I have a father who is narcissist. And I have been his victim since I grew up but its getting worse for each year. He is only taking it out on me and my daughter. My sister is feeding him with telling him how great he is and how perfect he is and the same does his partner. After many years of this I have lost my self and I am tired of life. he ruins every Christmas and all my birthdays and has done so since my mother died. He just says hurtful things and screams nasty things at me and makes me doubt myself and feel worthless everyday. at Christmas he does everything to get all the attention and my birthday every year. His partner is making arrangements so that everything will be nice for both Christmas and birthdays and he ruins it by getting drunk before the rest of us arrive. And then he does everything to get all the attention and when we have to open our presents he happily sits down to sing and doesn't even bother opening presents. It ends up every year on both birthdays and Christmas that I go home very early and the others stay behind and feed him with kind words to get peace in the house. But that only makes things worse for me who is his victim. Yesterday, my sister had cooked for everyone and then he was completely out of balance and clicked, shouted at me because I had said that a new Italian pizzeria opened on Friday. What I said a few days ago was that they open the cafe on Friday and the pizzeria on Saturday. He screamed at me that I was lying because I had said there was pizza there on Friday. He became furious and then my sister said that she was the one who thought it opened on Friday. But it didn't help, he continued to scream at me and only because of a pizzeria. I can't take it anymore as I am completely devastated by being treated like that for so many years and have completely lost myself. Thanx for this video.

I wish I found your video sooner. Unfortunately, I had to learn it the hard way, even while watching it was so relatable that I started tearing up a bit. We were in the middle of the lockdown, I was working my hide off to pay for my bills, plus in a foreigner country. My roommate is the cousin of my sister-in-law, it started well enough, but every step stated in the video happened to me, after a while She started implying I was a horrible person and I kept denying feeling guilty and being more and more available to her, even when I question I will only get punished as she sent me messages about the littlest things (breadcrumbs in sink, dust under the table, why I don quit my job? I should do what she says, super crazy) or bang her broom agaisnt my door when I was hiddin from her, because she was cleaning just not giving me space, it was a neverending nigthmare under lockdown measures. The cycle ended after half a year (she made sure to smear my reputation with my family, when I moved out, I was so exhausted I don't remember how I made it out. The first night out of that apartment I cried so much, my ribs hurt the whole week after. I wish somebody helped me break out of that, I felt horrible even after 6 months and started talking with a therapist which helped me come to terms. Thank you for informing us of this dangerous kind of people out there, you will eventually find one. I just wish I saw this video before.

I learned a lesson long ago, and it was by total accident that I did.
We empaths either forget, or don't even consider at all a key element about our empathness.
Empathic people are incredibly intuitive, that's why we can feel the pain of others so deeply. That's the difference between being compassionate and empathic. Empathicd can feel the negative and positive in a situation. There will be something OFF in a situation.
Just take a moment when you feel or notice someone is in pain.
Dig into your empathy and ask yourself if there's any sense of negativity that doesn't fit the scenario you're hearing, or seeing.
Ask yourself if it feels like manipulation in any way.
Now, this doesn't take away from our ability to want to help and be there for someone who needs us. It's a self preserving necessity.
But, it's a must to sense if any of this feels manipulative in any way.
Walk away from it if it does.
You wont be wrong. You'll be saving yourself from more emotional abuse.
You know how you feel inside. Trust those feelings and do not be gaslit.
Your reality of your feelings is valid and important. Remember that.

as an improving narcissist, I can confirm you need to have parents, if your 12 or younger get parents, I grew up alone in a house. I felt like I was going insane. no one to feed me barley, grew up with little to no friends. you would wonder why we naturally crave attention. and if i'm selfish for leaving because the empath started trying to use emotional manipulation to get me to change who I was, I encouraged her to hold on, while I tried to go and make something of myself. I am not the bad guy here, she insulted me every single day, pointing out my weaknesses and insecurities little by little till she could crack my character. then if I tried to ignore her insults and she ended up asking a question I didn't hear because of my adhd I get fukin hit. that was at the last 2 months before I decided to leave and overtime block on all my socials, changed all my passwords and delete her accounts off my medias. I know she is hurting inside but now I can't help with anything. i appologize for being a horrible human being, i dont know whats wrong with relationships, your suppose to help eachother make it work right, not leave because it gets hard: (

To the dudes in the comments that got played. Man up, a lot of us been played before. That was your lesson. Learn from it, so you don't repeat it. Work on your plan and yourself. Think with your heart and brain. You know the ingredients needed in order to dare to be great.
To the women in the comments that got played, you gotta recognize game. It takes a good brain to heart cooperation internally to understand why you're being turned on by a Mr right now and deduce do you really want to be a notch. Being on autopilot because you're turned on by the superficial can lead to some high mileage and regret for some.
If you're a very young adult woman with your vcard, find a young man with a vcard or a damn good hearted one with a brain to match. I've seen more successful marriages from those that were each other's first.
I guess it's something about being mutually sprung for the first time while being mature enough and old enough to cultivate a healthy union from it, versus some of us acting loose and fast back in high school.

Heres the hardest thing about narcissists. Not all parts of them are bad. Some of them are at least half good perhaps even more Id say the ratio is different for each specific narcissist. I actually disagree with the notion that they dont have any real love or genuine feeling at all. I think they do and they can also be capable of doing kind good things and even being self sacrificing at times. Unfortunately they also have the side of them that is cruel, dishonest, manipulative, hateful, insecure, gaslights you etc.
This little video paints them as more of a sociopath which is perhaps the reason narcissists are so dangerous imo because t hey are half human and its that humanity that confuses us, keeps us stuck, keeps us trying, keeps us believing. Its that side of them we have to abandon. The side that is a good loving person cos its not ALL of who the are. The other side of them uses and hurts us. So when we go no contact its not the evil in them we are walking away from its the light. And thats FN HARD!

Hi Matt. It is sometimes still hard to believe that It wasnt real like you told me at year five of 13, and 5 more years trying to get a divorce without losing everything to your punishments for not coming back when you demanded it. It is still hard to believe just how hard the cord was cut when I, as you put it wasnt enough, and pathetic for holding out hope when you got a new supply, and then I still didnt realize how dangerous still being available to you was to my being. And even though Ive grown so much And intellectually know all these things. This delightful little video still hurts. And I can see that I still have some work to do. But Im excited about the freedom and the new connections it will bring. It feels like it was delivered exactly the way it needed to be for me to finally get it. And now Im going to let it sink in. I release you as the voice in my head. And I send all your energy back to you, and call all my energy back to me now healed. Ase

I have come into contact with someone who has exhibited narcissistic behavior. He was a family friend. My brother and I was offered a place to stay and that is when everything started going south. This family friend would have some self destructive behavior and health issues. I would suggest a change and I would be met with resistance. Every time I would correct them when they remembered something wrong, and I would get yelled at for even suggesting something that made them seem wrong or made them seem incapable of something. It always ended in a fight. I have cut all ties with said person but my giving nature makes it difficult to be the bad guy for my own mental well being. Watching this video has made my decision more concrete and gave me a better understanding of what was going on. Thank you pych2Go for helping me reach a better understanding.

I'm really getting confused. All my life I thought I'm an empath, but recently my partner tries to say that I'm the only one that needs their needs to be satisfied and am being pushy and. abusive (they said today) Am I being gaslighted? Since what I feel is like everything depends on them and I am not allowed to ask for anything. and when I do, I'm being convinced of being an egoist. Whenever they need something and at the same time my needs are pending as well, whose needs are to be satisfied (recently we both demand to be ours, though and this creates tension? What's the reality? I'm really trying to loose glimpse of it.

I can't take this title x) You CANT possibly say you're an 'empath' and mean it with total conviction and no irony. Come on. Can't you see empath/narcissist is just another way of making a situation good guy/ bad guy? Which is in itself narcissistic, because it assumes you had no part of whatever the conflict was! The truth is we all have both traits. To act like there's two distinct camps is just laughable to me. I grew up with a mother swearing she was an empath and my dad was a narcissist. And she'd do it while screaming at me for hours, chasing me into the bathroom! That, for me, encapsulates this entire concept.

I think another problem with empaths is feeling special by being with a narcissist. Usually all the red flags are right there but still they tend to think they're too special or good to be a victim of a person who clearly has no morals. Usually one can see the narcissist being mean, a hypocrite, a liar, a cheater and manipulative to other people, but still think it could never happen to himself. Why is that?

I watched my best friend of 15 years turn from a childhood comfort, to an ugly collector of damaged friends for profit, and I had to burn the bridge all the way down. I happily threw my money at her small business, and she swindled my mutual friends. She turned her entire circle of friends away from her when all she had to do was be normal.
reply

Another hard truth. Narcissists don't get the help we think they need because to them harming others is therapeutic to them! We might find it impossible to believe, but that's another reason why when we beg them to get help, they gaslight, they blame shift and they belittle, and refuse to get help. To them, you're suffering is their medicine.
reply

Narcissism is represented as a 'devil', bad intentional behavior. It's not like that, their behavior is not intentional and they do not have emotions included, is their mind and body and spirit dismissing equilibrium. They are in a trapped state, and it seems difficult to make them realize that they need to work on themselves.
reply

Thank you for this, I know I can never get the time or money back that I spent on this person but it helped open my eyes to the signs and ultimately learn I wasn't the bad guy for what I did. I did exactly like it said in the end, I cut them off completely to save myself from further trauma I didn't deserve.
reply

What if the narcissist is your parent? Does that mean they really never loved you? I suffered a lot of emotional abuse from a narcissistic parent, who claims to love me very very much. I know and believe intellectually that they care a lot for me, but I just dont feel it. And it's a huge source of torment for me.
reply

narcissist only have cognative empathy. They cant relate to emotional emapthy. They use different masks to pretend they have empathy. Once an empath always an empath. Sometimes teaching your enemy a lesson is the nice thing to do. But you friend was probably a narcissist that played an empath in the begenning.
reply

I thinkn the online content about narcissism is really limiting. It defines people who are essentially damaged as evil people who will never change. I'm not saying the content is false and I accept that people can't save/fix them but I really don't like this idea that they are somehow beyond healing.
reply

My brother is a narcissist. I didn't love him but still had a mental breakdown during my whole childhood. Sometimes it's not easy to just free yourself from a narcissist. Even if you have no feeling for them, they will pull shit on you just to catch your attention and watch you suffering
reply

I'm in a fight with my work and I totally get this! I was speaking to them about the cost of excessive night shifts to my mental health and they're so forcing me to do it. I actually had a moment where I had to acknowledge. 'Oh, they know. They simply don't care. '
reply

These points hit hard. I realize now I felt loved because I saw fruits of me caring, but I was never truly given love. I wanted to give myself to someone and she wanted to take as much as she could before I caught on.
reply

I honestly cant tell if there is a narcissist in my life but I do recognize some of the actions here I really do but just dont know who the problem is that if there actually was it seems impossible to help them
reply

What I am I imagine you are so if I need help I'm imagining you need help so if I'm helping you I'm actually helping myself but if it's not being recognized as being helped then I'm not really getting to help myself

As a empath myself, I was in a 8 year marriage with a abusive narcissist, only when my animals life was threaten with a tactical shotgun did I broken illusion, special thanks to Gregory Jr, the real hero.

The wild part is when the narcissist plays and plays and plays like theyre this all loving ever perfect empath. Because they saw it in someone else and decided if i pretend to be that ill be perfect.
