I'm 14 and basically feel like a complete failure even now. I do everything to avoid school, am a nerd in computers and am becoming lazier by the minute. I feel like I have no future. I also have the problem of staying up very late but I cant help it. Reason im here is I am a game developer and struggle extremely with motivation to do it, but a year ago it was mostly just regarding game dev, but now its spreading into every corner of my life. Probably the quarantine that destroyed me

One thing that I would do instead of checking my phone is turning on some music that would help me get up and going to start my day. However Ive had come to realize that I have a hard time working in silence. I need music in the background so I could focus more on my work as if I dont, Ill start having trouble keeping my minds own distracted racing thoughts from deterring me from my point of focus.

Things that also don't help: constantly berating yourself for being 'lazy'. Give yourself rest. Some days you need just 1 break. Sometimes you need 10. It's all good. Forgive yourself for needing extra breaks. It's so much better to just take the break than to constantly work while thinking about that break. Once you've had a few minutes to do something else, you're ready to get going again.

I don't even go on social media's like insta and snap often mostly I'm just checking if there's a video I can watch to see while I'm eating breakfast but I guess it's unhealthy seeing as I stay in my bed for a while trying to find an interesting video

I find the most helpful thing is to just start doing something. Don't worry so much about doing it for a set amount of time or getting a certain amount done. You can always look back and go at least I started then you find you want to continue.

I'm guilty if ignoring my family and friends while focusing completely on my studies
I still am not a student who get all A's and I've also ignored the people who love me
I've learned now that balance is everything

This just makes my anxious, depressed, low self-esteemed ass feel worse, because my brain parrots just call me lazy and useless for not being more motivated and being so scared all the time. :(

Point 8 just reminded me on how much I want a personal work area or a small work room for myself, away from my sisters' distractions.
And how much of that dream is impossible for now.
