Borderline Personality Disorder vs Bipolar Disorder How to tell the difference

Borderline Personality Disorder vs Bipolar Disorder How to tell the difference

FBTwitterReddit

video description

Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Nearly two-thirds of individuals with bipolar disorder have been misdiagnosed at some point in their lives, and they visit nearly four physicians on average before receiving a definitive bipolar diagnosis. Perhaps the most troubling feature is the length of time it takes for a person to receive a bipolar diagnosis and appropriate treatment. It takes an average of 10 years from the time a person experiences their first bipolar mood episode until they receive bipolar disorder treatment. This treatment gap is the result of widespread misunderstandings about bipolar disorder and how it shows in episodes, as well as a general aversion to discussing a persistent psychological disorder, especially when symptoms are present in a young person. This is my Bipolar video for today. Remember in on of my previous video I mentioned I was also diagnosed with BPD ant the same time I was diagnosed Bipolar 1. I also said that this was going to be another video. When I was diagnosed I was 302 involuntary hospitalization in the mental hospital. My stay there was 10 days sedated right out of the gate. After the 10 which is all the insurances cover then they kick you out of the hospital. Well, the Dr put me and my terrified family in the same room with me ask asked them if I was ready to come home. Well, they sent me home. Hurt the family dynamic So what happened. I went back to the hospital on my to for treatment of extreme anxiety. I worked so hard to achieve years prior. Mind you I never seen the psychiatrist face to face, and they put me on the youth floor. With teenagers or upper twenties. I was told he was evaluating my behaviors from afar. What happened to the assessment at least that Im aware of. ! I never had one. Howd they come up with these diagnoses? Mind you in 2008 I sought out the help of a psychologist named Wendy. for my anxiety. When I first started going manic, she was called but no one took her or her notes into consideration. Why did I even bother going there for almost a year. I still and have used her cognitive behavior techniques for thee last 15 years. Thats why I was against any kind of therapy. In the 15 years I went to therapy a few times. But they didnt understand me. Now with educating myself on BPD all the pieces fit. I have nothing to hide. If the drs and hospitals and therapist kept good notes this should be in my medical records that how I found out I was diagnosed BPD no one told me! On a good note Im stable for 3 years this May. I worked hard to achieve this. Im in therapy again. Bottom line if someone anyone would have treated the BPD with therapy and anxiety med I wouldnt have been on this 15 year bipolar Rollercoaster. Thank you for letting me vent Much love sent!

My ex had bipolar disorder and it was very toxic yet I was blind, manipulated and afraid. I remember if I leave him, he will share my intimate photos to the public and my family, it took many years to fight the fear. After I left him, he did share my intimate photos to the public. After he did that and my anxiety disorder calmed down, I told myself So what? People will forget and i need to remember that this is my consequences for not listening and sharing my intimate photos. I remember he even told me that the police won't do anything and just laugh it off, when I told my mom she asked her friend who works for the police what can we do( she lived in another city and it was 4am) She told us to report to police and we did that, my mom helped and supported me the whole way and I'm thankful for that. My close friend that I've known since 2010 also comforted me and shockingly was the first person to warn me about my ex. Btw I was with my ex from 2016- 2022. I still have that mix my ex feeling but I remind myself of what will happen if I go back and I worked up the bravery to leave him. Week after I broke up, I found out he was cheating on me with 7 other girls! I'm grateful I worked up the courage to leave my ex. Now I am able to be myself (my ex was controlive that I couldn't even do simple make up) months later my close friend asked me out, he gets along with my family and friends, he's bit shy but my friends and family trust him. He's been having a crush on me for a while but didn't have the courage to ask me out. I'm grateful I'm with him that I can be myself and do the things I like, we even have many similarities and work great as a team in video games
Conclusion: if you're going to be with someone that's bipolar try to get them to know first and very well, not all bipolar people are like My ex. He had the Manic Bipolar

I recently got diagnosed with BPD. Me and my family believe that it was a misdiagnosis due to the long history of Bipolar such as my mother and grandmother having it and my sister having it. Me and two of my therapists believe the reason I was diagnosed with BPD is because of the possibility of me having an identity disorder due to lack of memories and switches between how I act and think. For example I'm not religious but I bought a cross necklace, I have no memory of making 2 bags of spaghetti or don't recall yelling at a friend though many people witnessed it. I don't claim and identity disorder because it's not my place to do so yet Along with my family I believe I've been misdiagnosed with BPD due to me having more similarities in how things are in description. The lady I went to based a lot of her Intel on the items described by me and not having looked closely as to some prior diagnosis' such as Autism, ADHD and anxiety. Those three are what we believe to attribute to the situational switches associated with BPD. I have long been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety and went to a professional who works with autism to get diagnosed with that. When I'm in my funks as we call it my sleeping is definitely altered. This is just my personal experience and I thought I'd share it, I might make an update if and when I get a reevaluation done by another medical professional just to see if what I believe to be true really does align with a different professional opinion.

i have been though many therpists and websites and more and not one has understood why i am the way i am until i was scrolling through tiktok and it comes up whats bpd like for me and i am a person who is obsessed with disoders and metal health diagnosis so i was straight away intrested as i was listening to this person talk about what it is like for her i suddently realised that maybe just maybe this may be me and i have been serching on end of what this disoder is and it honestly sounds like im reading an infrographic about myself so i have brourght it up with my new concoulior how was quiet amazed on how much information i know on bpd and has desided to look into it and it turns out that they are veryy sure of it too what really stood out to me that is the worst thing i go though is most defiently relationships i do this thing were if you dry text me i instantly think you hate me and i will constantly need reasurance and randomly i will push everyone away as im so scared they will leave me so i leave them first even after a small conflict i think they hate and never want to speak to me again. mood my mood is like a rollercoaster it all depends on how someone treats me and if they treat me bad im insantly suisidal but if something good happens i am no longer depressed. but something that really is throwing me off is that my family has a history of manic depression im not exactly sure what that is but im sure as anything i would have it.

My new psychiatrist diagnosed me with borderline personality and I was very relieved to hear a name for what I feel. I am hypersensitive and have always had extremely intense emotions more than anyone I know. I freak out really bad over anything that goes wrong. Like the smallest thing causes me to have an emotional breakdown. I told my counselor and good friend what I was diagnosed with and they both say there is no way you have that. But my mom and boyfriend think I am borderline. I truly think I do bc I have almost all the things that go along with borderline. It really pisses me off that some people tell me I have it and others say I don't. so now I'm confused and don't know who is right and what is wrong with me.

I was first diagnosed with bipolar then diagnosed with BPD as well. So I have both and I wondered for a long time if thats possible? I can relate to both and its really difficult to manage even with medication, therapy and a lot of self help and work. In the beginning, I couldnt tell the difference, theres a lot of different emotions, impulses and I really wanted to control my them. But the more I understand both bipolar and BPD and the more Im aware of my emotions, the easier it became, especially if I know my triggers and traumas. But at times, it can all still get overwhelming and I still spiral out. I guess baby steps and small wins. So thank you for this video: )

I recently got diagnosed with EDD, And I've seen some people call it BPD, but when wanting to know more about it, it doesn't sound like BPD, are they the same thing tho? When I search EDD it says Lacking the ability to feel, understand and resonate with another's feelings is categorised by empathy deficit disorder (EDD. This results in difficulty forming and maintaining relationships for both the individual who lacks empathy and potential friends and loved ones, which sounds right, but I saw a site that said EDD is also called BPD, but what u said sounds quite different than that, did the site mix it up or?

Ive been diagnosed with BPD for 6 years. I got a new therapist last year and she thinks I have bipolar 2. I also have MDD. She wants me to get re-evaluated. My moods are very unstable ie crying one minute, to angry and extremely irritable, to being okay. Back and forth multiple times in a day sometimes. My biggest symptoms are the chronic emptiness, crying a lot, and not having a stable sense of self or knowing my purpose. I also have a bad pretty bad case of derealization/depersonalization. Its been a struggle and feel very alone. Ive also felt confused since Im unsure what is really wrong with me

for the longest time I thought i had BPD, but watching this i'm starting to consider bipolar? is it worth getting a diagnosis? whatever it is affects my day to day life but i recently started antidepressants which feel like they've dulled a lot of the symptoms i was feeling, like severe mood swings (going from wanting to study and apply to uni and get my life together, to wanting to die and feeling hopeless for any kind of future in the space of a few minutes. I'm scared if i try get a diagnosis they won't think its anything because my medication is altering how i act and feel

I feel that I have both of these. I randomly felt depressed for about a week, maybe more. This made me feel like killing myself, but i try my best to control it when this happens. After that ended, I helped my dad with his work. I was yelled at (he is stressed out about his work because there is a lot to do; he has no employees, which made me hate myself and feel useless. This happened one or two weeks ago as I turned 20 years old. Perfect present. The aftershock of these events is still ongoing, but they are dying down.

It took me jumping into a river middle of the night alone in mid spring and then waiting for 6 hours to get out and breaking into someones back yard, wondering around (soaking wet and half naked) for another 6 hours and then at 12 crashing a wedding and ruining it TO GET ANY HELP. Now I have the diagnosis of Bipolar type 1 and borderline. this wasn't my first bad episode either I had been having them my whole life, this one just broke a lot of laws. point is, it takes for ever to get any help with either of these

Friendly suggestion to the creator from a grateful viewer, I would suggest to speak a little louder but pull the microphone further away from your mouth. The P's, S's, T's were quite loud and some of the other parts of the words were soft which made it challenging to concentrate. I am bi polar and struggle with sensory problems, my biggest one is sounds. I feel this suggestion would make it easier to listen and concentrate on the content: ) hope this helps!

I dont know what I have or what's wrong with me. I constantly tell my family I cant keep living like this not knowing why I am the way I am. I have something. And I need medication for that something. But no one wants to listen to me. I'm supposed to see a doctor soon maybe that can get somewhere I hope.

My psychiatrist at the hospital diagnosed me with BPD but now my outpatient psychiatrist diagnosed me with Bioplar 2 and he said he doesn't think I have BPD. Now I'm so confused because I really think I have BPD and don't think I have Bipolar 2. They are both great psychiatrists so idk who to believe.

Ive had so many people ask if I was bipolar- but listening to this video, I realize that I align with BPD nearly perfectly. Am I able to get a diagnosis as a 16 year old? I dont know what to do about this, but its affecting my mental health and I just want to feel normal.

I was originally diagnosed with bipolar disorder, but after reading up on BPD and telling my therapist that I identified with EVERY BPD symptom (except anger outbursts because I internalise my emotions, I was diagnosed with BPD, particularly quiet BPD.
