I grew up in mostly a noisy house, and I do not mean the happy noise all of the time. I have an elder brother (4 yrs older than me, since his secondary school parents began to yell at him and beat him for any bad occasion at school. his teachers used to tell our parents, that my brother didn't behave himself at school, so my parents decided to fix his bad behavior through beating him, not talking to him, asking what might be true about teachers talks. and I was right in the next room, separated from this horrifying mix of loud sounds and screams of my brother ( and sometimes my parents yelled at each other because of the problems only they knew. I was sitting there, as far from this as I could be, listening to this, shaking with all my body and just listening to this. all my thoughts were about being able to do something, to stop his, but I was so horrified I couldn't make a single movement. this came to an end only when my brother graduated from school, but my horror still lives.
and now, analyzing all this, I understand more of my own behavior and fight it. I used to do anything my parents wanted from me no matter of my own desires and wishes. I just didn't want to be beaten, didn't want to be hurt physically, so I let them hurt me emotionally. I ended up following the dream of my mother believing it was mine. I realized, that it wasn't, when I was on my 3rd year of university. this was my first fight for my dreams in 20 years. but my parents just didn't want to loosen their grip, so they made me enter another university on another faculty (they didn't care if I want it or not.
I'm 22 now and I am just starting to learn about myself, my issues, what I want and what to do. and I think I am ready to start yet another fight for my dreams and my own life

I was the middle child. Mum had no love for me. Dad was always out of town. Older sister was cruel. I was always trying to protect my younger brother, until I realized he didn''t need protecting. When out of the house, was ever so happy. Anxiety arose as soon as I entered the front door. Turned out my mother didn't like me because my head was large, and caused her pain when gave birth to me. It was a common refrain. Cleaned the house, did excellent in school. Skipped 2 grades. Still, was rarely spoken to, unless it was an insult. Felt ever so small (and WAS the shortest in the family) Kept having constant headaches. When I met my husband to be, he took me to a Dr. who informed us that I had a brain tumour, an that was what was causing my headaches all those years. Had surgery. It was benign. My mother told her friends I had pink eye. My husband and I left town. The anxiety still carries on. Anything that goes wrong, I still apologize for. But that's okay. I'm Canadian, so it's somewhat expected. LOL It is really true, your chilhood can affect your life. But so much happier now.

For my entire life, my coping mechanism for anxiety and depressive episodes has been escapism. Books, tv shows, films, music, games. anything that would allow me to be transported to a different world so I could momentarily forget about my reality. My family complains that I isolate myself, but I've tried to explain how I feel to them and the response has been oh, that's normal, everyone feels that way. My experience with therapists has also not been great, but I won't delve into that. I've just given up on trying to get my family to understand me and try to get through things by myself. Maybe it's hyper-independence, but when you're constantly invalidated, you tend to internalize that shit. The only people I feel I can turn to are my friends, and even then sometimes I'm met with the well, it could be worse or the that happens, you just gotta keep pushing types of answers, and while I understand they're well-meaning, they just cause me to immediately put up my defences again. Sorry for ranting, but the comment sections on your videos feel safe.

Just a few days ago I started to notice that whenever my partner and I even have an small disagree, I get so nervous I feel it in my stomach and I get the severe cold shakes.
I am trying to figure out why my body reacts the way it does. What could be behind it. Is it really that normal to have such a strong reaction? And only with her. Is it possibly something else? I don't really regard myself as an anxious person and I am very comfortable being alone (I have an insecure avoident attachment style, Psy2Go taught me.
I have never been afraid of conflicts either, always faced them head on and wanted to deal with them as soon as possible. This is why my reaction really confuses me, especially the severity of it. I would just like to try and find out possible answers but I don't really know where to start.
I was wondering if maybe someone on here had any ideas and could put in their two cents?
I hope everyone has a good day/night/time!

I might have grown with anxiety, and here's why I think that: When I was in primary school, every evening I couldn't eat because I had some sort of nausea, like everytime. The strange thing is that it was happening only the evening, for example I didn't have that problem when I was eating at lunch, almost as my problem was to eat at home. I think it went on for months, and after some time my parents drove me to the hospital to figure out what was wrong. The doctors told that it was something with my stomach, that didn't really matter. I only had to not eat to much sugar. But I remember that right after going to the hospital, I didn't have that problem anymore, as if being told that it was normal made the thing go away magically.
The same thing happens also now, when I have simptoms of anxiety, just being told that it's normal makes everything go away for a moment. I am now doubting that I wasn't really sick but just anxious.

Oh man I should've known this before. When I was a kid (around elementary school, I had problems with bullying and soon started to loose interest in all activities children my age did. I felt like I didn't belong anywhere, because of my age and overall, my physical appearance.
Thus I developed an overly defensive posture towards everyone, I insulted them over nothing, made fun of them and stuff like that- This behavior lasted until middle school.
Worst part is, that made it hard for me to make friends later on. I felt I didn't deserve them for I was overly aggressive with my classmates and friends, not even mentioning jealous.
During the pandemic I entered High School and took the iniciative to talk to a psychologist, because I was presenting signs of depression. I was diagnosed with both Anxiety and Depression, but only worked on the second. Now Anxiety sorta took over me again, I see it now hahah

Family can be very functional and in accord. The sources are in environment. Peer violence and constant exposure to toxic peer environment, without any possibility to move away from it is one of the big causes of anxiety. Further, this is often followed by not-understanding by parental and teachers' population. Attitude You made that up (again, You're making drama out of nothing. Turning the head away and closing the eyes besides obvious problem. Non-ability to recognize the on-going issue. Victims usually hardly report the problems. Evading (from parental or teacher side) of confrontation with problematic pupils and their parents. Too mild reaction from the system. It is often the case that these problems are often being partially solved and prevented by reactions of cleaning ladies or janitors.

I grew up in a hellish environment. I have several brothers and we all suffered to a certain extent. However, being the only girl just seemed to heighten my mother's wrath. Some of us were abused and beaten, but I always seemed to bear the brunt of it all. I grew up in chronic fight or flight mode. I also had legitimate health problems that were exacerbated by all forms of assault. After many similar relationships and one dysfunctional marriage I make very sure I keep to myself. I've devoted my entire life to psychotherapy and dealing with my health issues. I don't mind being alone - it certainly has its advantages over being chronically ill and constantly in the crosshairs of one damaged transgressor or another.

i'm 99% certain i have anxiety. i'm going to look into going to a psychologist and getting a diagnosis, because i don't get listened to at home. whenever i say anything about anxiety, i hear you're not anxious, you're just very sensitive and care about things too much. it's so frustrating. especially now that i'm an adult and my physical symptoms are getting worse. i can literally lose 3 kg over the span of a week because my stomach locks up and i can't eat in periods of high stress. and i'm already underweight as is. so it's very frustrating.

I don't know if it is normal, but I feel guilty when I don't study. I am an A student, but when I don't study (even if I don't have anything that I need to study for) I feel guilty. I got out to play badminton some days ago, and when I got home, I just felt guilty. I know this is embarasing, but I can't sleep without my mom being near. If my mom/dad aren't home I can't sleep. Once I was on vacation with a cousin, but my parents couldn't go. I couldn't sleep the first night. Maybe because it was my first real vacation.

I have no idea how it feels to be without anxiety. I have GAD and mild depression. I believed it started when I was a child my mom would rant on the phone about how my dad didn't pay the bills and her loud voice would wake me on my off days. It was a terrible way to wake up. My parents had a hard marriage. I'm an adult and I wake up tense. I've been helping myself cope with the help of a therapist. I do deep breathing, avoid triggers, socialize, pray, eat healthy, journal, and take herbs.

suffer through anxiety my entire life. I have a mother thats narcissistic and expected perfect kids, a father that is short tempered/alcoholic, who would yell, throw things around the house or spank me violently. School wasnt good either, none of the adults didnt care I was upset or scared. They just saw me as a problem child. I threw a lot of tantrums as a kid, they only locked me up in rooms and emotionally abuse me. Im a recovering alcoholic, but I dont trust anybody anymore.

Um not to self-diagnose but this honestly describes how I act as a young kid. I had to bring stuff toys around or else I'd feel an overwhelming fear of being alone with nothing. I did have parents who are quite. narcissist and controlling. Helicopter parents is what they're called I think. I go to field trips only if I have a friend with me, and I worry about so much things at such a young age. I think I might have anxiety.

I underwent a breakdown in 2006 and was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I suffer from panic attacks on a regular basis, and used to get them in bed before going to work, waking in middle of the night with my heart racing and cold sweats that got so bad, my bedclothes were soaked. Any unexpected visits from management would also set off an attack, with classic anxiety symptoms, coupled with paranoia.

I was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and also depression by a therapist a couple years ago. This video 100% describes my experience. Except, I dont really feel attached to my home or to a person, but rather I feel like I need to get away from busy places/environments and a home/specific person can provide me relief from the feelings I get in those situations.

When I was in elementary school I wpuld often go to the infirmary because of my belly ache. Every day when going to school I would feel weird kind of pain in my stomach and be nauseous. Turns out it was anxiety. Put two and two together few years later. I wonder if the nurse would be surprised to know I really felt pain that often and wasn't just acting to skip classes

Add being doused in spittle by a group of cousins & their friends at 3 years of age. Constant daily bullying in school, constant foul treatment and defilement by coworkers in every single job ever held, fear of anyone new, fear of authoritarianism in all situations, diarrhoea/vomiting in mornings just for the very fear of how the day can play out, crushing fatigue.

I've had anxiety since I was really little (I'm 20 now) I didn't get treatment for it until recently because I thought it was normal to worry, until it got very excessive. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder but I'm taking medicine for it now and am doing better

After living not knowing why I was, am so anxious, long story short it ruined my marriage, relationships. Living a life of being the best actor catches up with you. Sharing seems to come back and bite you; even with the person you thought would always be there.

And then there are those adults who deliberately induce anxiety in their children: ( Just so they can make sure you get a taste of the misery they faced in their younger years, except that this is deliberate. Makes it all the more sadistic and calculating

I knew I was relatively anxious and had family issues and such, but this is just over the top, I feel so called out. How does one even manage to relate to every single one? Im so very annoyed at this now, more so myself, but its whatever.

I always feel tired all the time, everyday. Even if I sleep enough hours, I'm tired. I'm always yawning. It's very uncomfortable. My partner makes jokes about about being a sleepy head. And it hurts me more than it should be because I can't handle it.
