay bills and youre basically free
Instead of learning everything but important life skills and not use anything you learned

School is alright with the right kinds of teachers and given interest in what you want to learn. Though as far as real world applications not so much. And you leave highschool having no skills or knowledge needed for the real world. For instance I'm horrible at math. Yet to get get most jobs they require you to know math even when it won't really be used.
And you leave highschool having dreams and passions but not sure how you can peruse them in the real world. There's no time to even peruse your passions like art and creativity.
School was made for training for factories. And has never changed even though the world around us has

This is how I feel about school: I wish there was a way to go at my own pace. Sometimes school moves too fast for me and I have to go to my teachers every day for lunch to get help. I get good grades, but its EXTREMELY stressful. Sometimes I wish I could homeschool online because that would solve the pacing problem, but I wouldnt be able to experience making friends, participating in school clubs or sports, or meeting new teachers and going on trips. So I dont know what to do. Any help from you guys would be nice and appreciated. :)

I tried to ask my dad to get me out of school, or at least just get me into homeschooling. But he doesn't listen. I wish he would listen for once and doesn't immediately jump into conclusions. I wanted to tell him how school is tremendously pressuring me to a point I don't even feel like getting out of bed anymore. Much less taking on life. But when I did, he didn't let me finish my sentence, and he also just brushed the topic off and told me school will help me get hammered into something great. But haven't I been hammered enough?

I'm in college and studying in the field I want but I find I'm learning more from proffessional in that field than the teachers. I want to go into visual arts. It requires patience and time that the school doesn't want to give young artist starting out. It also teaches you very little about techniques and tricks to create the professional art to start off in that field. Then again, I feel myself drawn to school because they taught me details I wouldn't thought of before. I am in between being self-taught and college.

I unfortunately may not even be starting my senior year. My mom is strongly encouraging me to drop out and get my GED instead (because she hasnt finished the paperwork required for reenrolling me, and doesnt want to. Ive always had issues with school, high school being the worst so far, and the last two years specifically have been horrendous. But, I was excited for my classes this year and really wanted to redeem myself. I guess not.

I'm currently a junior in high school, and multiple times have I been so stressed because of my learning environment, that I can't even do simple things that I was able to do last year, because I'm so distracted from stress and anxiety. My school is shoving college down our throats, which has caused me to be stressed about what I'm even gonna do, and if I'm even good enough for college. Thank you so much for this video.

Isn't it lovely how in some countries you get this thing that's sort of like a student loan except when you're finished with school you're not rotting in a pile of endless dept, no. Because you see you never borrowed the money, it was given to you by the government because people pay enough taxes to pay for educations that enable them to get well paying jobs so they can pay enough taxes to fund a working education system. :)

Honestly I have great grades, so school isn't a problem but I'm starting to realize that I want to learn more than school can teach me and I want to be more creative than what I'm told to be.
One of my teachers once told that he couldn't explaine something to me because he didn't know and that isn't ok. School isnt being useful and most things that I learn, I learn alone. But the real question is. How to improve school:

School has always been difficult for me. Not only the educational aspect of it, but the socal aspects too. For one, I am a night owl so I can't gety brain to shut down before 11pm. For two, I have a form of high functioning autism called Asperger's which, although it is high functioning, makes it hard for me to make good, long-lasting friends. Unfortunately, I am not part of the small group with Savant's

So. how do we tell our parents to let us leave school because times a changing and school may not be the greatest future for us millennials? We see all this videos saying how more successful those without fancy degrees are than those with one. But how do we get there? How do we achieve this status of freedom? How do we break though the metaphorical barriers that are the current school systems?

I loved university. I went to a state school on a scholarship, studied a subject that I love and that has broad market application, learned important critical thinking skills, and after graduation landed my dream job that pays 5x my previous salary and allows me to work from home using my brain alone. So school may not be for everyone, but it made my life a heck of a lot better.

I never hated school until I got to high school, I started to become depressed. I started writing when I was a freshman and I found myself enjoying it and English is my favorite subject. I start off with fan fiction and I am now working on an original fiction story. I hope it becomes well love that it becomes a anime or animation show or just gets views.

I've been working a full time job as a staff accountant and am going to school to get my bachelor's in accounting. This way I get my experience by the time i finish my degree and will be able to land a solid job when I graduate. I have one more year!
Downside is it's a trade off of my social life (Not that I much of one anyways =p)

I think school is not quite for me. I love education and learning things. But I think the education system does not suite me. I tried to complete my A levels but it didn't quite work out. Still I'll give college a try and maybe it will be better. Regardless I'll still give my absolute best.

School is definetly not for me. I'm only 18 and I'm sure of it. I felt like I had to be absolutely perfect in school and always get high marks but I wasn't taught any valuable skills. I had a tech class once but that didn't even teach me much. And as for college. yeah I'll look elsewhere.

Last year, my school's schedule time was 7: 30 am to 4: 00 pm. Its not the schedule I wanted, but it's still bearable anyway. But now, the schedule time is 7: 00 am to 5: 00 pm. So I guess people there think that if we have more school time, we get smarter and that kind of crap.
