Really enjoyed the video, I wanted to share some similar things to this that helped me:
1. To combat self-criticism - think of an animal you really like. Now think of it in it's cutest, most innocent form, e. g. a kitten. Now think of what you are saying to yourself, and instead say it to the imaginary kitten, this young, innocent animal that has potential to be something so much more if it nurtured and inspired. That kitten is you as a person. How does it make you feel to treat a kitten like this How different would it be if you treated it nicer - I know that must sound really strange as a thought experiment, but somehow, it really helped me to be more positive towards myself, instead of super self-critical all the time.
2. Comparison and jealousy - I can't remember the video where I saw this, but think of jealousy as the negative end of a spectrum. The positive end is inspiration. So instead of choosing to be jealous, look at the situation and choose to be inspired. Instead of thinking bitterly, start thinking that, if this can happen to this person, then why not me I can learn from them and get to something like this as well.
3. Fear of failure - Think of failure more as a teacher, or an opportunity to learn. Failure is not fatal. Just learn from what happened and move on. You do better by learning and growing from failure than being stagnant and learning nothing at all.
4. Growth mindset - Accept the fact that you can learn with work, and effort. I have a theory that humans actually have a lot more neuroplasticity than we think, and that it only becomes less neuroplastic with age, because we don't have as much of a go with new, different, or fun opportunities as we age. I can't prove it, just seems to be an underlying pattern I've noticed. I can't deny that people are born with gifts, talents, etc. and that sometimes no matter how hard or smart you work at something, you might not be as good as someone else, but that doesn't mean you can't give it a shot and still be good at it. Not everything is about one of us being in first place. There's more to life than competition. Also, some talents are only discovered later in life anyway, they're not found when you're a kid.

No matter how your current situation might be, you can decide to want to change today. As a conscious decision. You are not defined by your past. I’ve heard an inspirational phrase Rather then define yourself by what your past version was, define yourself as the person you are right now Because personality & needs are fluid. Two books helped me shifting my mind set: E E 2 (Pam Grout. Watch inspirational
Movies like Ted Lasso whose mantra is very simple: Believe.
You can try to see life as possibility to try new things every day, like a game in the good way-you get your levels every day, nothing bad can happen because tomorrow is a new day. Even in sickness/mental health crisis, this could help to switch perspectives. The secret is to have your goals and stick to them no matter what. In the beginning, it’ll be overwhelming but that’s the clue to keep on going. You’ll get fitter and fitter every day. Like building up muscles (mentally. You can do it
One quote really inspired me: You have nothing to lose to believe in God but everything to win. Replace god with Believe and see.
Iam really passionate about vids like that bcs I know from my own experiences that is IS possible to change mindsets in the moment you decide to do it. Any moment is the right time

I've found that expressing gratitude has a powerful affect on ones self and sense of self worth and it is also a pro social habit that helps other people understand you better and all almost for free.
By saying thank you or expressing appreciation for something, it tells both yourself and others that you liked and enjoyed something. It might seem silly to need to tell yourself that you like something but the mind and memories are based on emotions and expressing an emotion can help solidify it or make it seem more coherent and thus becomes more memorable and if you have more memories of gratitude and appreciation it actually helps you feel more connected to and more valued and valuable in your community. It also tells other people in a gracious way what you like and appreciate. People also tend to want to be appreciated so it helps tell people how you like to be treated and( surprisingly) most people will treat you how you want to be treated if they are aware of how you yourself want to be treated.
Seriously, saying thank you and meaning it is one of the most effective powerful good habits out there.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk. =)

Damn, I'm hitting on all boards!
Real talk now, although experts may say it's harmful, I feel like negative self-talk made me a better person, it helped me understand what I don't like about myself and I changed it. While it did hurt my self esteem and sense of self worth (which I'm currently working on, and getting better, one step at a time) I feel like without it I wouldn't have changed, I've changed my diet, set goals for myself and became a better person. I've asked my friends about it, and how they had thought about me back then in comparison to now, and they agree with me, that I've become better.
Another thing I'd like to ask, I love your videos but can you post videos about how to change these harmful habits Like, what can be done, what's the best way to do that, or how do you even start to changed something like fear of failures and perfectionism

I want to replace all the bad habits mentioned in the video. I tend to be negative all the time and am kind of jealous to others' accomplishments, pitying myself because I feel I am not good at anything. Also, I am afraid of failures so as mentioned in the video, I am afraid to take risks and seek self growth. I take criticisms badly and feel as if I'm a victim all the time. Those criticisms should be discerned and understood as part of self growth. So yeah. Starting today I will do my best to embrace the positive and keep on persevering in life.

Your videos are amazing! I am on social assistance for my struggles with mental illness and can't afford the proper care that I need to help me understand myself and the why's of old habits and the hows of changing it. Watching these have helped me so much in improving my life. I am extremely grateful for everything you do!

Making mistakes was never allowed growing up, and I grew up being taught victim mentality from my mother too, who told me I never did enough, and I'm not norma. I was taught all or nothing thinking too. I pretty much have all of these and haven't broken them yet, as I still live in the same environment going on 38 years now.

Definitely fear of failure is the one that gets me. I appreciate what I have and don't take anything for granted, and I also give myself the benefit of the doubt a lot when it comes to messing up, but I have let some opportunities pass me by just due in inaction because I was scared of messing it up or offending someone.

I once had a habit of spending money impulsively, mainly on phones. As of last year I ended that habit. I went through 20 smartphones in 8 years, being that I'm a tech enthusiast but also I was just trying to find the phone for me. I finally have in the OnePlus 11.

For the first one I still deal with this habit but my therapist says that every time u do the smallest thing such as saying I’m eating cereal. And I love myself. He says that by adding the word I love myself will help u feel better abt ur self

Hello, i request psych2go to make videos on psychotherapies, like dbt, act, cbt, nlp, art therapies. the list is more. if people learn therapies they will understand their issues better, and help others too.

Perfectionism is one thing I am working on right now.
Reminds me of some old gin commercial I saw a few years ago where the guy said, in a frantic voice, You don’t understand, it HAS to be perfect!
