What's On the Opposite Side of the World From You? 6: 30 I don-t think there-s someone in the Indian Ocean wondering where the heck I am, let alone anyone even way out there. I hope nobody is out there on a boat. The only thing I can see is someone on a plane flight wondering it at the exact time they cross that point. I certainly hope that nobody is out there swimming. They-re gonna be swimming for hundreds of miles just to reach Antarctica, which isn-t going to help them much, because it-s so freaking cold down there, your clothes are likely going to have at least a couple rips in them, so you-ll be somewhat exposed to the cold Antarctic air. Being stranded with the average summer temperature coming out to only 5 degrees above zero, and having no way of contacting anybody except scientists because you won-t be getting any cell service down in Antarctica because there-s no cell towers down there, because nobody lives there, you-re not gonna have a fun time. As it is, you would already have a very low chance of even reaching Antarctica because you will have to swim across hundreds of miles of cold water that is probably not much warmer than the freezing point. That alone would almost certainly give you hypothermia because you will be experiencing extended exposure to this freezing cold water you have no choice but to swim across. If that didn-t give you hypothermia somehow, then the ridiculously cold Antarctic air certainly will. Either way, you-re going to get hypothermia. You-re not gonna feel like what we call warm. The southernmost parts of the world are very very cold places. Although I don-t think being in Antarctica wouldn-t work needed clarification.

It would be interesting to dig a hole all the way through the earth to the other side, and pour water into the hole you just made. It would probably get stuck in the middle, where the two gravitational forces meet and collide with each other. The equal strength of force would probably just softlock you right there.

its false bc youre back is on the other side

I am from India, now settled in Seattle, USA. I always say to my friends in India, -My rising Sun here is your setting Sun-; pretty much opposite with 12-1/2 hrs time difference. Good to know more about the opposite points from your wonderful informative video. Appreciate much!

Thank you for this interesting video. I am from the Philippines and I traveled to Brazil in 2015. it took me 26 hours with a stop and transfer in New York City. I stayed in Sao Paulo which is around 22 km away from Manila's Antipodal Point in Terra Indigena.

Being from Belgium, my history teacher always told me we where opposit of Australia. So she lide? Ok, I forgive her. That was 50 years ago. But she kept my interest in discovering things alive. And for that I will be great full forever.

I-m in Singapore and my opposite is around the Amazon. However, if we were strictly talking about longitudinal regions I would have been opposite of New York (you can further prove this as I am 12 hrs ahead of New York) -

I live in French Polynesia which is a french territory that is almost perfectly at the opposite of France, and we do have 12 hours of difference with mainland France and the travel by plane is the longest domestic flight possible.

Now imagine if geopolitics were somehow based on this. Would Spain be at a maniacal war to the last person with New Zealand, or would they be close allies in a war against some country halfway between them?

This video still is not getting my point and concern. If the world is -round- what-s on the other side of what-s shown from -Space- there-s untouched and undiscovered lands

Can you please do a video about how to reach the very farthest point away from where I work? And how much would a one way ticket cost, preferably tomorrow?

Your perfect love waits for you in the opposite side of the world. If your city or county happens to be opposite to the ocean, maybe your perfect love is a fish.

I live in south-west Sweden so at my antipode a whale is swimming alone searching for some plankton to eat in the Pacific Antarctic ocean- -

I'm from Chile, here we can say that if we dig a hole we get to China and if we go in a straight line towards the Pacific we get to Japan xd

Wait, he said that there were two islands opposite of Colorado but then said Montana is the only state with land antipodes?

Ik it's vague but I figured it would be around Madagascar or the southern indian ocean or Australia how'd y'all get China

I miss this kind of content. Short but very informative. Unlike today's content too much political content for RLL

3: 55 - not quite. I believe Bermuda's opposite point is just outside the Perth, Western Australia metropolitan area.

The closest piece of land to my antipodal point would be the South Island of New Zealand, as I live in the UK.

lol, this crossed my mind once and I calculated the opposite coordinates, it was somewhere in pacific ocean.

If you went from one side to other the gravity would make you get stuck in the central point of the earth

I'm in Canton Ohio and that means the farthest i can get from my current location is in the Indian Ocean.
