Every setback contains the potential for growth & transformation; we can use our obstacles as vehicles to propel us forward. -The Obstacle is the Way by Ryan Holiday. Lead from the front. The soldiers erupted in a deafening chorus of cheers & applause; moved by their leader's selfless gesture. For Alexander, there was no separation between him & his men. He wd endure the same hardships & suffer alongside them; united in their pursuit of victory. Without the unwavering support of his loyal soldiers, he recognized that his success wd have been impossible to achieve. As a result, he made every effort to cultivate a strong connection with them. In battles, he boldly put himself in harm's way; reminding his troops that they weren't alone. He created a sacred bond that fostered unbeatable teamwork; he & his soldiers moved as a cohesive unit. Under the moon's gentle glow, Olympias wd soothe her child to sleep with prophetic whispers of his magnificent fate. She claimed her son was conceived by Zeus; when a lightning bolt struck her belly. He refused to accept any task as impossible; even when those around him had already given up. This unwavering confidence allowed him to focus on solutions. When faced with overwhelming odds; such as being outnumbered 6 to 1 at the battle of Issus, he remained undaunted & found a way to emerge victorious. He had an unshakeable belief in his own abilities that allowed him to find a way out of even the most dire situations. Instilled in him by his mother, this deep-seated confidence was further bolstered by his supposed divine lineage. He was after all, the offspring of a god. Free from the shackles of self-doubt, Alexander was able to act with unwavering courage and followed his instincts with complete conviction. -Alexander the Great's Unbeatable Mindset, RedFrost Motivation

I have recently experienced unrequited love, but I still fairly enjoy things as I used to, but they feel less enjoyable than before. I have started to decrease my time with friends because I feel like Im my emotions just makes me a burden to them (also because theyre said that its a bit annoying when I go on about how bad Im feeling, but I still see them sometimes, like when I go to movies. Ive cried every day since the sad event happened (a month tomorrow, at least once a day, and I very often cry myself to sleep, but I dont have too big sleep broblems. I only lose, like, one hour of sleep because of my emotions. I have low self-esteem and feel surrounded by guilt and other bad thoughts when Im alone, get time to think for myself or when something reminds me of the event, but I can mostly be happy throughout the day when around others (although it may be because they distract me. I can do my daily duties, but I still feel really low energy, no matter how much sleep I get, and I feel hopeless, when someone gives me a compliment I never take it seriously, since I dont think I deserve it, I feel like no one loves me and that no one ever will love me for who I am, especially not romantically, I blame myself for what happened whenever I get the chance, Ive had a few quick suicidal thoughts or thoughts that question the meaning of living or how many would actually miss me if I stopped existing.
I dont know if its depression or sadness, but I feel like, if its sadness, I am less important to help and less worthy of it. It kind of feels like I wont be taken seriously by myself or others.
Also, I have autism and I dont know if that has something to do with it (it probably hasnt.
Please give me some sort of clarity to what Im experiencing right now.

the signs you have sadness not depression are other than signs you have sadness not TEENAGER depression right? I mean I'm too tired and exhausted to do my passions (making games that I loved doing 3-4 months ago until the middle of January 2023 that I had first symptoms I didn't even realise, I have trouble sleeping/going out of bed, emotions are hesitating and after a good cry I don't feel lighter (tears from today's sadness from 8 hours ago are still coming out, feeling of numbness, physical pain, suicidal urge (or feeling of being already dead lol, but social interactions are not cut for me. And I'm 12. And since January I have passed a lot of bullying in school, quarrels with a friend and frequent separations (my only friend who was in my school and was playing Minecraft with me a lot, rage from my parents, a lot more frequent criticism in my house / with my friend, medication change (from Rispolept to Medikinet, my parents not believing I have ADHD, finally I was diagnosed and started taking Medikinet but they are still not believing something (except autism) is wrong with me. And a lot more (i. e. me freaking out of having depersonalization and derealization for the first and last time (at least for now, it was 4 days ago Idk what's in the future.

I don't really agree with this video for once. Like I've been diagnosed with depression and emotional instability disorder or moreso Borderline. Sometimes I manage simpel things and another time I can't even get out of bed, cancel plans randomly. Also to me it takes a lot to actually shut down others. I've learned to appreciate the company even more now that others usually take their backs on me. Maybe its because of borderline but I don't want anyone to abandon me and I feel like telling people whats up with me and not leaving them wondering and worrying. To me its normal and necessary and I feel even more bad if I stop talking to loved ones.
Maybe it bites itself a bit because borderline is probably stronger within me than depression but perhaps its more like high functioning depression by now. Who knows. Thanks for reading.

I was diagnosed with clinical depression over 30 years ago, and have spent every day since then attempting to become more normal because it's uncomfortable to exist in a depressed state. Often I choose not to acknowledge my depressive moods for exactly that reason. As a result, it seems I've unlearned how to recognize signs of depression; all of these seem to apply to me, though I KNOW my diagnosis and the reasons for it, and I KNOW everything I'm continually doing to keep myself healthy despite it. Having conquered depression is not a signal that it's gone, just like not using heroin is not a signal that one is no longer addicted.

I currently have a bad time. I feel sad or even emotionally numb for no reason. And I also think too much, but not in my artistic way of thinking too much. I think about things I don't want to share with, esspecially with people I don't know. I'll just say it's not very happy things. However I still can feel happy, laugh and smile honestly. I have enough energy to do my tasks and things I love, and I enjoy them. That is why I knew I'm ONLY feeling down. But still, thank for this video. It calmed me even though I knew It's just sadness.

I get an overwhelming feeling of like sadness id say? Like it feels like your chest is heavy and I cant like feel. I feel empty in a way and I usually think about suicide and sh when I feel this way and Id have breakdowns at random points aswell.
Lately Ive been thinking I might have depression, but something is still making me feel like I dont have depression.
Do you think I should talk to someone about it and see if I should get in touch with someone who can get me a diagnosis?

I've just had an apostrophe. Or possibly even an epiphany.
If I was only supposed to be on these pills for five years and I still feel sad now and then and every time I get low on them I feel all groggy and dopesick, are they really helping?
How do I know I'm not basically some pharmaceutical cash cow? What if how I feel is just how it feels being human?
I don't want to be reliant on these little white guys anymore. I just want to live a normal life.

Just keep enabling em with your self limiting words. You keep supporting that there's a psychiatric disease for your medical field to have jobs and money flow. Depression is a filtering issue and I am no longer depressed without conventional treatment so the longer you are enabled or enabling the more you can expect of the same. We're all different but our bodies work very much the same. If it's possible for one the only reason you can't is bc you won't

I do all of these except for the last one. I dont open up. Its not because Im depressed its that Im afraid people will take it the wrong way and Im the guy who wants to be the alpha male. I dont want anyone holding my hand or babysitting me unless I really need it which is never. I think this sadness stems from my many unsuccessful attempts at starting a romantic relationship

I am a very positive and productive person but spend lots of time laying in the dark recovering. I look at people who have great outlooks and wonder if they had good parents or good siblings instead of the ones I had who, if I let them, would drag me to the ground if they could.
I am thankful for everything I have, even them.

Is there something that's in the middle? Sometimes I can still be happy but then I remember damn I need to go to school I don't have self esteem, gave up on that, bullieing for half my life relay fks with you. It comes again like every 5 days if there are holidays, but if not it comes again nearly everyday.
reply

I'm only taking care of myself and doing my daily task because I just don't have any other choice but in reality, I just don't wanna do it. I wanna be in my own little happy place no people can understand forever. This contradicts your video about Signs you're secretly depressed
reply

i actully dont know if i am depressed but i hide to keep overs happy but someone walked up to me today and said that my smile was fake. they could tell because my eyes are empty and sorta light. but is being upset and hopeless for two years sadness or depression?
reply

I kind of live with my parents home (bc I'm a teenager) and I don't want to talk to them most days but I can't really avoid them. So I just stay in my room. Oh, I do rant to a friend, my only friend, and I do it for hours: I look in a mirror and talk to myself

Food For Thought: Thats the thing about depression: A human being can survive almost anything, as long as he/she sees the end in sight. But depression is so insidious, and it compounds daily, that its impossible to ever see the end.
reply

As others said this isn't really a good video and it invalidates many experiences of depression. I'd say the only somewhat agreeable thing here is the stuff about depression being longer but even that's not 100% accurate.
reply

I always thought I am depressed when I am sad, but this shows that not always I was actually depressed. Now you should make an episode about how to deal with sadness if it lasts for too long. x3
reply

People who have never dealt with depression think its just being sad or being in a bad mood. Thats not what depression is for me; its falling into a state of grayness and numbness. Dan Reynolds
