Be carefull with number 3!
accountability friend.
I had that kind of Situation with a girlfriend and her smoking habbit.
She wanted me to keep track of her progress weekly.
In the beginning it worked.
But 3 weeks in. she started smoking again and was to embarrased to even tell me at first,
3-4 days no texting which was confusing.
cause she thought that i would be disappointed cause she failed, even worse she thought she is not worth my attention anymore.
(Yes she had huge problems with her self esteem)
So. yes accountability contracts can be a motivation but they can also be hurtfull when you failed and think you let somebody down and avoid talking to your contract buddy out of embarrasment.
Than this mind hack can kill your motivation even faster.
Obviously that's just my personal experience with accountability contracts.
It doesn't always have to be this way.
but i'd treat it as a double edged sword.

Every time I am about to make a bad decision for the future I stop right then, I analyse what I'm feeling (emotionally, physically and mentally) and I try to thing objectively, askings some questions (is this thing beneficial? Is it short term happiness? Will it benefit myself in the future? Am I going to regret this? Would my desired future self allow me to? Is there a better alternative? Are my core values aligned with this thing I'm about to do? If it were a friend in my place, same goals and values, would I try to stop them )
That helps me realise if it's just an urge/short term unhealthy happiness and if so I am usually able to stop

The first point alone is horrible for people with catastrophic thinking. We always think the worse outcome and for myself, i believe that if i ever imagine something good happening to myself, ill get the opposite. its horrible for my anxiety but it works?

The positive daydreaming is something I really need to do. I am going through some work changes, and it has been stressful to a degree that is making me feel ill. I know I am capable, but I think only about how I will mess up.

You literally just told people who are anxious to. stop being anxious. How does this help?
Also, having a PhD in. well anything doesnt mean you can prove where theres a will theres a way.

Can you do a video about teens, young adults, and adults with imaginary friends/worlds? (I usually only find stuff about kids with imaginary friends, but that's not what I'm looking for)

Ah thank you so much for that second tip. I have a hard time to complete task because I always think about the results instead of thinking about the learning experience.

oh I do that!
Don't think about what could go wrong, think about what could go right!
Wait that's what that is? That's not what I do

In regards to number 5, I find that seeing the most pessimistic side of things gives me comfort rather than the humorous side. Anyone else?

Positive daydreaming, I know about all too well: I've been relying on it heavily all my life. Maybe there are benefits to AD/HD?

Positive daydreaming sounds a lot like visualisation so it would be good if you did a whole video on that.

I wish I actually had some self-esteem to use these mind hacks. As I am, though, my brain is defective.
