#8 not true.
#9 it's not genetic, even if you haven't experienced it once, you can still experience it.
#10 True, after waking up from Sleep Paralysis (you will feel very sleepy) you need to stand/sit up and don't go back to sleep yet, because, if you do, you will enter sleep paralysis again. some says you need to drink water to stop it, NO you don't. you just need to wake yourself up (like walking around the house.
why i disagree to some?
because i know how to experience it manually.

Been experiencing it a lot lately. The other night it happened while I was laying on my side. I'd feel a creature sitting on my hip and it started to growl. I was able to hear the growl thru my ear plugs. Sitting a dog this week and one night I'd feel something sitting next to me on the bed. It was leaning against me so I thought it was the dog but she's not allowed on the bed. So I woke up and the dog was sleeping in it's crate. Last night was crazy. I was on my side again and I felt someone crawl into bed and that someone started to hold me. It didn't feel frightening even tho that being was very close to me. With all my power I tried to say Who are you and it just whispered something back to me that I didn't understand. It sounded male and seemed angelic. In that moment I thought I died and that being came to guide me. I'm not religious.

Im 14 years old, and Ive had sleep paralysis twice. The first time was when I was 12-13 in 7th grade, and I saw a tall black figure in the corner above a chair in my living room. I couldnt move, breath, or yell and it was terrifying. The 2nd time was earlier this year maybe about a month or 2 ago. I could feel a huge hand gripping and pulling my hair and something whispering to me, I couldnt move or do anything, all I remember thinking is please go away please please no no no it was really scary. The weird thing is that both times it happened, I was sleeping in the same exact place where I normally dont sleep.

It used to happen to me as I was falling asleep and I would be terrified to go to sleep. There would be trolls or goblin-like people that would come to the side of my bed and try to drag me off. I would hear their little footsteps coming and wouldnt be able to move or scream. I always thought I was going to die, and then after what seemed like forever, I would be able to yell and grab my husband and just bawl my eyes out. I was taking Viibryd for depression at the time, and once I stopped taking it the sleep paralysis stopped too. Thank God!

Ive had this throughout my life. At first i use to oanic and be so scared. but then i started to get use to it and then i found ways of dealing with it and getting myself out of it. i never new it was actually called something until about a year ago until i seen a meme of of it. I once managed to actually sit up while going through it and after sitting up i had to throw all my body forward just to lift my head up because my neck has no strength to hold my head up and then i tried to kick whatever it was i thought was there

This is what might have happened to me today. I never experienced such thing so I'm still trying to process what happened to me. Prior to this happening, I woke up early in the morning to get up after hearing my mom calling my name twice, but she told me she didn't. I went back to sleep for one more hour, and suddenly felt pressure with tingling sensation all over my upper body, like my soul is being sucked out. It also felt like someone was above my pillow that I was hugging. What a strange experience.

I've had this about 7-8 times so far. And it's worse than any nightmare you could ever imagine. Not good.
It can happen in the afternoon nap when I'm really tired too.
For some reason I remember it clearly that I hallucinate that my back door isn't locked. And some demon or a monster is going to come in my room and kill me.
And I can't move or even blink my eyes. It's an awful feeling, indeed. But I was so glad to find out it's got a name and it's called Sleep Paralysis.

It happens to me and there is always a viscous animal trying to get to me and that makes a weird sound not a natural sound a viscous squeal and it usually happens around 2 or 3 am and when I am very stressed and sleep on my back but also when fully conscious and awake during those hours due to an outside factor dogs barking at 145 can't go right back to sleep wanna stay up watch a TV episode around 2 to 3 I always get really creeped out like there is a monster in the next room

I was really lucky that when I first experienced sleep paralysis I already knew quite some important things about it, from reading about it and because some family members also suffer from it. It was still very unpleasant because I was afraid of seeing horrible things (but luckily I had no visual hallucinations yet, but since I knew what was going on and that it's not dangerous helped me a lot. Now most episodes I find rather annoying than terrifying.

The whole demon thing to me? Is so silly, I have sleep paralysis cpl times a month, the only thing that happens is you can open your eyes, and see what's around you. Make sure your face is not covered by a blanket, breathe your way out of it, and wiggle your toes as much as you can, keep trying to move your body, then when you actually get out of it stand up for a minute to snap out of it and slowly fall back asleep ON YOUR SIDE.

Ive watched many things about sleep paralysis lately but for yrars i suffered and called them my evil dreams! It was a psychologist who explained to me i wasn't alone yet the evil feeling if something unwordly standing watching me then throwing myself out of bed sometimes hurting myself to get away is disturbing yet im not a believer in evil tho evil is what i feel? No-one speaks about the evil feeling? Am i alone?

I have experienced sleep paralysis twice many years ago.
I prefer to call it sleep-wake disassociation. Both times it was when I was exhausted. I was also sleeping flat on my back. The second time it happened I did sense some sort of demonic spirit behind me although I never saw anything. It was very frightening. Since then I make it a habit to only sleep on my side and it has never happened again.

I have something similar to sleep paralysis, my body goes into paralysis. But my eyes involuntarily close so no hallucinations. But then I feel waves of pain, and I know it's not muscle tension.
There was this one time I was trying to fight it and keep my eyes open. But my eyes eventually got droopy and I fell back on my pillow and it happened. I have no idea what it is.

I cant tell if Ive had it or not. I usually sleep on my side facing the wall.
So when I woke up in the middle of the night, all I heard was whispers like how tv shows portray it and then a deep voice slowly joined in being more noticeable than the rest before it became more clear that it was saying my full name.
I legit prayed to god out of fear and then they peaced out.

I had sleep paralysis last night, it was a man singing hellooo im hereee and then the figure climbed into my bed whispering its okayyyy, can you hear meeee, im hereee whilst I was hearing that there was a black figure of a hand waving in front of my face. I was trying to scream for my mum but I couldnt move or speak. I woke up sweating, its was the most frightening moment of my life

I experience sleep paralasis quite often. But to me its not that terrifying, what makes it very bad is that you cannot control your body and (to me) you experience a dream that is somehow linked to pushing down.
For example during my lunch nap, i dreamed about a plane crush and the feeling and going down and not being able to move matched with te dream in a very unrralistic way.

I've had one episode of sleep paralysis in my entire life. I thought i was being held down by a demon or something. I even may have been hallucinating but I opened my eyes and seen the infamous Hat Man along with a group of time wraith looking demons like the ones from The Flash tv series.
It was almost terrifying, but it was definitely scary.

reply

Mann its the worst! I avoid seeing horror movies or hearing scary stories, because its so easy to get sleep paralysis after seeing or hearing scary stories. The last scary movie Ive seen was Anabel when it first came out, but the paralysis never stop they come and go since I was 11 years old
reply

Before I knew that what I was experiencing was sleep paralysis, I used to explain it like that to other people.
1. I can't get out of my dreams although I'm conscious I'm dreaming.
2. It feels like my body is 200 kg and I don't have the energy to move it, and I'm fusing with my bed XD

Once i had sleep paralysis and i could open my eye. When i opened my eyes i saw something tall and skinny. it was just looking at me. When I looked at it in the eye, idk if it was trying to choke me or make me d1e. I havent had sleep paralysis since so. idek if ill have it soon or not.
reply

Does anyone else just have noise hallucinations and not visual? I sleep on my stomach with my face up against my wall. It's like something not human screaming right into your ear in an ungodly pitch that lasts for like 10 seconds along with the suffocating and unable to move.
reply

For those who are still scared upto now about sleep paralysis, I'll give you a tip, once you experienced it, dont force your self or youll just panic, first thing to do is to move your fingers first and trust me, the whole of your body will follow shortly, its just easy actually
reply

Ive been dealing with this condition since childhood, I am 35 years old and suffer from this. Yesterday I had an episode, it was devastating; you wake up tired and confused. I feel like, as I get older, the events are more violent to my mind and body.
