How would you describe yourself? Would you even know where to start? Personality is complicated, fortunately, psychologists have come up with a way to assess five key factors of it. OCEAN is an acronym relating to a persons openness, conscientiousness, extroversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism, respectively. To better understand what OCEAN is and to see where you fall under each category, we will be exploring the five big personality factors and signs that you score high or low in each area. What do people like about you based on your personality type? Watch this to find out

I am about 99. 99% sure that, as of right now, I am an Ambivert. Some introvert things, I agree with completely. For others, I don't think I've ever really related to at all. It's the exact same thing for extrovert things. I don't like being the center of attention, and depending on the environment I'm in I could be talkative or relatively quiet (sometimes even in environments I'm talkative in, if I feel that people don't care about what I'm saying and can clearly tell they aren't listening, I may get quieter for a bit. I love going out to school, seeing my friends, and honestly wish I could spend more time with my friends outside of school. However, I also love being alone at the right times. I wouldn't say people drain me, but if I'm at school and around people I don't like, it'll drain my tolerance. While I can be talkative, I'm relatively reserved and get extremely uncomfortable when I have to answer more personal questions (like religion, culture, etc) rather than just stuff like test/quiz questions. If it's not an either kinda vague or school related question, I get very evasive and try to avoid it. Sometimes my Advanced Studies teacher (who is also my soccer coach and was my track coach last year) asks me religion and culture questions, and I force myself to answer for the sake of it being from an adult. If it's from another student, you most likely won't get a direct answer from me. Unrelated to my original ramble, but about openness, does anyone else often switch between concrete and abstract ideas? I think about facts, of course, we can't live without them, but I also often think about the future, the past, what could be, and what could've been.

Had to do this for personality psychology.
I have extremely high openness 93
I will try most things just because the opportunity presents itself.
Medium to high conscientiousnous 61 mostly because I have a schedule for everything I don't want to think about, like what to eat. But I am not a neat person.
Medium to high extraversion 62
I'm great with people, it doesn't drain me but I don't like dealing with people because it usually ends up with some problems I need to solve.
Extremely low agreeableness 1
I do and get whatever I want, whenever I want and however I want, if manipulating or hurting people will get it faster, I'll do it. And I don't change. It's one of the things some people like me for, I remind them of the past, I'm basically the same person I was when I was 4, just more dangerous. Plus since my goals are mostly just to make my friends happy, they don't mind being manipulated a little.
Low neuroticism 25
Well, I'm a psychopath so I don't exactly get anxiety or feel stress. But it's not super low because I am mostly angry at something all the time.
Some other scale put my neuroticism much higher I think, it's related to ocean but we didn't take that one since we already did ocean.

INFJ here.
I took the O. C. E. A. N. Personality test online. It stated that I was High in Openness, High in Conciensiousness, Mid in Extraversion, High in Agreeableness, and Mid in Neuroticism.
Interestingly enough, I took another personality test called HEXACO which was similar but a bit more explicit.
The results appeared to differ slightly compared to the previous.
With the HEXACO test, it stated that I was High in Honesty, Mid to High in Emotions, Mid to Low in Extraversion, Mid to High in Agreeableness, High in Conscientiousness, and High in Openness.
Found it it a bit interesting how the Agreeableness component differed to the results from the other test.
I think the reason why is because there was a subsection in the test that focused on Forgiveness which connected to Agreeableness. I scored Low on that section.
So it appears that Im not a very forgiving person. If Im pushed in anyway, I will either become passive aggressive, avoidant, or will hold a grudge.
(Edit: Need to work on that last one): P

Howdy Psych2go, I feel three letters of this acronym depends on if we have lived abused or not.
C(onscientousness): When I was living with my narcissist, I couldn't even think straight, because of all the trauma. Now that I've escaped I am low in C, before I was high in C.
A(greebleness): Basically being an empath vs having narcissist traits.
N(euroticism): Giving anyone who had been through trauma, they will have some of those traits. With healing, I am now low on Neuroticism.
I like the idea of this test, I just feel a lot of those personality factors are to be examined, since it depends if we are currently experiencing trauma or not. Adding my two cents. :)

To be honest. I'm confused. XD Everything is high up with me, except the neuroticism. But I more consider myself as an introvert. Lately I think I'm more an ambivert, because I have traits of an introvert, but I love to spend time with people I love, like family or friends. I get a enegergy boost with them. But in this video I was a bit confused, because the traits of an extrovert asign to me. XD The title immedeately catched my eye, because I love the ocean. Especially the more north oriented like from scottland and denmark. I was blown away that it really is a paychological term.
Thanks for reading and have a nice day!

Moderate Openess: I'm very creative, and my fundamental morals aren't really based on what people say, but I don't change them often or pick up new hobbies.
High Conscientiousness: I'm always very organized and goal-oriented.
No Extraversion: I enjoy socializing but only in moderation.
Moderate Agreeableness Not sure on this one but I'd like to say I'm pretty friendly and easy to get along with if I'm around the right people.
Low Neuroticism: I'm rarely stressed.

reply

Its clear youre pretty neutral about all the traits except low agreeableness.
Mostly because you dont know what agreeableness actually is; Contributing to the community is conscientiousness, and being bitter is neuroticism.
People with high agreeableness need to hear this; your inclination is not morally superior, in reality its so ineffectual in the face of something actually worth fighting for.

As far as Im aware as an IFNJ/ENFJ, Im basically low on every of the 5 acronym ocean traits. Although I dont tend to agree with how Low agreeable is described in some parts such as the rude & antisocial part. But overall, Im for the most part a laidback introverted person but this will likely change as time goes on for me.

Here's how I come out. ..
Openness - Medium at best, but working on it.
Conscientiousness - High, but with some flaws (AD/HD causes organization and executive-function problems, but I don't WANT to be like that)
Extraversion - NO.
Agreeableness - Medium, maybe higher: trying to work on it.
Neuroticism - WOW!

On the self assessment I took, with the input of family and friends, I have 48 out of 100 in openness, 78 out of 100 in conscientiousness, 34 out of 100 in extroversion, 38 out of 100 in agreeableness, and 89 out of 100 in neuroticism. So. I guess that tells a lot about my general personality
reply

The main reason I prefer Myers Briggs (after they added the turbulent vs assertive) is its biased to one side of the spectrum of each trait. It doesnt balance the pros and cons of each side, which may make people that have the unflavored side to feel inferior when they arent.
reply

Conscientiousness: I'm a little of both. Very organized, but don't see the point of goals. I tend to procrastinate, too. I don't see the point of planning for the future. I'm trying to focus on BEING and less on DOING because I know that that's where I'll find my answers.
reply

Neuroticism is hard to know. Sometimes if think that this type of quiz don't work how it could with me bcoz' I feel like I am narcissist or something like this, but it's not this that describe if I am or not. My humble is more about doubt myself
reply

Traits? Ocean? Personalities? Okey, i got what you talking about.
I feel like i am indeed is a storm, that probably approaching, possibly provoking, so-called black clouds what could be in isolation.

reply

I find this quite difficult bc I keep on thinking it depends on the situation and who it is. In all honesty Im not completely sure how I feel all the time so answering this sometimes confused me
reply

Depending on the day, I ebb and flow (no pun intended) between all 5, both the positive and negative aspects of each category in OCEAN. I needed some Vitamin Sea insight today! Thank you.
reply

Wow this is great. I miss my baseline self but I'm more empathetic now. Unfortunately I'm more disorganized and yet more neurotic. They don't match but that's the shipwreck that I'm in
reply

I think I'm low in all of these traits: < except the last one- can you do a video on how to improve please? but thanks for making this video I'll try my best to be better!
