When you think of a gifted person, you think of someone who is more intelligent, more capable or more talented. There are many types of gifted people, with characteristics like

I commented about this on a previous video on giftedness but I find this disappointing again. Most of the things talked about here are very common even outside of giftedness and do not necessarily correlate to that. Left handedness isn't a sign of giftedness, as not all gifted people are necessarily lefties, nor are all lefties gifted (and I say that as a left-handed gifted person. Something like asynchronous development however is a characteristic exclusive to how gifted brains work, and even if you aren't gifted presenting that can still be a sign of other form of neurodivergency, as it is not typical. But this isn't a video about giftedness, this is a feel good video made for any random person to easily relate to at least one of the points. You should at the very least refrain from using a word that has a very specific meaning in psychology to talk about something that actually distracts from that true meaning.
And to the comments saying everybody is gifted in their own way:
Yes, everyone has a gift of their own and something that their brains will succeed at as much as they will enjoy it. But that is not at all the same as being gifted. Giftedness is a form of neurodivergency. Saying everyone is gifted is not too different to saying that everyone is autistic; the gifted brain is straight up wired differently, and having people say that everyone thinks like that feels like having your experience and struggles completely erased and disregarded.

The language limitation is familiar to me, though I don't think I've ever quite understood it. Thank you for explaining it in a sensible fashion. After the brain trauma, my patterns shifted and I'm sure that I lost cognitive function, though my brain compensated in ways that meant my intellect didn't really start to decline until the last 2 or 3 years--with so much going on in the world, there could be multiple explanations for that decline, and I'm sure the pandemic isn't the only reason.

With me, I was born left-handed but forced right- handed because my dad's mother swore that left-handed people were spawns of Satan. Yes, I do get episodes where my brain can't keep up with my mouth & get tongue-tied. As of thinking outside of the box, with me is give the box to the nearest cat & do what works for you. You may not be able to explain it, but that's ok. if it works, why question it?
This was one of the contributing factors that proves I am an Empath.

Psych2Go: I find your videos are quite interesting and entertaining, just enough technical detail without overwhelming someone that has zero background in psych. ETA: You are correct about the left-handedness and the brain, I have 2 left-handed sons, and each of them are more mentally acute than I am, even when I was a young adult.

I'm diagnosed as gifted, and although the first 2 weren't true (I'm not a native English speaker and I'm right-handed for exemple, I fully related to the 3 others! My memory often impress others, I have the worst immune system possible (being sick every 2 weeks is not pleasant at all, and have big mood swings all the time.

ive been i gifted schools my whole life and like i was always told i was smarter and that i was gifted and i wish they didnt tell the children, it sets this expectation that you now HAVE to be smarter than everyone else and suddenly average feels like your failing and if your not perfect your doing something wrong

In the beginning you had mentioned that most would be stronger in a contrasting ability than that of the ability in language. Differing from the idea that my so called gift could quite be my competence in the English language.
reply

Strangely enough I had the strong memory from the childhood I had, that and I was shocked that It counted as a secret gift I never saw which explains why I had lady luck for when she helped me at tight situations

reply

Always hated English classes in school, but I enjoy writing and supposedly have a slur, but I don't hear it
Left handed and an overeffective immune system

reply

Left handedness is linked to right brain and both these are associated with creativity traits, so Im not convinced its necessarily its a sign of being gifted.

Most of the 5 signs apply to me. When I was a little kid, everyone around said that I was very smart and had a big vocabulary for my age.
