I made a friend who suffers from anxiety I didn't know untill maybe a couple of meetings she kinda started talking about it but I've been in that boat of depression and anxiety for years so i let her know that I struggle with it also so I've kinda put myself into a way of communicating with her the way I may like to be and just offering those walks to quiet places or coffees or just to chill and text if talking is to difficult or they just don't want to be vocal even online gaming on a game of their choice so you can maybe work together and communicate and take your minds away for a little bit like a cool down period i believe time is an important thing and letting a person know that you are willing to spend that time with them is important to show they are important to you and worth every second and complementing a person is also a bit of a pic me up and being open and honest is so important so there is no confusion on what's going on which may lead to uncertainty if its missing chores around the house that's adding to the situation maybe point something you haven't realy felt up to doing just to show it's perfectly acceptable honestly I missed 2 days of washing not including the towels and pointed out the pile and said I haven't felt great so i just left it you don't have to be on a mad one every day do things at your pace and when you feel you have the mental and physical energy to get through it I can guarantee there's people out there that are so much like you and me and that's perfectly fine just try enjoy the time you have live at your pace because it's your time and you spend it the way you want to

Story: So today at school we were doing PE and we were playing softball. So while I was In line waiting to pitch. And all of a sudden I got super anxious that I just got out of line crying. I was standing somewhere else crying while my group was In line waiting to pitch. When the line was done my group went to the outer part were we try to catch the ball. Then a girl had to get picked up early so the teacher went to the classroom when the girl (student) to go get her stuff. When the teacher came back, she saw me crying so she came to me and said, Is everything okay? And I was crying so much I could not even talk. And then she said I will help you pitch next round. And I said, NO, IM GOING BACK TO THE CLASSROOM! also then I was running there. So then she put like a boy In charge. When she put the boy In charge the teacher was trying to catch up to me. I was outside the classroom with my head down crying even more. So then when the teacher found me she said, Is everything okay, want to talk about It? And I still could not talk. So she said, here lets go Inside the classroom. So we went In. So then I just went right to my desk. Then the teacher brought her chair over next to me and was calming me down. After like 3 minutes I finally told her. When I was done talking she said, Aww, Listen, Im here for you, can I please give you a hug? And I was like sure. So I got up and she got up. When we got up she gave me a big hug to make me feel better. And that helped very much: )

I'm starting to study to know how and what to do when my friend has an anxiety attack, I've known her for a while but I found out just this year that she has anxiety, we were at school and she was taking so long to get back from the bathroom so i went there to see if she was ok, she is crying and scratching herself I'm not her best friend, but she's very special to me, and her best friend is moving out this month, so I'm even more worried about her, because her bff is always with her when she's there is a crisis, they are very good friends!
My sister has anxiety but she reacts very differently so I don't know what to do exactly! I want the rest of the time we are together at school, I can console her during crises!
I am determined to do even more research on anxiety and how to help! I also have anxiety, but it's nothing compared to my friend or sister, my anxiety just makes me stressed and overeating, it's nothing compared to them!
I dont even have the courage to say that I have anxiety because, in my opinion, it is so little that it seems wrong to say that I have it being that when there are so many people who suffer a lot because of that, and i'm going to complain about getting stressed and eating!
I will not!

I really wish I had studied anxiety disorder more fully while dating my ex-girlfriend. Our relationship turned unhealthy but in hindsight I now know that some of her frustrating behavior was due to her anxiety-something she couldnt control. I kept asking her to calm down when she would freak out or explode over something most people would think is trivial or not a big deal. Looking back I was only adding fuel to the fire and it caused our fights to elevate to awful levels. After so many of those incidents there was just too much resentment built up and turbulence in our day-to-day communication that we finally had to call it quits. Its just sad because shes an amazing person with a big heart. I just didnt fully realize what she was going through.

My friend once was very upset about something its a deep problem and someone commented about the subject not knowing she has a problem with it so it all came to her (ptsd) she ran out and i ran behind her cuz i knew whats wrong with her she had a meltdown and everything and I honestly PANICKED I swear i did NOT know what to say so I started cursing that person like saying really mean things and all kinda bad words and to my surprise she actually started laughing (like that ugly laugh when youre crying) till she calmed down. Lmao I know that person didnt know what they did and didnt deserve all these things to be said about them but hey it kinda worked

Watching this on the 3rd day my girlfriend asked for some time alone, she's got neurological sleeping problems and anxiety is constantly a by-product of her getting too much sleep. We recently just go officially together. I love her very much, and as much as I want to be able to comfort her, be with her, help her, assure her that I'll be there for her no matter what, I can't at this moment and I'm just waiting for her to get back to me. I don't want to overstep boundaries and break my word that I'll patiently wait for her. At this point I'm just afraid of losing her. What do I do?

This is going to be a growth process and a challenge. Its hard when you are in a LTR and love someone, want a future with them and their anxiety is about whether or not they want to move forward. If they are just scared and anxious I can see loving support being paramount. But I wonder when that support begins to incentivize remaining stuck or on the fence at the cost of ignoring my own needs? Also when are they to miss us and see our value if our support is ever present and free?

This made me feel understood so well, the examples you gave of touching made my anxiety go up but then explaining how someone can help resolve this calmed me back down. I got into an fight with my girlfriend, because I was having an anxiety attack and she didnt know, and she tried to grab me and tried pulling me towards her and immediately jerked away. she got upset I pulled away from her, but I was freaking tf out and that triggered me. Im definitely sending her this video.

I'm about to start a relationship with someone who has anxiety and I want to make sure I can do my best to make sure she feels. Safe? Calm? Ok? I'm not sure what to call it. lol. I am genuinely happy to be starting a relationship with her. She's been quite a sweetheart. You see I'm on the spectrum aka have autism and she goes out her way to understand me, I want to do the same for her. Not sure where things are going to go, but I will give it my all.

For being there no matter what is happening, I'm stuck on balancing being there no matter what while also looking out for my own mental health. Is it a condition to be there until you need your own space? I feel the need to be there anytime for my friends and want to be supportive, but I've given too much and am trying to also make sure I don't expend myself, but does that mean I can't say I will be there for them anytime?

How do I help my dad understand that I suffer from anxiety attacks when I get into HUGE crowds? Every time I cry after a concert with a lot of people, My dad tells me that I'm being dramatic, and that I'm not having an anxiety attack. I've tried to explain to him that large crowds make me feel squished and compacted, and it makes my anxiety spike, but my dad doesn't listen when I tell him that I'm not faking it.

The thing with anxiety in my opinion is to have in mind to get rid of it gradually through facing it. These things may calming you down but you need some friends pushing you and make you a better person otherwise you get stuck feeling anxious for ever. Its very hard but its the sad truth and of course seeking help by a professional is very important

ugh i once dated a guy with anxiety and i didnt know at the time bc he wasnt the open about how he felt like that and i took it as he doesnt really like me or my body. i really miss him now regret not asking him why he didnt do certain things with me and trying to fix the problem instead of breaking it off which hurt both of us

I definitely have times where I just want someone to listen. I'm still trying to process things when I'm talking about a situation. Having someone throw their input frustrates me because I don't have the answers yet, and it feels like they're not trying to listen. It feels like they're just trying to get the conversation over with

A loved one of mine is having some anxiety about an upcoming procedure and it was brought to my attention that I wasn't showing up enough for them. I have some anxiety myself and am scared about the procedure too. I've been reflecting on how I can better show them I care and these are very helpful. Thank you!

Wow can I give you a hug, really this kind of thing is real?
I remember walking round my school for days, my father was working away so literally no talked to me for days on end, when someone actually said hi, I just burst into tears. (not a great look for a scruffy 13 year old boy, in front of most of the school)

Thanks for this video. I was born in a family where we dont talk about feelings and dont comfort each other and that's why i dont know how to comfort but thanks to this video for giving some advice. Now i can stop being a pathetic friend who cant do anything when they need a comfort.

I'm being anxious for 3 days now. My best friend told me I'm done comforting you. I don't know if I'm only asking for reassurance. I felt like am I going to be ignored? Am I too much? Is she tired of me? It's so complicated. I want to talk it out to her but then it's asking for comfort.

The last one is literally the best one. Sometimes you just need someone to care for you even if they dont know how. So them admitting that they want to help but dont know what to say can be so comforting. Just to know that they are willing to be uncomfortable for you means a lot.

Ngl, I went on a first date with a guy and he instantly hugged me, even wanting to kiss me. I straight up had a panic attack and escalated into an anxiety attack for about a week. Thankfully when I explained this to my date, he was very understanding towards my reactions.
