Actually eye contact isn't a sign. Many people don't like eye contact (me included) and a liar will actually look you straight in the eyes as if they are watching to see that you believe them.
The direction they look can be a giveaway as well: if they look to the right, they're remembering. If they look to the left, they're making something up. It could be the other way around for left handed people. Try it on yourself - remember something that happened and notice where your eyes go, then make up a scenario and notice which direction your eyes go. Test a person by asking them something you already knows the answer to and watching which direction their eyes go.
Defensiveness is another red flag for lying. If they get defensive or angry over a simple question, something's up. If they accuse you of interrogating them over a fair question, they're hiding something.
Another interesting one is they over-explain. EG: you ask a question and they answer, you remain silent (or a simple mm quietly as though you're thinking) and they think you don't believe them so they continue talking and add details that they normally wouldn't (and sometimes trip themselves up in doing so. This one is actually funny to watch. I'm at the stage where I just laugh to myself when it happens and just say ok.
I was married to a man who lied constantly to me. I always caught him out with proof in whatever way (too many to explain but him lying about drinking and me coming across beer cans hidden in the garage is one - lol he should've known I'd eventually be searching in that area for a tool) which is more painful than him telling me he'd lied because he was only sorry he got caught in the lie. A good show to watch is Lie To Me. It's quite interesting and I did a lot of research into his method after watching that.

So I caught my friend leaving me from a call to join my other friends saying she was PLAYING WITH HER FAMILY FRIEND Then she left and I asked her to join and she said her family friend hated all her friends. I BOUGHT IT- Then my sister tells me that they're all playing with each other in this game and they invite her to the GC WITHOUT ME. THEY HAVE 6. And so I obviously get mad and call her out for it AND SHE TELLS ME. Bye, Btch. Then we start arguing. She says that no one likes me and that i don't like that game. BUT I WAS JUST PLAYING THAT WITH HER. I also had a LOT of trust issues back then and it made it worse. I started crying for 2 days straight and left school for 4 days. IT WAS BAD. And so I kinda- maybe ruined her life by telling everyone and making everyone hate her then make her take 2 days off school then telling a teacher and then getting her suspended for 4 days- So. LIKE IF YOU GOT TOXIC FRIENDS TOO. OR IF YOU GOT TO THE END. Ps. She got removed from her school roles like captain of sports teams in PE and stuff.

Well i found a friend in a game called Roblox my friend was called Kla he was one of my Best friends, i was one of his favorites, we had fun, so much fun, until. He started a argument, we got angry so. We haven't seen each other for a year

When I lie, I truly think I DID that LIE. I am just a veteran of lying. If I said I didn't eat the chips, my mind agrees and says so aswell. If I say I like a video game, my mind does aswell. It's all about the MIND, the body expression is controlled by the mind.
Also lying is easier if the person you're lying to already knows how you act normally, if they find out or know you're ALWAYS lying then they will always be suspicious of you lying. It's also about keeping a good relationship. If you haven't been caught lying, you are less likely to be caught. Also more on the if they know how you act, if your always busy with something ex. playing games, working, watching. Acting angry that someone interrupted you while you were busy might just get em to back off. Now I feel like an antagonist or Light

I've always had trouble making eye contact because I had an extremely abusive mother. I was afraid to look at her because she was always so angry and I was so terrified of her. I was afraid that if I looked at her she would get mad and hit me, so trust me, she would beat the living hell out of me if she even suspected I might be lying. If anything, I was too honest. My self esteem was so low that I couldn't look at anyone because I saw myself as a nobody, so please don't accuse abuse survivors of being liars. Between the C-PSTD and always feeling like we're not good enough we really don't need to be painted as liars when we're not trying to deceive anyone. We're just trying to protect ourselves.

There wasnt any of these but there was one time, it happened in 2nd where in recess someone by the name of Jesse, said that I was pulling his shirt, he said it was from body to head when he told the TRUTH and he was LYING, I tried convincing that i did not do it but she believed him instead of me. When that happened, she told me to pay her 20 dollars (it was fake btw) so i payed her but before i payed her, a girl named Melissa said what happened, i tried to say what happened, but I didnt have time, i still do NOT forgive him to this day.

It needed a whipping down, maybe a little reorganization, but thats it. However, my phone wasnt dead, and I wasnt grounded. So I took a picture of the table before I cleaned it, and then showed my father after I finished cleaning.

I'm just gonna share a story about my lier friend:
She said she was not that rich but she said her father's bank account had 7billion inside of it and her mother's bank account had 10 million. And then. I talk about this topic to her after 3 months and she said what? When did I say that? or what? I never said that she likes gaslighting people alot too.

I can't say any story or anything that happened to my backwards even if am not lying. My brain just forgets about details when saying things differently. Its the same as if you studiet for school but they won't let you say it in order from A to D but instead starts to ask you questions in C, B, D, A and your brain would be just melted.

I'm only 10 and i watched this video. In the fourth grade i met a girl in my class, and i saw that no one really liked her. I thought she was innocent and became friends with her. But just after a few days i noticed that she was lying to me a lot. This video helped me catch most of her lies. Thank you psych2go.

Watch how they treat others. If they lie to family, coworkers or other friends on phone without blinking an eye, it means telling lie is their style of living. They will lie to you 100%. Its hard to accept emotionally, but really it's easy to see who is a liar if you truly observing their behavior.

I dont like looking people dead in the eyes, Ill make eye contact but when it gets or feels intense I get uncomfortable. Its a normal feeling so.
Also (Im not trying to use ADHD as an excuse btw) I have ADHD so are random my blinking will get fast then slow down

Love a lot of your content, but wow this one is incredibly off base.
Ive got ADHD and exhibit most of these, and Ive been accused of lying my entire life. Also the eye contact one is linked culturally here in the west.

The worst lair I caught was my ex, who told me they loved me before breaking up with me about 3 days later.

Not being able to look someone in the eye consistently could just be cause they have ADHD or autism. Its actually one of the biggest tell tales if someone has them.
