Just prior to the corona quarantine lockdown, I had ended a relationship that I had previously assumed would be my forever partner, to a point it's taken me to this more recent time. Possibly the last year, to totally and earnestly let go of the nostalgic trap the feelings of those times were for me and embrace being just me until content with making my own life as is, until further notice. I was in so much emotional pain from the separation I considered literally all nostalgia and reminiscing to be toxic and delusional thinking, which did nothing to empower myself or improve my psyche or mood. Finally this last two years with therapy and medication, I've reached a point I can reign in nostalgic reminiscing and daydreaming to be proactive about improving what actually is. If I'm sharing this with total honesty, I'm often still fighting that pain, but it's severely lessened from what it previously was. I say all of that to state; it is a very truly double edged sword for the human mind, relied upon too heavily it may do more harm than good. BUT. at the same time, it can apply that damage/pain if not accepted at all. It is really a thing of balance and moderation like so much else in our lives

I can still remember an incident that occurred during my fall 2016 semester of college. Two days earlier is when I got my wish to meet Martin and Chris Kratt. One of my morning college classes was taught by a really nice professor who used to ask everybody what we did over the weekend as a thoughtful way of enhancing cultural diversity. When I shared my story, nobody reacted to their names. They immediately gasped with nostalgia as soon as I mentioned the title Zoboomafoo. Just thinking about it is quite heartwarming because it was a live example of different ethnicities being brought together by a universal favorite.

Nostalgia can be a comforting lens through which we revisit cherished memories, providing a sense of warmth and connection to our past. It serves as a reminder of where we've been and what we've experienced, offering valuable lessons and insights. However, it's crucial to balance nostalgia with an openness to the future, as clinging too tightly to the past can hinder personal growth and progress. By embracing nostalgia while remaining receptive to new experiences, we can honor our roots while confidently navigating the ever-changing journey ahead.

Nostalgia is like many human habits or tendencies-- experienced wholesomely, it's natural and pleasant, even if somewhat melancholy.
Many natural rites of passage are like nostalgia, most especially when in the autumn of life. Regret, poignancy, and memory of lost love and failure are all quite normal.
They become harmful when overengaged, or overindulged, in a broader negativity.
I've been experiencing much nostalgia recently, and it's only natural. I'm getting old. I try to view it lightly with acceptance and gratitude.

I enjoy feeling nostalgic in both good and bad memories, it reminds me what is important to keep in the present and the future. The good memories fuel me forward while the bad ones keeps me on the right path. Our lives is like that yin yang symbol everyone is likely familiar with, there's a balance between the good and the bad and even in good situations, there is a bit of bad in it and in every bad memory, there is a hint of goodness in it. As Jocko Willink says, detach from the situation to see things better.

While I love feeling nostalgia, I feel like it can also be a bad thing even when reminiscing in good times. It can distract me from the life I live today and it prevents me from growing. I’ll still be a true nostalgist at heart, but that is something I found interesting on my own observation.

I struggle with nostalgia. I have for several years. Most days I feel stuck in an endless loop of the past inspite of knowing that hindsight is rosier than the had-been.
My feet struggle to push forward onto the road when my head is constantly looking behind and tripping.

I'm always living in nostalgia. I still play the game Battlefield 2, which came out in 2005. I've been playing it since 2013-present. I also love listening to older music albums such as metal from the 2000s.

I am somewhat nostalgic, because I enjoy reminiscing about the past. My nostalgia is generally happy and grateful for the times I've had, but some people's nostalgia is bitter and resentful.

Nostalgia is a sign of beautiful aspects of one's past. gives a smile on any day, no matter what. Those that belittle it, are simply those who have unfulfilled lives and are jealous

I see nostalgia as not just reminiscing about the past, but a desire to go back.
Life is meant to be lived forward. There is nothing to be gained from reliving the past.

Nostalgia is melancholy 100% for me. Never inspires me or makes me feel better. I feel worse because everything just gets worse and I will never be as happy as I once were
