Well the reason about me being single is primarily becuz my parents think I dont need any partner for myself and only concentrate on my studies cuz they think only fools settle for love. Secondarily is becuz of my thoughts. I am suffering from loneliness, trauma-induced depression for yrs. I am recently crushing on a girl in my batch. I really want desire that she accepts me but deep down, I know she'll reject cause of these reasons.
1. I don't look great. That's why I always wear mask whenever going outside for entire 2. 5 yrs (only 5 or 6 have seen my real face.
2. I suck in academics. I want to work hard more, put more efforts but my depression won't let me do it. So I feel like who would even wanna date with a guy who's sucks in studies.
3. I have anxiety. I have never talked to her so I already know she'll reject me because she doesn't know me well and I am too shy to go and talk to her (I mustered up some courage to start a conversation with her but she's always surrounded by her friends)
4. Since she's so beautiful, I doubt she's single. She doesn't have any bf but its not out of the picture that she's also not crushing on another guy.
5. I feel like this is very common but I always think like she doesn't deserve a lousy shit-faced asshole like me cause she's so beautiful, cute yet sarcastic and hilarious.
Thank you fellow online users who read it. I desire that you remain in harmony with your significant other.

Point #2 regarding self-esteem really spoke to me. I had no luck with dating or crushes in middle school and high school and I gradually took all of that to mean that I was physically unattractive, emotionally unattractive, just flat-out not good enough and that as long as a better option was available, then I'd be passed up for that. Then in college, I met someone and we had a relationship for over two years. In what wound up being our final months together, that person went on to cheat on me multiple times with multiple partners. While they had the decency to confess these instances of infidelity to me and I forgave them the first two times, the third time was enough and I broke it off. But that only confirmed how I'd felt about myself before the relationship, that now it was official that I was not boyfriend material and that if someone, anyone, who possessed a better set of qualities in any way was around, I'd be passed up for them and that despite my best efforts, I just wasn't and would never be good enough for anyone. That relationship ended over twenty years ago and I've been single ever since. I figure that no one likes me as a potential romantic partner and that anyone who does will eventually come to their senses and bail.

I was in a depressive episode for about a week and a half recently. And it was within that period that I realized that a lot of the reasons why I'm still single at age 27, has a lot to do with underlying traumas that really destroyed my own self-confidence and self-worth when I was a child.
Won't go into too much detail, but constant alienation due to mild learning disabilities, and a death threat in the third grade, basically made me mistrust people's intentions, and alienated me from people at a critical age for socialization learning skills. That everyone was going to hurt me, because that was just my luck.
It's funny because my sister resented me because I had so much attention because of my learning disabilities, but I resented her because everything seemed to just naturally go her way and be easier for her. (We're adults now, so that's not a problem for us anymore)
It's only recently I've been trying to reinvent myself, and try to get out, and make new friends and hopefully relationships.
Wish me luck, and to my fellow trauma babies, you're not alone. Your traumas may have defined your past, but they don't have to be your present. We will only grow, when we find ways to learn to trust again.

Idk if this is related to trauma but i have trouble initiating things like holding hands or kissing, I just say it's because of anxiety but im not sure. Also I've never been in a relationship before my current one, and I'm finding it difficult to open up, and feel motivated to chat with him on the phone, I dislike phone calls but he loves it and I don't want to make him sad, the calls are never bad or awkward but i just never feel like calling him. I've always kept to myself, with friends and family, I really like my alone time where I just relax and scroll on my phone, but it became abit hard to do that when I started this relationship. He is clingy and likes physical touch which I'm fine with but I don't know how to show that I appreciate him back, it makes me feel like his the only one trying in the relationship but i just find it hard to get comfortable around people. we recently shared our first kiss, it was nice but I didn't feel anything special like what everyone describes it should feel, like the butterflies in ur stomach and stuff, I don't even know if I really like him but it felt wrong to say no when he asked me out.

I'm gonna tell you sad story that happened in the 6th grade. And I don't you feel sorry for me. I meet this girl who was in the 5th grade, she was so perfect, I thought that she was the one I had be waiting for to mend my broke heart. So I decided to tell one of my friends for support, instead he told the whole 6th grade that I was a child pervert. She did mend my heart, as a friend which is fine, but now I think got depression from the event. Thank you for listening, I don't want people to give me sympathy, because my life is one big joke to all of my friend. So you should treat it like one, anyways have a nice day.

While I shouldn't have trauma because I have had a great life with a wonderful family and a lot of things some people could only dream of, part of me thinks I do have some form of trauma because of past lies from my anxiety or other struggles I have gone through. I also have a habit of internalizing others' problems. Memorizing them so I can learn to avoid them. So some of these points were somewhat relatable. I think I'm getting better, though, and videos like these have definitely helped

When I was a child at school I was once playing with a girl, then one of my friends picked on me and we had this conversation of ( oooh you have a crush on her ) and kept saying no I don't we were just playing then he went and told all the other boys and they started laughing and they made cry, since then until today when ever I think about persuing a relationship I feel very very uncomfortable, you can just say the word (love, hug, kiss ) and my body will have a reaction of denying

In the end of everything that has happened to me i always try thinking positive because i have my mask to cover up all those hellish experience that has permanently scarred me mentally and ive been wearing that mask for my whole life, adding more burden to my mental health and eventually making me the saddest person that hides it all with a fake smile that my past me hated. Im still doing bad and i have no clue what im doing with my first and last time to experience life

My ex and I even to this day. We were friends for a couple of years prior to dating for 6 months and it didn't work out but even now, I find it difficult to try and open up to him again because of some of the patterns he exhibited in our relationship and even some of my own issues listed in the video. Granted, we have no interest in dating again but how can we have a more profound, platonic connection if they aren't willing to deal with his traumas?

I am in a relationship now, and sometimes end up thinking that maybe it would have been better for them if before we met I had come to the conclusion that my baggage (from childhood and previous relationship) is so not conducive to a good long-term romantic relationship that I should just be single the rest of my life. How do I get over that and actually believe that the person I am with thinks being in a relationship with me is good and worth it?
reply

I did everything to resolve my trama. I've tried psychological sessions, talking to relatives and did the twelve step programs. nothing worked. Relationships are far and very few and don't last long. What was it I did in a past life so horrible that I deserved a traumatic childhood and having to take the blame for other's wrong doings while growing up? Loneliness is the only place I find comfort.

When you have finally made true friends. and you trusted no learned too trust again hm. yet there lying makes it hard to trust them even more proditiophobia hmm and the fear of trusting people as well they know that you trust them too actually even talk to them. when you thought you know loneliness then you made friends and actually talk to someone ahh I felt more lonelier than usual hmm.

Several of thee do, indeed, resonate with me. .. but in a very stragne way: these describe some of my behavior not in love, but at WORK. Having struggled, as a disabled person, until after the age of 40 to find my first steady job, I subtly show most or all of thse behaviors in the workplace, and I can even think of incidents from today!

I always have self trauma sometimes whenever I have a gf. Last time I had one, I tried to tell her about a conversation I had with her and it made her feel uncomfortable and betrayed, and a week later, I ended up breaking up with my gf at school while we talked with the school counselor which took up my whole ASL class.

When trauma just seems like a wake up call to let you know that the world really is a horrible place, that people are terrible and take some kind of sadistic glee in hurting you, and that there's no such thing as a safe place, you realize that loneliness is a small price to pay to minimize the pain in your life.

I just have emotion aversion. I feel extremely uncomfortable around emotional people. The unpredictability just triggers me. I also feel uncomfortable when I know someone likes me. I dont know why but I just have an extreme aversion to emotions and will go to extreme lengths to escape it.

I always feel like Im not good enough for my friends. I stopped being friend with my friend because I felt Im making her life worse I liked her that much that I cannot be friend with her anymore because I saw how she have problems and I felt its my fault ect

loneliness is my trauma. people I thought were my friends have randomly switched, and started to ignore me. When I ask why they ignore me its usually a lie. Then the constant lies and finding out the real reason has gave me a great deal of mistrust.

I can relate to all of this, due to emotional trauma when I as little. Also, I dealt with infidelity which makes things harder. So thank you for this video to help me understand why Im feeling this way.

Got it, I'll always be single. Luckily I never had to deal with relationships, since I'm aware that I'm a mess and I'll just hurt everyone who tries to get close to me anyway.
