What If Republican and Democrat States Were Separate Countries?
video description
Its not just because of arguments like Dem states are high crime or Dems will burn their cities to the ground but its because of the map itself.
Democrat country is divided into 5 parts (3 north, 2 south) + Hawaii while the Republican country is mainland (connected) + Alaska.
1. Economy - on the event of separation, both countries economies would be severely affected, one economic sector in a Red state is dependent to another one in the Blue state and vice versa (its no rocket science LOL) but the impact would be greater for the Democrats for a simple fact that they arent connected to each other. Unless they have an open borders agreement with Canada and Mexico then they could have certainly boost their economy (lets assume that the Republican country would be hostile to the Democrat one so the GOP will reject any free travel deal.
2. Military - the Democrat country being separated into 5 far-flung regions would have its communication and logistical lines severed. It would be difficult for the Democrats if they want to reunify -what was once-called as the United States- by force. The Republicans on the other hand, would have better command and control due to it being more geographically unified, good for mounting offensives and counterattacks if they decided to reunify the US by force. Republicans also love gun ownership and military spending.
All of this would mean that the population, economic, and military advantages of the Democrat country would get nullified on the day they separate from the Republican country. Probably Democrats quality of life would also go down (Dems like to brag about having richer, happier, and better living states) due to unconnected economies.
Sure, the Republican country would end up as the worst in the world when it comes to inequalities, probably it would be gone into lots of debt, or they would have been demoted into a developing country status, or it will find itself with a large army to maintain for no reason at all since they would have lose the superpower and -world policeman- status. But sure thing is, they have law and order, political stability, and they would exist on the long-term.
The Democrat country would simply cease to exist either by annexation by Canada or Mexico or even by the Republicans themselves. The Democrat country would only end up in history books and be buried alongside the original United States of America.

Question for others that this recently showed up in your feed:
Background: I relocated to Florida for family reasons in 1985. I reached retirement four years ago, all is well however: The morning of June 1, 2023 while sitting at a traffic light in a beautiful small Florida town my intuition came in as strong as it ever has and I said the words out loud to myself -We are moving back home-
Back home for me is/was known as New Amsterdam (Nieuw)
Question: have any other transplants from blue states to red been feeling the desire to go home? Likewise have any people from the red states who are relocated to the blue states have the same feeling recently that they are going home?
I know it-s a weird question but from experience I also know that large groups of people seem to make the same decision at different points in history. I-ve always wondered about that I-ve been told is called the 100th monkey syndrome. But that-s another Story.
Speaking of stories I would like to hear your story if you have one to share about moving home.
I suppose in my case; You can take the New Yorker out of New York. But you can-t take the New York out of the New Yorker.

I think what people don't take into account is that if the country did split there would probably be mass migration at the beginning. With those looking for social programs moving to the states that would most likely still have them. Also, those seeking more freedom and less regulation so people would emigrate to them as well. I believe it would be much more of a change than this video shows. Also some states would split in half before they would become all one or the other. Like most of New York that isn't New York city. This is why this would be much more drastic than you propose.

This is over simplified. Most soldiers lean Republican. By a 2-1 margin with the more important Combat Arms soldiers skewed even further right. The biggest Army and Marine bases lay in the RED states. So does the manufacturing of arms.
Most the democrats supporters live in the big cities. With most of the resources those cities live off of and need coming from red states and counties.
Most gun owners and veterans are Republican supporters. The left and blue states would get WAXED!
By people who also know how to fight like insurgents.

Honestly if political parties became countries and they both went to war. The republicans would easily take the entire cake. Democrats would be starved of ammunition and lack of weapons due to the government taking all of them from the citizens and all they-d have to throw as hand grenades would be dildos. Republicans on the other hand would be full of combat veterans and pro gun with much more weapon experience and tactical experience. it wouldn-t be hard to just walk into the democrat country and claim it part of the republican country.

Although it's fun to theorize, the truth is there's no possible way this could work currently. Sure, the political division is bad, but the truth is that even the most homogenous parts of the country rarely have more than a 75% majority. So, if this actually happened, you'd probably see over half the country getting up, moving and leaving their jobs, which would cause such a big depression that big business would immediately pay the government into reconciling.

Well, this map would not work. Split would mean conflict, and that would mean economy to colapse, and military power to be -used up-. And then there would be peace agrement's, with territory gain and losses. And then there would be migrations. I hope it will never be that bad for US, and for Constitutional Republic vs Representative Democracy conflict around the World. But it would be fun strategic computer game to play tho.

I personally would love to see the divorce. America is like a bad marriage that never got better and both parents are cheating on each other while putting on fake smiles for the kids. We're too far gone anyway. Both sides are completely different with their political beliefs and cultures. We had a good run but it's always better to start a new life if the one you're in is terrible for everyone involved.

Watched it a second time (as I think this will happen to America. This video proves how poor the Dems are at fiscal responsibility. They want to defund police and reduce the military, yet their spending budget actually equates out to being more than 50% higher than the GOP's. $123, 000 per troop vs. $184, 599 per troop. If there's less troops. where's all that extra money going? Whose pocket?

I think that it is possible that a separation could happen because the views of the two partys are different plus most red states are ran much better while blue states have the worst government with with high crime higher taxes. In my opnion i would argue blue states are a parasite to the overall economy so the separation would be more of a divorce

You would see a ton of population shifting, Ex; Pennsylvania you have like 6 counties that are Democratic and the rest of the state that runs the farms, a few of the big industry and more, would probably just pack up and leave everything. Leaving all the farms and manufacturing plants unstaffed and no food being processed or harvested.

No. I do not agree that the Democrats should get Washington DC as they hate our history, they hate the white, male chauvinists (our forefathers) that most of DC's monuments commemorate. They can have NYC or LA for their capital. They are going to abandon our government, our constitution. nothing in DC is of value or importance to them!

I see democrats becoming a lot more left lately, with bernie sanders and all. But we need a mixture of both. The left is mainly about personal freedom. While the right is about economic freedom. I am not a libertarian, i dont like that those progressive oligarchs. And neither any other party-s. There to far on one side in my opinion.

Yes but, the democrats will need at least 10 additional years to compete because they have to get in touch with weather or not they identify as a man or woman, get in touch with their feelings and then of course learn how to tie their own shoes let alone fight and fire a weapon.

I think the United States will split up around five to six different countries was different economic systems. You have to remember why so many people want to break away from America because they hate the two-party system that doesn't do anything for them

You make the mistake of thinking that states' voting patterns correspond to counties' [NB: I said COUNTIES, not 'countries'] voting patterns. Were counties choosing to go with like-minded counties, the borders would be VERY different to what you show here.

Democrat country would have to buy oil from Republican country. That's if they would be willing to sell the oil to them. That would change the economic edge to the Republican country. It would also put an end to the democrats climate change nonsense.

The easy answer is this:
We peacefully divorce.
Civil War breaks out.
China takes the side of the left because they will be easier to defeat after they've helped defeat the right
US becomes China Jr.
The end.

Two countries? Well seeing as Red states only account for 23% of IRS collected revenues. A republican nation is bound to be dirt poor. Even America's rich depend greatly and mostly on liberal productivity.

With no definite lines between the two, and mixed populations in all of the states, I think a war would come in the form of a guerilla type conflict much like in the Middle East at present.

It really comes down to whether a neo-confederate plot would have any chance of overtaking critical military infrastructure (and I suspect the answer is no, at least not on a large scale)

Considering most republicans believe the only legitimate function of government is the military, I have a hard time believing they would have a lower military budget than any country.
