1. You dont suppress your emotions. Sometimes, I do, other times, I don't. I'm working on it.
2. You dont invalidate other peoples emotions. No, thankfully, I don't invalidate other people's emotions. I always acknowledge the reason for their specific emotion and console them accordingly.
3. You dont give into peer pressure. No, I don't give in to peer pressure. Peer pressure is a big NO in my book of rules.
4. You dont usually overthink things. Uh, I don't really know about that one but I'm working on it. I reckon I overthink present situations rather than past or future situations.
5. You dont have an issue with personal boundaries. Nope, not at all. If I feel even a slight bit that someone is being toxic, then hello and welcome, boundaries! Personal boundaries are another main rule in my book of rules.
6. You dont seek out external validation. No, I don't take people's suggestions of narrow-minded people about me.
7. You dont get frustrated over situations beyond your control. Mostly, I suppose yes. I've been working on it for quite a while now.
8. You dont avoid constructive criticism. No, I never avoid constructive criticism. If I know that someone is an open-minded and scrupulous person, then I'd always take their suggestion.
9. You dont avoid change. Uh, I don't really know about that one.

I would agree on every point except for the first one, first I would like to say that I got an EQ score of 165 and that is why I think I have something worth to consider to about the matter. Indeed people with high EQ dont really deny or suppress our feelings from ourself, we are honest to ourselves about what we feel, but that does not mean we will show it to other, neither does it mean we will act with our emotions as driving sources to action. Instead we show/act the emotions that are more suitable for the situation and for how we want the relationship with him/her/them to go. And for some people not showing emotions to others is seemed as holding back feelings which would make the first stating incorrect.
Either way if u read it all thx, and may you have a great day.

my mom had some sort of panic attack thing while she was sleeping and my brothers and dad told my mom, It's nothing and get over it it's all in your head, but i tried helping her figure out why she was feeling this way, and try to help her without lecturing her, and my brother told me off telling me she knows how to handle herself, stop, am I wrong for this? idk, I am 16 and my mom is 46 so. idk

A lot of this is related to maturity too. I say, don't feel bad if you don't relate to all the points, a lot of them take time and character-building experiences (with a good attitude) to develop. Actually be thankful that now you're aware of them and can work on them, bc a lot of people go through life without even considering these things. The first step to improving yourself is wanting to.

(This isnt a flex but) back in my pre-k/ kindergarten I would always see people such as friends or anyone else and it seems that they would never put themselves in front of anyone else, they would also say stuff like stop crying or crying is for babys and I honestly thought that it was natural, 9 years later I find this video and turns out Im emotionally mature.

I'm not emotionally intelligent I dont show emotion and I am usually the one that needs help but I'm good with not giving in to peer pressure. I overthink everything and I'm the worst person I know my triggers for my mental illness but I dont want my friends to think I'm weak or emotionally hurt because I dont like shoving people stressed. can someone help

I more emotionally intelligent than I thought. This is surprising for me since I lived most of my childhood as an introvert and thought I had no real emotions. Since then I've been going about trying to understand the ununderstandable for me. I now feel very deeply and personal on many things and feel comfortable helping others sort their emotions.

I think I'm in the part of process where I can recognize that I do some of these things but I'm working on learning what to do in place of it. Like I always try to offer solutions when someone is hurting. I want to help them solve it but I dont really know what to say, while sounding genuine. Idk it's a process

When I start to overthink things, it quickly gets out of control. I start thinking it over to the Nth degree. I'm working on it though. I'm starting to ask myself Is this really helping me? when I start getting carried away. Usually, it's about things I can't control or influence. Like, the past and the future.

Guess what? Emotional intelligence is just about as useful as algebra to the common world. Ill keep on trucking on with those repressed emotions like 95 percent of the population and still die happy. Thanks for the 6 minute time waste though. Always looking for useless things to fill my time with.

Except for the first two, I really need to build up my emotional intelligence.
Actually, seeing these videos makes me realize how I'm so flawed and I want to change this, although I'm not sure how to, where to start and don't feel like I can do this alone, on my own.

I have to build it up. I was always self aware of not having good emotional intelligence but never knew where to start as mean people will always try and hate you for whatever reason they can. This is an insightful video, thanks for sharing.

Lol i had to learn that first one the hard way
I wish more people were emotionally intelligent
Cause it's such a great state to be in when you're in control of how good or bad you feel about your day

i think EQ is the most difficult thing to learn and master, because its not something that can be taught but to be experienced throughout in our lives
